After a difficult start in the dementia care system elsewhere, my father settled in quickly he is now happy, integrated and appreciated by the lovely staff.
We are kept informed and knowing his medical needs are met is very comforting.

My experience at Hilldales has been good and bad with my drink problem. But now I'm clean and sober after a couple of years. I feel really good in myself.

Could not be happier with the staff at this care home.
They look after my dad 24/7 and go above and beyond.
The staff will contact me anytime my dad needs anything.
When he wanted to add a TV channel to his room, they were really accommodating and had no problems with us getting it sorted.

Hilldale saved my life! I was an alcoholic when I was admitted. Frankly, I have no recollection of getting here but I came from a hospital where I had been for a while. My experience here has been amazing. I have received counselling sessions which have weaned me off the booze. Food is restaurant standard.
Staff are caring and cheerful even in the face of provocation from residents. The staff are saints. The room is comfortable and regularly cleaned. Management of the home and residents is spot on. I would recommend this amazing sanctuary to anyone and everyone.

Firstly I would like to thank you for your outstanding review. Here at Hilldales we feel very proud of success stories and how well we have done as a team from all departments of the home to assist you and our other residents to feel more safe, secure and independent with your daily lives. As a home, we could not have achieved this without your own hard work, dedication and willingness to accept our care and support. I must say that you should feel very proud of yourself for what you have achieved and how far you have come in wanting to engage in your own road to recovery, we could not have done this without you. Thank you again for the lovely review and we all look forward to working with you to fulfil more of your achievements.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.788)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.788) out of 10 for Hilldales Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.842 for Hilldales Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 4.842

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.946 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hilldales Residential Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.2 = 0.446

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
