My mother was only here for 28-day assessment on Pathway 3. I have found the staff excellent and supportive and treat mum with respect. I find the home welcoming and secure.

I was very impressed with the home overall and the staff were all exceptionally attentive and friendly. Mum was only there a short while but I simply couldn't fault anything. The home was beautiful and we could of wished nothing more for our Mum

Mum was a resident in Frenchay House from May 2022 until we lost her in January 2024. She received amazing care from all staff and not only did they look after Mum but also looked after dad when he visited her on a daily basis.

Frenchay House were very supportive when we asked if we could have a bench in the garden to remember Dad. Even though Dad had passed away a year previous to his bench being in the garden, it was still difficult and Frenchay House understood that, giving us time to be quiet and remember Dad. Their care
and thoughtfulness made all the difference - thank you!

Over the last few years, my mum has had respite in other homes which in fairness have been good but none have compared to the high-quality and sense of loving care that mum has enjoyed at Frenchay House, where mum has now lived as a permanent resident for almost a year. We have found the team of staff
to be both compassionate and joyful in the most trying of circumstances. They have helped my family enormously by going the extra mile for both mum and the rest of my family at some considerable cost to themselves, but they have taken it all in their stride for mum's sake. We don't think that other homes would have shown the same detailed care in similar circumstances. Therefore, I can honestly say that we all feel the loving embrace of our new Frenchay Family and thank the fabulous team, far too many to mention individually, to which mum and my family are so grateful.

My 91-year-old mother went into Frenchay House for respite which turned into a permanent placement in June 2021. She still has full capacity but her mobility has declined considerably during the last 12 months. We have been thoroughly happy with the level of care my mother has received. The staff are
especially friendly and caring and cannot do enough to keep my mother happy. Excellent care and we highly recommend this home to others.

My mother was here until the end of her life and I cannot speak highly enough of the care she was given. The atmosphere of the home is comfortable and the staff are wonderful and demonstrate an excellent standard of care. They treated mum (and us) as their extended 'family'. The food is nutritious and
cooked fresh on the premises and served in a restaurant-style dining room with a friendly atmosphere. However, whenever mum did not feel able to cope with the dining room, they happily served her in her room and even offered alternative menus for her. The home also offered regular activities for the residents to take part in if they wished. They have an excellent hairdresser on Fridays and regular medical visits from a local doctor.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.354)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.354) out of 10 for Frenchay House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.754 for Frenchay House is calculated as follows: ( (56 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4.754

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Frenchay House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
