My auntie has been a resident at Little Croft for nearly 2 and a half years. It is a fantastic care home and I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else. All the staff are fantastic and nothing is ever too much trouble. It is very clear they are passionate about the care they give to all the residents.
I honestly cannot praise them enough. Little croft is very homely and welcoming and always such a lovely atmosphere when I visit even through these difficult times. The meals look delicious and the activities are brilliant. I'm always telling the rest of the family and my friends how great you all are! Thank you so much to all the staff for the care you give to my auntie. It's great peace of mind knowing she is very well looked after.

My mother was very anti care home, however, her dementia became worse over lockdown. We persuaded her to take a short break. Whilst there she joined in activities, ate well and kept clean and tidy every day. The last time I visited on Saturday (my regular spot) she was so happy telling me she really
liked it there and since then has been accepted as a permanent resident. We had a good laugh. The staff are second to none. Nothing is too much trouble. We can ring anytime night or day. There is a WhatsApp video which can be used, in this present climate nothing is ‘the norm’ at the moment, and at the moment only one visitor (me). They have very active Christmas activities in the lead up to Christmas. Unfortunately, the only downside is she can’t come out at the moment through no fault of anyone. But I am confident we've made the right choice of home and a weight lifted off our shoulders (my brother and me). She is happy.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.122)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.122) out of 10 for Little Croft Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for Little Croft Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.122 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Croft Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.2 = 0.122

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am proud to say I am the Registered Manager for Little Croft Care Home and I have been in this position for the past 13 years.

I started my career working as a staff trainer in retail and then completely changed my role to follow my passion of working in care. I began working in a hospital specialising in Mental Health and Dementia. I then progressed my career through further training and began working for a housing association as a Senior Manager for extra care housing.

Since taking up my role at Little Croft Care Home, I have gained many qualifications, including the Registered Managers Award, as well as a vast amount of experience. My focus is to provide a comfortable and welcoming home that enables residents to feel safe, calm and at ease, with laughter and fun along the way.

Outside of work, I am a wife, mother, grandmother and I adore spending quality time with my family, especially my young grandchildren. I enjoy social evenings, music, reading and walking my 2 dogs Poppy and Rosie.

I have also taken a course in Dementia and I am a qualified Dementia Link Worker. I really enjoy my role and overseeing the care home, alongside the Registered Manager Carol. I recently got married in 2021 and my husband and I enjoy walking with our new addition to the family, Bear. He is a Bear Coated Shar-pei and is only one year old. He will sometimes come to work with me and spends time with the residents, who really enjoy seeing him, with residents sometimes asking where he is, as they miss him when he is not around. In my spare time at home, I enjoy looking after my tropical fish tanks, reading, and going for walks with Bear.
