Avenue House is a residential home that has been comprehensively re-developed (2003). The extensive redecoration includes new carpets, curtains and lighting.

The home is based within an adapted Victorian building containing 30 single units that each have a built-in wardrobe with a mini lockable safe, en-suite toilet and shower. The three-storey extension is serviced by two lifts.

There are also shared lounges and specially adapted bathrooms. The secluded garden is maintained regularly by professional gardeners and has flowers, shrubs, mature trees and an attractive pond.

The chef prepares a daily menu of tasty and nutritious food and can cater for any special dietary requirements.

This is a wonderful care home where the staff are always kind and caring. Activities are varied and enjoyable, the kitchen prepares tasty food and it is a happy place with excellent communication for residents and families.

My mother is the oldest resident at Avenue House and has lived there for over 12 years. This gives her, and us as her family, a long view of the excellent continuing care offered by all the staff and management.
They have helped her through the changing years with skill and commitment and she is still
very much part of the community, participating in activities and enjoying visits from family and friends who are always made very welcome. As a relative, I work with the staff to support my mother, and they are open to suggestions that might help. A good partnership.

I find all the staff from management down very help and friendly. My farther enjoys living there and can enjoy activities with others or find quite time on his own in the lovely new conservatory, his room or one of the large lounges with great views of the garden.
He likes his food and is always looking
forward to meal times as the food is so good.
I would highly recommend Avenue house.

A friendly, small care home, with good food, helpful staff, handy for the gardens, opposite a lively junior school. staff willing to offer lifts to doctors, go shopping for residents, take them out for day trips etc. I feel my aunty is well cared for and looked after.

Avenue House is a fantastic, caring and supportive care home. Excellent. My mum has been a resident at Avenue House for a little over 2 years now and is really positive about living there. The staff are very supportive and manage the ever-changing care needs positively and with care. I've always found
that there is a really friendly and pleasant atmosphere in Avenue House whenever I visit Mum. Choosing Avenue House for Mum to live in once she was no longer able to live fully independently has been such a good decision. Thank you.

Avenue House is a wonderful and caring home. My mother has been a resident for just over a year and during this time we have experienced a big improvement to her mental health. The staff are marvellous and the daily activity list on offer is varied and fun. My Mum loves living at Avenue House and as
a family member, it is so reassuring that she gets excellent care and attention. The management are friendly and approachable and I would highly recommend Avenue House to anyone looking for a safe and welcoming residential home for a loved one.

Excellent care home. My Father is very happy living at the home. His needs are always looked after with great care. The staff are always very friendly and extremely helpful on all matters. The care and management of resident's needs are carefully considered and very well supported.

The new conservatory area has added great value to the home, providing a very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing area for residents to sit and enjoy. It has opened up the garden area from the outside, allowing residents to enjoy the garden when sitting inside.

My mother initially booked in for a week's respite care and after a few days of enjoying her experience, elected to stay permanently.
It’s clear that she feels listened to and has her needs catered for. The staff are so friendly and always have time for a chat, which she appreciates. When we visit,
we feel welcomed into the warm and friendly atmosphere too.
The home’s Quaker ethos seems to present itself particularly through the attention given to providing both residents and relatives with opportunities to give feedback to trustees. Also, the weekly meeting including members from local meetings provides a lovely way for Mum to keep in touch with her local community.
Mum’s move into Avenue House was both a surprise and a relief and we feel so grateful knowing that she has such a good quality of life for her final years.

Excellently run care home full of activities for all residents to enjoy.

I can only reiterate my comments from last year and that my trust and confidence in Avenue House continue. All staff members continue to treat my mother with the utmost dignity and respect and, have demonstrated their abilities to meet my mother's cultural needs. Having the opportunity to participate
in bi-monthly Family and Friends Video-link meetings is very refreshing and affords the opportunity for us to gain a holistic understanding of the day-to-day running of the home, as well as any vital information sharing. I welcome this transparency, the leadership style and the ever-evolving vision for the home. I am the most local and most involved family member supporting mother in her Care Home, hence I am a constant visitor. My mother has been at the Home for 5 years and in that time her care needs have increased and changed. The Home staff are very good at recognising this and responding to her changing
needs. Many of the staff are long-term and consequently know my mother well and are not only caring but loving towards her.

My name is Caroline and I am the registered manager at WEFHS. I have over 20 years of experience running homes and am dedicated to providing the highest possible standards. I am really proud of our dedicated staff, shown by the fact we have staff that have been with us for years, allowing real relationships to develop. All this translates into a ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission.
