Mom has been a resident at Earlfield Lodge for over 3 years. During that time, the home has gone through various changes. The home now looks lovely and modern. The current staff and the management team run the home very well, from what I've seen. They are wonderful to Mom with her care. They cater for
her own individual needs. At times, individual members of staff go over and above, in various ways to help and support, which is very much appreciated. Mom recently celebrated her 90th Birthday and the team of staff, could not have done anymore to ensure Mom had a super time, at a party on the premises. All the residents and staff joined in with a sing-a-long, having a joyous time. I wish to thank all the staff at the home, for how committed they are and for how hard they work. It's good to see how well Mom is being looked after and treated. Keeping in touch with me, regarding her health, is very reassuring. Thank you all for everything that you do!

Mum was in for 2 weeks of respite care while I was away on holiday. She has previously stayed at a far more expensive, purpose-built care home but was much happier at Earlfield Lodge. She enjoyed fantastic attention from the staff there and it was apparent to me on the couple of visits I made before
she came home that they were all very kind to her, from the management team to the handyman and all the direct care staff. There were two teacups beside her the first time I visited by surprise after my holiday because the carer who let me through security had been sitting with her chatting when I arrived. Someone even did her nails for her with which she was delighted. It is clear that maintenance and renovations are continuous there. All in all and good experience for both her and myself and we expect to use the care home again.

I only have limited knowledge of here as my dad has only been here for a week. Everyone seems really nice and caring. My dad isn't sleeping very well because he says it's very noisy with alarms and doors going off and banging. He seems happy with everything else. I think the room he is in is a temporary
stay room because it isn't well furnished.

My 93-year-old mother spent 8 weeks in Earlfield Lodge during October and November 2022, as a result of a fall. During that time, I have nothing but positive things to say about her care. The staff were excellent and dealt with her ever-changing needs. She was treated exactly how I would like to be
treated should I end up in a Care Home. I can only think of one slightly negative comment and that was that the lift broke down a few times, meaning that Mum had to remain in her room. However, by that time she was mostly too poorly to go down to the lounge and so it didn't really matter in her case, but that is the only reason for marking 'Facilities' as Satisfactory. As far as I am aware, everything else was exactly what I would hope for. Unfortunately, Mum had to move to a Nursing Home closer to where my 89-year-old father is living, otherwise, I would have been quite happy for her to carry on living at Earlfield Lodge, and Mum certainly liked it.

My uncle by marriage has recently passed away, he lived at the home for nearly three years. Throughout this time the staff have been wonderful and he was very happy there. As we live in Birmingham it helped to know he was being looked after so well, he considered some of the staff as family. The home
have worked tirelessly to keep residents and staff safe during these trying times. We will be forever grateful to them all.

Earlfield Lodge and all its staff are amazing, I cannot praise the team enough. My mum was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and has deteriorated quite rapidly over the past few months. All go above and beyond not only to be my mum’s carers but also supporting me through some recently very upsetting
times.
My mum's care is dignified at all times and nothing is ever too much, my mum is truly loved by her helpers, who treat her like family. On the good days, I see them laughing and joking with her and on her bad days attentive to the end.
My mothers care is my highest priority and the team at Earlfield exceed this. I can't thank them enough for their continued support.

My mother has been a resident of Earlfield Lodge since August 2018. In this time, I have found her care to be exemplary.
My mother is extremely well cared for by a team of highly-skilled, compassionate and diligent care home staff. Despite her condition, she is treated with great humility and dignity.
Making
the decision to put a family member into a care home is extremely difficult but knowing they will be treated as a human being, are safe and well looked after does make a torturous decision somewhat easier.
In my opinion, the CQC rating is not a true reflection of this homes leadership, standards, process and procedures. I base my review on 'real-world' experiences gained during my frequent visits to the home to see my mother.
I would have no compunction whatsoever in recommending Earlfield Lodge to others.

Friends of my family, for many years, was a couple who lived nearby back in 2016. There was no option other than a full-time care facility. I looked on here following the death of the friend and was looking at how care homes are selected and ''scored''. The written reviews mirrored the superb care that
I had witnessed yet the CQC review does not, but please let me tell you the care and awareness and open love and affection shared for and by all will never have words sufficient to express. It may not have the latest fixtures and fittings but if care was measured on what actually matters, this care home is 10/10 without question and the staff truly care for the individual, friends, family and one another, up to and including the passing of our beloved friend.

Earlfield Lodge has been home to Mum and Dad for over three years. Dad had dementia and was unable to look after Mum, therefore, needing full-time care we moved them to Earlfield Lodge. The staff and carers have looked after Dad so well. He could be very difficult and nothing was any problem for the
staff. Any medical problems were quickly referred to a medical or to the family to ensure we knew what was happening. Dad received outstanding care and was able to be with Mum which they both wanted. We were always updated if any issues arose. Mum was immobile and needed help to do most
physical things. She was given a buzzer so she could call for help, etc. if needed. The atmosphere in the home is one of commitment, good practice and when Dad's health deteriorated, the staff were helpful and supportive. He was treated with dignity and care.
Dad passed away just over a year ago and I can honestly say he received the best care in his latter days. I have nothing but admiration and thanks.

My Mother is in this home, and I cannot fault the care provided to both her and myself. The staff are very caring, kind, approachable and the service is very good. She has been here for three years and gets on very well with all the staff who I have also built good relationships with. An excellent
home and I know Mum is looked after

The staff have been totally amazing with my dad from day one. My dad, unfortunately, had to go into a care home last year, and we do not know what we would do without the care and respect they all give him. They are so caring, respectful and patient with him, I would not want him to be anywhere else,
as a family, we believe he has the best care available. They are also very supportive of us when Dad is having a bad day, and we get upset.

I cannot praise Earlfield Lodge enough. They have been the foundation of myself and my family coping with my dad’s very early and aggressive diagnosis.
From the moment we tentatively walked through their doors, the staff welcomed us, supported us and respected us.
My dad’s care is dignified and I
feel he is loved by his helpers, who we now consider family.
They’ve gone above and beyond and everywhere in between to not only be my dad’s carers but also his friends and now our family.

I cannot fault this home. Within 30 minutes of Mum's arrival at Earlfield Lodge, the staff here had identified that mum had been given the incorrect medication at her previous care home. The staff here are approachable, friendly and actually care! We could not ask for more.

Great staff, always felt welcomed. Dad was well looked after, it felt like a home from home for me and my dad. The food was fantastic, some of the rooms need a little updating but were clean and tidy. I would live there myself!

I could always contact when needed, staff were very happy to answer any

questions and would always try to help.
My Dad's death was dealt with so well, staff were respectable and amazing with my family. I could always talk to management. I have had the pleasure of meeting lovely, kind and understanding people, who are brilliant carers.

My mum spent the final eight months of her life here, after suffering with semantic dementia for 5-6 years.

We were initially quite worried about mum going into a care home, but all of our doubts soon disappeared.
She was well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed her time here, with the staff becoming

her new family.
The staff here are just superb, and made sure she was well looked after and kept active doing the things that she enjoyed.

Even in mum's final few days here, the staff would bring us tea, coffee & sandwiches all through the night, as we stayed with mum.

I have nothing but admiration & respect for all the staff here, they do an excellent job 24/7.

I would not hesitate to recommend Earlfield Lodge, and will always speak very highly of them.

Current Review Score: 7.9 (7.906)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.9 (7.906) out of 10 for Earlfield Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.146 for Earlfield Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.146

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.76 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Earlfield Lodge is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.385

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
