Mallands is a family run residential care home committed to providing high quality care with a personal touch. Of course, the fundamentals of being Safe, Caring, Effective and Responsive are the foundations of high-quality care but their aim and purpose is to support people to live their lives as fully as possible.

Staff endeavour to provide meaningful occupation for people to remain an active participant in the local community and continue to enjoy life as fully as possible. Mallands is a community within a community.

They help to support people live their lives as fully as possible and believe it's the strong relationships they build with residents and their families, as well as understanding people’s backgrounds and interests that allow true support and companionship.

Situated in the pretty South Devon village of Abbotskerswell, 3 miles from the market town of Newton Abbot and 4 miles from the coastal resort of Torquay. The home is maintained to a high standard with attractive mature gardens, providing a peaceful and tranquil environment.

All the staff took great care of my mother through her several months of stroke recovery. I could always speak to her on the phone when I needed to which was a great comfort as I live abroad. I would thoroughly recommend the home and all the care team to anyone.

My mum loves Mallands, she is loved by the manager and her team. She is well cared for and keeps up to date on her well being and any changes. The staff do a great job doing activities to keep her mind occupied. Overall an excellent home.

Mum was very happy there. The care manager and the carers looked after mum very well. When mum was recently on end of life care, the care she received was wonderful. We couldn't have asked for more! So grateful to them all, especially the manager who sat with mum all night, watching over her!

Mother-in-law had been at the home for the last 3 years and enjoyed her stay. The management and staff have been great during those years. She was taken ill and had to go into hospital but at 96 years old, there was little they could do as all of her organs were failing. She wanted to go back to Mallands
to die. The management and staff were really wonderful over the last five days of her life. The manager stayed with her all through the night on two evenings. Very caring staff.

I am the neighbour of a lady resident here at Mallands on respite for 2 weeks. The home in general is very good. I have been surprised how well my friend has settled in and given support from a very friendly, knowledgeable management team. One of the seniors is very friendly and helpful, when we ask
any questions they are answered.

Early days yet as mum went into Mallands on 5th January 2016. However, first impressions are;
Caring and friendly staff. Positive relationships between staff and residents and staff to staff. Good level of staffing. Good range of activities for residents to partake in. Good (home cooked) food and snacks.
Positive ethos/environment. Clean home and residents dressed well.

My mother has been a resident here for a year. The staff and manager are all very kind, respectful to their residents and very patient. There is a great variety of entertainment and mum loves to sit outside when the weather allows. I am very pleased that mum has lunch and supper in the dining room.
Mum bedroom is always spotless and she enjoys regular showers.

When my mother moved to the home I felt very reassured by the manager for her care and support and has more than lived up to expectations. I can contact the manager anytime and have confidence in the manager. The maintenance man is very good also, lovely personality, nothing too much trouble. Always
some form of activity taking place for the residents. The activities coordinator shows enthusiasm for the job. The staff appear to be very caring, the manager approachable and very dedicated to her job.

My mother moved to The Mallands in September 2015. We were impressed by the homely atmosphere, and always feel welcome when we visit. The staff are very friendly, caring and capable and did their best to help mum settle quickly into her new surroundings. Management are always willing to discuss and,
if necessary, rectify any concerns the family may have. The rooms are very pleasant, the meals are always excellent and activities are varied and plentiful. We would definitely have no hesitation in recommending The Mallands.

I have got to know owners (a little) management (well) and most of the staff. They have a good relationship with one another which is good. Staff seem caring and committed to their job. My husband has been a resident at Mallands for eighteen months. I visit several times a week and I am invariably welcomed, a hot drink is available and I will be told of any little 'happenings' since my last visit. I always receive a phone call if there is any greater concern like an infection. The
staff are very friendly and supportive and very solicitous in my husband's care. He identifies well with them. I have noticed the same level of care and attention with others and have no doubt that this, together with excellent food, cleaning and maintenance are the result of caring ownership, a great handyman and a dedicated, devoted, knowledgeable manager.

Mum came in on respite care and has received excellent care and attention. Obviously the first day is settling in but mum has improved enormously in such a short time which wasn't apparent in a hospital ward. Mum needed rest and peace to recover from her injury which is what she has found at Mallands-
