Bishopsteignton House is a grand Victorian villa. Their main values are to treat residents as their own mother or father would want to be treated. Their staff have been with the service for a long time and take pride in not just being professional carers but an extended family for all residents.

As a residential home, residents tend to be quite able, but still require the love and support that can only be received through a 24-hour care home. The residents enjoy a friendly, happy, home-from-home atmosphere - getting to know the carers and their fellow residents well.

Residents are encouraged to join in on the daily activities, eat well, sleep well and socialise. The home is very focused on helping its residents to recapture that sparkle for life. And as a smaller home, staff treat the residents as individuals and have time to pay attention to the little things.

Longer-term residential care and also day-care are available. In day-care, individuals may choose to join the home during the day but go back to their own home during the night. Shorter visits are also available (for example coming for a couple of hours to join for a cup of tea and a bath) and joining in activities with the home's friendly little family.

My Mum moved into Bishopsteignton House 6 months ago and settled in quickly and easily. The staff was welcoming, immediately making her feel at home and she is happier than she has been for quite a while.
She enjoys the activities (especially the recent VE Day commemoration party!) and she says the
food is very good. The residents appear happy and relaxed and on one of my visits, I experienced an impromptu group sing-song which was instigated by a resident playing his harmonica!
I have found all the staff to be committed and cheerful and everyone, from management down, is very approachable when things need to be discussed.
Both Mum and I are very lucky to have found such a "home from home" establishment.

I have a very comfortable room and I am able to have some of my own furniture so it feels more like home. The care staff are excellent and have coped extremely well at this very difficult time. They are always so cheerful. The home-cooked food is very nice. The home has a beautiful garden.

I live at Bishopsteignton house and I enjoy my life here. We have recently not been able to see our families which is hard but the manager and staff have been so good at keeping our spirits up. The food is good and I can lead my life the way I wish. Staff have been marvellous over this time, spending
much needed time in our company making us smile.

All the staff are very friendly and helpful.
I enjoy the activities and how we are encouraged to participate in them. I recently gave a talk about the Moors which I enjoy doing very much.
My family are always made to feel welcome.
The food is lovely and the home has a warm homely feel to it.

I live at Bishopsteignton House and have a lovely room. We have not been having visitors for a while and the staff have really tried extra hard to keep us all cheerful. They work extremely hard without complaint. I’m a vegetarian which I was worried about coming here but they make sure I have a good
choice.

I have a beautiful room that leads out straight into the conservatory. I take my daily exercise out there each morning. The house is beautiful and well looked after.
The standard of care is excellent, everyone is so friendly and kind.
The food is very good and there is always a choice.

I came here with my wife, who has sadly past away now. The staff were so good to her, and continue to look after me very well too. I especially enjoy our activities afternoons. The food is plentiful, and I have some good friends here too. I have recently been unwell, and it was so lovely to come home
once more to my new family.

The house is beautiful and set in beautiful surroundings. I have a fantastic view from my room.
The carers are very kind, and nothing is too much trouble.
I really enjoy joining in the quizzes and the music.
The chefs are very good and friendly; I enjoy the food they prepare because it's all home-cooked

Mum and Dad moved to Bishopsteignton House in July 2019. The transition, potentially difficult, was made with relative ease and facilitated by the ‘can-do’ attitude of the management team coupled with the empathy, care and consideration shown by all staff. Mum and Dad now readily call Bishopsteignton
House their home. The general atmosphere, sponsored by management, senior carers and staff - is committed, professional and caring – and also homely and compassionate. Whilst the environment is secure and well-monitored [day and night] both the ‘public spaces’ and individual rooms are clean, warm and homely. The food is excellent, the afternoon cake wonderful and ‘special events’ [eg the Summer Fete] are great fun. Staff are motivated by an evident sense of purpose and there appears an all-important continuity here. Since moving, Mum and Dad have become physically and mentally stronger - this due to the care and commitment of staff and the atmosphere created and sponsored by management.

Mum has been at Bishopsteignton House for fifteen months now and in that time she has always been treated with respect and kindness. The staff are without exception caring, friendly and professional and in our experience always have the best interests of the resident at heart. The home is warm, comfortable
and well maintained. The food is excellent and we have enjoyed eating there ourselves! We have every confidence in Bishopsteignton House and are reassured that Mum is receiving the kind of compassionate and sympathetic care we would wish for her.

Choosing a home for a loved one can be a very traumatic experience. Feelings of guilt and letting your loved one down comes to mind. When my husband and myself first visited Bishopsteignton house, we instantly liked what we saw and could feel a lovely warm friendly atmosphere. It was like home from
home, down to the lovely smell of baking.


Every member of staff we came into contact with was friendly and helpful. The manager was very caring and approachable. Sadly mum passed away and her individual care was excellent to the end. She was treated with love, care and dignity.

My wife has vascular dementia and has been in this care home for two years. I have noted how good and considerate the management and staff have been to the residents, giving them genuine loving care.
The care home is spotlessly clean and the food is varied and delicious, indeed I have eaten with my
wife on several occasions and enjoyed every meal.

Feel happy with my mother's care overall. Home welcoming and lovely setting and gardens. The majority of staff very caring, just seem very busy with the workload. Mum seems happy and settled but because she is reluctant to leave her room I feel she sometimes misses out on the care and attention because
of the business of staff.

I have found the caring for my mother and the understanding of staff have for her completely and without exception, wonderful. As she is getting older she is needing more care and understanding and they give her that. This also helps me so much knowing that my Mum is as happy as she can be and I don't
have to feel guilty or worry about her being in Bishopsteignton House. I always get a telephone call if there is a problem with Mum, like a fall and have trust in them. The staff also have the much-needed sense of humour.

My brother was a resident at Bishopsteignton House for just over two months. I am his only relative and live in the East of England so was only able to visit him on a couple of occasions. The care he received was wonderful. All the staff were very caring and made the last weeks of his life happy and
comfortable. Their support for me at this difficult time was excellent. All members of staff were kind and reassuring and I was kept informed. I cannot thank them enough.
