Woodland is a thriving, happy home where the residents’ lives are enriched with the care of a fantastic and devoted team.

Winner of the Best Performing Home in Cornwall at Sanctuary Care’s annual Home Managers’ Conference 2023, the home manager has been with Woodland since 2011. She and her team are passionate about organising experiences and activities which bring their residents such joy.

There is such a warm, family feel to the home and family and friends are truly embraced into life at Woodland, as are the relatives of the staff, some of whom are volunteers and help with gardening and other activities.

There is also a private family and friends Facebook page, so relatives can see what their loved ones have been enjoying doing, even if they can’t be there each day in person.

The team is passionate about embracing the local community into the home, with regular visitors including students from Cornwall College, who enjoy intergenerational activities with the residents.

There are regular performers and entertainers, including a local drumming group, singers, and organisations who bring in animals for pet therapy, with everything from dogs and guinea pigs to rabbits and snakes!

There is a hair salon, for regular appointments with a mobile hairdresser. And many of the residents enjoy pampering sessions, with manicures and face masks. The home also has a Tiki bar!

Other popular activities are baking and gardening. This summer the residents have loved growing their own produce for the chef to use in the kitchen, with everything from courgettes to runner beans, as well as home-grown flowers for flower arranging activities.

There are welcoming lounges and a large light and airy dining area, where the residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals together, with everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings, fish and chip Fridays, and home-baking for afternoon tea.

  • Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1469, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

My mother has been a resident at Woodlands for 5 years now; the staff have supported her extremely well through some very, very challenging physical, mental and underlying social issues, and have encouraged her in every way possible.


They have exceeded their remit, as an EMA registered home, and

their care, under the guidance of their management and senior staff, has kept her out of psychiatric hospital.


The home has been superb in trying to access specialist services which she has needed, and the day to day care she has received from the kind and cheerful staff has been of the best quality. The food is good and residents' tastes catered for.


The activities are varied, and there is a member of staff who coordinates these, and, bringing a friend in for a special event, the friend, who has had a lot of experience of homes, commented on how bright and friendly the atmosphere was.


My mother said, a while ago "This is my home now; I feel secure here", and that meant a lot.

My mother was at the point when she needed 24-hour care.
Having worked in the hospital/care industry and knowing the care homes in the area, we chose Woodlands from start to finish. We were treated with dignity and nothing was too much trouble. Staff all pleasant, management flexible, it was the right
choice for us. 5* treatment.

My husband received excellent care at Woodland. All staff were kind, compassionate and caring. It was a stressful time for me and my family. The staff supported us all the time. When I visited I was greeted with smiles and hugs. I felt they were my extended family. Without their support I would not
have coped. They went well past their remit to look after us.

My brother was at Woodland for over three months and despite delays in finding a more suitable home for him, the manager and staff were truly amazing. He should have been moved months before, but all the staff were so kind and caring to him and his family. The staff, from the top to the bottom were
always cheerful and very professional, despite lack of support from CPN Social Services in helping to get my brother in a more suitable establishment.

Everyone is cheerful and helpful. My mother has settled in so well from Sept 15. Her cat now stays with her which has made her very happy and we are grateful to the manager for letting this happen.
