The transition from my home to Menwinnion Country House Care Home has been very good. Happy with the way family are welcomed into Menwinnion Country House Care Home and the service they receive - always offered tea/coffee etc.

Have visited our friend quite regularly over the past three years. I have always been impressed with all I have seen and if I had to go into a home it would be the one I would choose. Have had a few meals out there and the quality and standard are excellent. The staff I have seen have always been courteous
and professional. The general manager keeps a close eye on things and in my opinion, this is reflected by the staff. Well done, keep up the good work looking after the elderly and frail.

From kitchen staff, cleaners and carers, everyone has been helpful and pleasant, making my life here as good as it can be. My wish to stay in my room was accepted which suits me and altogether I am reasonably content with my life at Menwinnion.

My mother in law seems very happy at Menwinnion. The care she receives is excellent and her carers and management teams do a great job.

Although I was glad and grateful to be given a room initially at Menwinnion. I find myself being totally unable to recommend them. There are good points: The food by one Chef in particular was SO amazing (I'll certainly miss this!), and the views are indeed beautiful and therapeutic. There are mostly,
some lovely Carers here...both male and female with a range of ages and personalities. Some of them really do seem to love caring for others. Some Staff however don't seem as happy in their work. I also found some of those 'in charge' to be very judgmental, uncaring, and unprofessional, attitudes which I feel unfortunately have rubbed off on a few of the staff, lowering general morale. The current Manager (who is on holiday) I have to say has been EXCELLENT, so maybe when they return, things might improve! Thank you to those who did give me the respite care I needed, some very kind people working in difficult circumstances...but I feel totally relieved to be free of the chaotic management style.

An extra toilet on the main floor might be helpful.

It was the first time my father had been in a care home and his first stay was a great success. His taster day the month before allowed him to meet the staff and understand what his respite stay would be about. So on his arrival for his week stay things were familiar to him. All the staff were friendly,
professional and very welcoming. When we picked him up at the end of the week he said how well he had been looked after, how lovely the food was and how comfortable he had been. It's a great reassurance to know that he was safe and so well cared for whilst we were away. He so enjoyed himself that he is already talking about what he will do when he stays again in June.

This is the fourth year of my parents residence at Menwinnion. I have been extremely impressed with the consistently high standard of care that they have, and continue to receive from compassionate and well-trained staff. Every care has been attended to, every effort is made to ensure that their dignity
has been respected and every request that they have made, been listened to. The team are wonderful and treat everyone as members of a larger extended family. They have brought a new lease of life to my parents and I cannot rate them highly enough, by far the best service provider in the area

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.523)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.523) out of 10 for Menwinnion Country House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.723 for Menwinnion Country House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.723

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Menwinnion Country House Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
