Serenita is located in the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare and is within walking distance of local shops and other amenities such as Beach Lawns and the seafront with its many attractions. The large communal areas in this exceptionally spacious home contribute to the noticeably relaxed atmosphere.
Serenita is a specialist unit providing medium and long term residential care and rehabilitation for 34 people over 45 years of age who live with the effects of alcohol related problems such as Korsakoff's syndrome. Services are not provided to people who continue to abuse alcohol. Careful assessments of each person admitted to the home are carried out. Carers aim, with the resident's involvement, to put in place a package of care and support that will enable that person to be as independent as possible. Through providing a safe secure and supportive environment they aim to help people achieve personal aspirations and maximise their abilities. Professionals encourage links with a resident's family, often lost when lives are disrupted by alcohol abuse, to be re-established. The extent to which people can recover from alcohol related brain damage is variable, but Serenita always try to go beyond just providing a safe home and put rehabilitation at the forefront of what they try to achieve. Encourage former skills and interests to be regained and provide opportunities for new experiences to enrich the lives of residents.

Me and my family have been made to feel very welcome from the first visit and continue to get better after more visits. My children really enjoy coming to visit their grandad. They enjoy being invited to eat dinner or tea with him. I can see the improvements in him as well, very happy indeed.

I have been living in Serenita Care Home since 27/10/14. I was staying before in a hostel in Bristol. In the year 1st September 2014 I had an epilepsy attack. I have had a pancreas operation. Because hygiene reasons consultants put me here in Serenita Care Home.
It's a right place to stay for alcohol
and drug users. Because most of them have had lost their knowledge a very long time ago. In the past Serenita Care Home was running as a motel not a care home. since I am here, there are ongoing repair works in here. Blocked loos and washbasins. There is always a big container for builders on the front. Otherwise it's a heaven for the residents. Not for me.

Many thanks for your review of Serenita. Feedback is so important to us and I would like to answer some of the points you have raised. Prior to Notaro owning the building it was indeed a hotel, but this was changed when we purchased the building a number of years ago and we've been running it as a care home ever since. Due to the age of the building, unfortunately it does require maintenance, along with our standards of wanting to provide the very best for our residents. We continue to refurbish the home and also the home which is situated next door to Serenita, hence the need for a skip. We are looking into the possibility of moving the skip shortly, as we appreciate it is an eye sore.

I visited my sister at the Serenita in December 2015 and received a very welcome reception as I always do. My sister is extremely happy at the care home and the staff are always attentive, caring and friendly towards her. I cannot rate this place highly enough it is excellent.

Milan Mores

Job Title: Care Home Manager

Joined: 2006

In 1999, in Slovakia, Milan started work as a therapist in a re-socialisation centre for people living with alcohol, drug and gambling addictions and got involved with delivering prevention programmes for young people, based around their addictions.


Milan then moved to the UK in 2006 and joined Notaro Care Homes as a deputy manager at Serenita; progressing to the registered manager in 2008.
Milan possesses a wealth of knowledge, experience and determination to ensure the residents of Serenita receive the very best care and support and continue successfully along their enablement programme and recovery journey.


Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
