Malden House is a truly elegant country residence that is steeped in period charm yet filled with warmth and understanding. The original house, which dates back to 1820, has been thoughtfully re-designed, and recently extended, incorporating many original features to provide a safe, appealing and comfortable home for its residents.

Located in the picturesque coastal town of Sidmouth in East Devon, Malden House nestles comfortably in the beautiful countryside and lies within a short walk of the sandstone cliffs of the Sid Valley. A fully-trained, compassionate and caring team has created an exceptional residential care home equipped with 29 bedrooms and spaces inside and out to enjoy both companionship and privacy.

Residents can relax in the communal areas, enjoy all inclusive homemade meals in the dining rooms or enjoy the fresh air in the gardens. Video calling is also available to keep up to date with friends and family along with an all inclusive laundry service.

The staff are caring and patient. I think the laundry system could be improved. I am not sure how often the bedding is changed and also some of my husband's clothes go missing for weeks at a time. I do not know who to approach with this as the carers are, understandably, busy with the residents. Pants
and socks are difficult to identify and I appreciate that but pyjamas and jogging bottoms go missing and the wrong trousers are returned.

After looking after my cousin for the last six months, I reluctantly decided it was time for her to go into a care home. We lived close to the home for a number of years so it was the first one I tried. They could not have been more helpful and my cousin moved in within a week. Her room is lovely and
the staff could not have been more welcoming. As I have been unwell over the Christmas period I was even sent a photo showing her having a good time. Some other relatives visited this week and they were extremely impressed.

Having lived in Malden for a few years very happily, my mother passed away at the end of November. I would like to commend all the staff at Malden House for their empathy and the exceptional end of life care they gave my mother. Their dealings with my father and all of the family was exemplary and they
helped to ease us all although my mum's final journey. We cannot thank them enough.

My husband has been attending Malden House for once a week daycare for six months, he also had a two-night respite stay in the summer. He's been made so welcome by the management team and staff, and I feel welcome when I drop him off and collect. It's always good to see the full-time residents, in what's
a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Thanks so much, Malden House, the weekly daycare has made a positive difference to us both.

A hidden gem of a care facility on the outskirts of the popular seaside town of Sidmouth. It runs as a well-oiled machine providing exceptional personal care either one-to-one or in a group setting. Obviously the staff have received a high level of training through the guidance of a high-level management
team. Would highly recommend.

Today was a special celebration for my relative and his wife. The staff at Malden House went out of their way to welcome us and help celebrate their Golden wedding anniversary. He is always happy and confident to be living at Malden House when we visit him. We appreciate the photos on social media,

We received a very warm welcome when we went to visit Malden House and again when my husband went for a two-week respite break. The staff were very caring and helpful. Communications with the home were excellent - very prompt replies to messages and I felt very informed about how my husband was settling
in. An issue which caused my husband to feel uncomfortable during the early days of his stay was resolved swiftly and satisfactorily.
I was able to have a break from my role as a carer knowing that my husband was in very safe hands and in a very comfortable environment.

We have been very reassured by how well my father has been cared for with dignity as his dementia slowly declines. The carer keeps me very up-to-date with his progress and any changes. I don’t think I would see how anything could be improved. We are very happy.

I am Tabitha and I am the Registered Manager of our lovely home, Malden House.


Having been a member of the Malden and Hartford Care family for over 10 years, I have had the privilege of supporting the people who live in our home to live their best lives. Our residents are able to choose what they want to do each day and have support to fulfil their wildest dreams and wishes.


It is my passion to ensure everyone who enters our home is having a brilliant day and feels like a true part of our family.

My name is Gabrielle, but better known as Gabby. I have worked in care since 1992 and can honestly say I have enjoyed many parts of this rewarding profession.


I have performed many roles and each one has brought different things to the table. It has meant that I have had the privilege of meeting and caring for so many people from different walks of life, different characters and different concerns.


I have worked at Malden House for thirteen years. I feel honoured that I have reached the point where I can support as Deputy Manager alongside Tabitha our Manager.


We understand what a difficult transition it is for elderly people, some with dementia to move into a care setting but this extends to the families too. We aim to support all.


I feel privileged to work in such a caring home and I feel honoured to share the experiences and lives of our ladies and gentlemen who have done so much for us and even the country as a whole.
