My husband has been living in Worcester Lodge for over a year now. I'm so happy that he is living in such a wonderful home. He receives excellent personalised care, from warm, caring, kind and friendly staff. He started with day care as the activities on offer were so appealing for an active person
who needed to be safe. After a few months he became a resident and is now very settled. The dementia care is amazing, plenty of activities with trips and walks away from the home on a regular basis. Going above and beyond to meet his physical needs. The relatives' gateway where we can access the personalised care on a daily basis is very reassuring and useful. I'd like to add that I am always made to feel very welcome whenever I visit and I enjoy being part of the Worcester Lodge family.

Reply from Joshua Slator, Director at Worcester Lodge

Thank you for such lovely comments, and so glad the relatives' gateway is a reassuring addition. I know how delighted the staff will be to read your positive thoughts around the quality of dementia care, as well as feeling part of our family.

Overall, my experience at Worcester Lodge is very positive. I only have prior experience of one similar home, so my comparisons would be with this in mind only. My mother is settled and well in her lovely room. She is always taking very positively of the staff. I do wish however that there was more
information coming back to me. In the previous home I would receive a weekly update of meals eaten, medication, any injuries/bruises etc, any observations and daily activities. I find this put my mind at rest, whereas currently I am left wondering how my mum is. It's early days however and I will be feeding this back. Also I would like earlier access to and from the home!

Thank you for your lovely comments. To put your mind at rest- Our electronic care planning system has an exclusive relative's gateway, that has secure internet access, just for the family, to view all aspects of your loved one's care. There is also a private relative's social media page with all the goings on in the home, as well as regular newsletters and relatives' evenings.

Excellent care of my brother. The home goes above and beyond to try to ensure his care is met with eg. extras like silky sheets for turning him. Nothing is too much trouble.

My experience of Worcester Lodge is excellent - the care they provided to my mother, the love they showed, the staff are always smiling and happy to help, the number of activities they do is truly exceptional. The newsletter and social media page just shows how much they put into keeping the residents
active in all sorts of ways. My mother passed away in early April and had been bedridden for a number of weeks. The staff were amazing the way they cared for her - whenever I went in she was always in a clean nightie, and clean bed sheets and looked clean and well cared for. They provided a voice assistant for my mum's room so that she could listen to the music she loved and I know staff spent time sitting with her and reading to her or talking to her, even though she could not properly communicate. The manager was truly exceptional - she was always thinking about my mum and how the staff could make her last few weeks the best they could be. I cannot thank her or the staff enough.

Thank you for your incredibly kind words, it is a pleasure to hear that the level of excellence we strive for was present throughout your mother's care whilst she was resident at the home - from the domestic team to the activities, everyone working together as a community to provide the care possible.

My husband had such wonderful care whilst living at Worcester Lodge, I was there most days and witnessed such compassion shown to everyone. The home provides plenty of activities for residents to enjoy and encourage them to take part. They are also taken out on a regular basis, to places of interest
and fun. My husband was not able to walk on his own but was encouraged to join in where he could, with kindness and respect.
When he became ill and needed nursing care, the team nursed him until the end. I was so grateful to them all, for the love and support they showed to the both of us.

Excellent care. Loads of activities for residents. I am happy that my mum is in such a great home. Lots of social media photos from the home which are invaluable. I live a distance away so seeing the posts is great for me.

When researching residential care for Mum I visited almost every care home in Clevedon (and some elsewhere, too) and I honestly cannot think of a better place for Mum to be.
She is well looked after and she seems to appreciate the calm/peaceful atmosphere at Worcester Lodge. I am grateful to be made
to feel welcome whenever I visit.

My mum passed away at The Lodge after nine months of living her best dementia life with the caring staff and other residents. The staff took great care of her as she was prone to falls. It has been a great comfort to us to know that she had such good quality of life whilst at the home.

The thing that really means a lot to me about Worcester Lodge is its social media page for friends and relatives. I live 300 miles away and don't get to see my mum very often. But Worcester Lodge's social media page means I have seen more of my mum in the last 12 months than I have in the last couple
of years. Photos of her doing activities, having breakfast, having her nails done, and going for a walk. They mean the world to me. It makes me feel included and welcome. The worry with care homes can be that you cannot always be confident of what happens within the four walls. Worcester Lodge's willingness to share its activities reassures me that my mum is being rightly cherished and is receiving care and stimulus. This means such a lot to me especially as we were slightly apprehensive about her going into a home. The staff are warm and committed and have made us still feel like part of mum's life. I would recommend Worcester Lodge wholeheartedly.

We cannot speak more highly about the staff and the effort they put in to keep my mother safe and well. During Covid, the activities coordinators excelled themselves and kept the residents very occupied and entertained. We would thoroughly recommend Worcester Lodge to anyone considering a care home
for a loved one. A loving, caring and active environment. Thank you.

My husband has been in here for four years and it's been very good but now he is on end of life care it has gone up to excellent. This is in spite of it being a care home and not a nursing home.

My mum was happy when I saw her there at Christmas last year but then my mum moved on to another home due to her mobility and her care needs. A month after she moved, I lost my mum who passed away in February this year. I’d like to say a big thank you to the staff and the support which was given by
the management and staff at Worcester Lodge. Sorry if this is taking too long for me to write a review up. I just take each day as it comes now as mum is not gonna say thank you for being part of her life and taking good care of her, I couldn’t have asked for a better place for her to be in.

Mum always seems content in the home. The nurses alerted her GP to spells of dizziness and her GP examined her and did some tests. One of the supervisors supported me in filling out an attendance allowance form.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.540)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.540) out of 10 for Worcester Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.740 for Worcester Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.74

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Worcester Lodge is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
