With a devoted manager who has been with the home for over 20 years, and a deputy manager of over 15 years, Pengover is highly respected in the local community.

With just 36 bedrooms, the home has four wings, each with its own cosy lounge, where residents can relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time and often enjoy taking part in activities with the residents. From animal therapy sessions and baking, to live entertainment from singers and musicians, there’s so much to do.

Outside there are extensive gardens surrounding the home, with wheelchair friendly pathways. Many of the bedrooms have garden views. The back garden is completely enclosed and features planters and raised beds. There is also a vegetable patch where residents enjoy growing their own produce, harvesting it for the chef to use in the kitchen. The team is also planning on creating a mini allotment area ready for the summer.

The local community is embraced into life in the home, including local college students who take part in intergenerational activities. The home also has a ‘Mobii’, where residents can play interactive light games which are projected onto the floor.

There is a spacious central dining room, where the residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals together, prepared by the home’s chef. From roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays and home-baking for afternoon tea.

The home also has a hairdressing salon, for regular appointments with a mobile hairdresser who visits weekly. The residents also enjoy pamper sessions, with manicures and hand massages.

Providing residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care, the team at Pengover also offers respite care breaks. These are ideal for family carers who would like to take a break of their own, with the peace of mind of knowing their loved one is in safe hands.

This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

I am in complete awe of every single staff member in Pengover, my father went to stay with them in an emergency when his dementia suddenly got much worse and we could no longer cope. We were initially worried because he was an hours drive away from home but having spent time there with him we quickly
realised what an amazing place it is and decided to make it a permanent move. Sadly he passed in March, but I cannot fault the love and care shown to him and us in what was an extremely difficult time. Everything was spotlessly clean at all times and all the staff were just such amazing people even when dad was being very difficult. I can't explain my gratitude to them all for making an unbearable illness that little bit easier to cope with.

A bright, clean and happy family environment, the staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Nothing is ever too much trouble and Mum always looks nicely dressed and clean. The food is amazing, always lovely home cooked meals with a nice variety of home nutritious meals. There is always music or

My mother took up residence in June. From the first day, the carers took time to settle her with great kindness. The nursing care was wonderful. Nothing too much trouble. Mother's room was bright and clean with plenty of room. Her last days were handled with dignity and extremely good care. My family
and myself were given good support to deal with a very sad time. I would recommend Pengover House to anyone.

I moved my mother from another home in Liskeard.
My mother has medium dementia and is quite able to communicate. This was the best move I could have made for her. She (as other residents) is treated with great respect and patience at all times. The staff are also welcoming to me and my relatives which
make visiting a pleasure for us all. The atmosphere is relaxed, even jovial, yet efficient. Nothing is perfect but Pengover goes a long way to approaching this. Any problems I raise are listened to and dealt with.

My Dad was in Pengover House for a short time, however during the time he was there I was impressed by the care he received. Despite not knowing him very well the Registered Nurses were very quick to pick up on when his condition was deteriorating and access the appropriate care for him. They were quick
to communicate with us and I felt very involved in his care options. On the day Dad died staff were caring and, as a family, they offered us care and support during the time we were there. They ensured our Dad died with dignity and respect and made sure he was comfortable. Thank you to all the staff.

When visiting my mother-in-law I have found the staff extremely helpful in all capacities. She has been kept very comfortable, clean and out of pain. All staff have treated her with respect and her dignity has been priority at all times. My mother-in-law could only drink and was in bed full time so
I cannot comment on food or activities, but what I did see of the food it was first class on all occasions. I am extremely pleased with all aspects of the home and I would recommend Pengover House to my friends.

Dad was resident at Pengover House from October 2017 to Jan 2018 when he passed away. Staff were very professional and caring. The general theme was that residents were treated with dignity and given choices. Nursing care was excellent. We are only sorry that dad didn't have the time to benefit from
the community feel and activities provided.

Mum has been at Pengover House for approximately two years. In this time we, my family, have felt the care is satisfactory. We feel there could be improvements. The activities are not as good as they used to be - last year they were better. ]


We have bought aprons for mum to wear during mealtimes

but unfortunately, they are rarely put on mum and have been seen on other residents. Toilet checks should be done regularly. Mum is often wet.

My mother as been a resident since May 2015. My experience although fairly limited is of a caring environment where nothing is too much trouble and the carers are always polite are are often working with residents who can be fairly wearing on the soul. I would say that they all go above and beyond the
call of duty to ensure that everyone is probably taken care of. When my mother first came here she was depressed incontinent and unable to walk. She is sitting with us now very happy able to walk unaided and able to feed herself. The care staff deserve a medal.

Joined: 2002

I started my journey in 2002 working for Cornwall Care and Pengover as a care assistant then progressing to senior care assistant after completing my degree in Psychology.


As I grew into my role an opportunity to become a Deputy Manager came up and I was fortunate to apply and was successful. I worked closely with the Manager, learning more skills to ensure that Pengover, the clients, staff and family members felt valued and respected.


I remained in the role of Deputy for five years, during this time I completed my Operations Departmental Management CMI level 5. This opportunity gave me insight not only into myself but also into Management style and leadership styles.


In 2022 I applied for and was successful in the role of registered Manager. I continue to learn, I feel that learning and evolving are never-ending.


I am passionate about Pengover, the clients we care for, the staff we support and the families that visit their loved ones.


I believe that Pengover is a home, not only for the clients we care for but also for
staff, family members and visitors.
