Katherine House is a purpose-built residential home designed to maximise views, natural light and a sense of well-being for each resident.

Fully qualified and experienced staff provide ‘24-hour’ round-the-clock care as well as respite care for those with low-level needs. The residents' individual needs are constantly monitored and their care is reviewed and updated on a regular basis.

The design of the home ensures all areas are easy to navigate and are relaxing places for the residents. The home offers spacious en-suite bedrooms equipped with an electric bed, flat-screen television, telephone and comfortable, modern furniture. Residents are also encouraged to personalise their rooms to create a ‘homely’ environment.

There are opportunities for residents to stimulate interests and participate in activities which includes in-house entertainment as well as local trips into the community.

Katherine House provides comfortable, purpose-built accommodation for older adults.
It is a light and airy building which is very well maintained.
The atmosphere in Katherine House is a positive one and this is achieved by the warm, cheery, can do attitudes of most of the staff who work there.
The
care is very person-centred and flexible.
There is an activities programme which provides a range of stimulating events which are organised by an enthusiastic team.
My mother’s quality of life has greatly improved since moving there.
Staff are approachable and I feel they genuinely do their best for the residents.
Their willingness and efforts to get to work during bad weather were impressive. No agency staff are used which means residents receive continuity of care from care staff who know them

My Mum is 94 and has been at Katherine House for three months. Everyone here has been friendly and approachable. My Mum says that the staff are kind and helpful. There is a relaxed, calm atmosphere with comfortable lounges and a bright, airy dining room. Mum enjoys the meals.


Every day there is

an organised activity which residents can attend if they wish. There are visiting PAT dogs each week which are very much appreciated. We really enjoyed the Royal Wedding Garden Party and look forward to the next party. Katherine House is very homely and welcoming. I would definitely recommend it.

Suffice to say that if I am ever at a stage of life that I need to go into a residential care home I would have no hesitation in becoming a resident at this excellent care home. The home is a modern building with good facilities. It is light and spacious and located in a very quiet area with lovely
gardens to walk around if fit to do so. The staff are very good and caring and social entertainment activities are provided daily.

My father was resident at Katherine House from the age of 89 until he died at the age of 93.
He was extremely well looked after by the staff. I was always impressed by all levels of management at Katherine House and he was very happy and fond of all the staff who cared for him.
His room was very pleasant
and the home is set in a very attractive environment in a lovely part of the city.

My mother spent her last three years at Katherine House
We found the home to be very well run.
All staff showed genuine kindness and care, to the extent that several felt like friends.
There is as much activity as the resident desires and warm human contact so that I always felt confident that my

My mother is so happy and content at Katherine House. The staff look after her really well- chatting to her and cheering her up. I visit mum 2/3 times a week. I am free to visit anytime and this is indicative of what a well run, clean, lovely place it is. I have never smelt that awful smell often associated
with old people's homes. The staff take a pride in keeping the home and residents clean and looked after. During the week there are plenty of activities to stimulate and interest the residents. I would thoroughly recommend Katherine House to anyone who wants a well run, caring home for their loved ones when they are unable to maintain and run their own home.

Mama has been in Katherine house for nearly two years. I live overseas and am at ease every time I leave as the staff are all so caring and helpful.
I sometimes have lunch or tea here which is well presented and quite tasty. Only one time recently the expected fish fingers turned out to be a rather
difficult to cut fish cake.... But mama enjoys her food and her weight has kept steady.


Christmas was very well done, with lovely decorations and the staff were really in the spirit. Well done all of you!


In the springtime and summer the outside terrace is lovely for the residents to get fresh air. Mama's favourite place. The surroundings are really lovely with all the trees in the background.


Well done also for the Daily activities, quite a variety although Mama loves her siesta !

This is a lovely modern care home, set in a nice peaceful position, the staff are wonderful and the rooms are well appointed, this was Grans second stay at Katherine House, making our choice of home more easy, as we knew she would be well cared for by the very attentive staff.

My Father resided at Katherine House from October 2012 until his death in July 2015 and my Mother was there from July 2013 until her death in February 2014. Both were looked after superbly. I cannot fault the care they received or the kindness of the staff.
From the manager down all the staff carried
out their duties to a high standard.
The cleanliness of the home, the catering and facilities are second to none.
I am so pleased and grateful that we chose Katherine House for my Parents final years as I know they were happy and felt safe.

Meet The Manager
Leanne Thorne is Cote Manager at Katherine House Rest Home.


I have worked in Social Care for 26 years and have a variety of experience in elderly/Dementia, learning disabilities and mental health settings. This included 15 years working for South Gloucestershire council in all their residential care home homes, five years at Frenchay House residential care home and working as a strategic manager for another Charity.


I trained as an NVQ Assessor to support staff gain their qualifications as well as working with a training provider delivering NVQs to care homes across the Southwest. I became a mental health champion to support staff and residents to understand their own mental health challenges.


I am a very nurturing manager and enjoy supporting staff to increase their skill set to enable career progression.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I have 35 years of experience working in different care settings specialising in mental health/psychology, dementia, and residential/nursing care of the elderly. My role is to provide support to the management of the home, delivering the highest standards of care/support that our residents deserve.
I manage an extensive training/assessment, and competency programme for staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional care to the highest of standards. It is important to me that our residents receive the best quality of life through daily fulfilment, excellent care and services and a home where they feel valued, respected, empowered and treated as unique individuals with their own wishes and choices, creating a home from home environment.

Job Title: Hair Stylist

I started hairdressing at Cote House, another part of the Cote Charity, in 1990 when one of my clients became a resident. Before I knew it, more and more residents were asking me to do their hair and since then I have been visiting every Wednesday.


I deliberately didn't go and see Katherine House while it was being built. I just wanted to see the end product. It is breathtaking - light and airy and so modern. The reception you get when you come in is lovely - everyone is so welcoming to anyone who walks through the door. There's a really special atmosphere and always so much going on for residents, which I also like to get involved in - I've even been known to dress up as Father Christmas!
I consider myself really lucky. I've been hairdressing for 37 years and my job is my hobby.
