Good afternoon. Thank you for this feedback in relation to your experience with our Care Team and Care Home at The Manor in Exminster. It's really lovely to read that your brother-in-law, though frail, is in better health than when he became a resident at The Manor. We certainly do encourage our residents to go outside to enjoy the secure garden area or the central courtyard where many enjoy being involved with growing plants in the raised beds. The Manor also has the ability to book one of the two company mini busses throughout the year. Please do speak with the Care Home Manager if you have any concerns that your brother-in-law may not be getting as much opportunity to spend time outside as he would like. Hello Elizabeth B. Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback in relation to your experience with our Care Team and Care Home at The Manor in Exminster. I note your comments with regards to your friend's declining mental and physical condition. In all of our homes we offer a full schedule of activities, these include mobility based events - some specifically mobility-focused and others where mobility is a secondary benefit i.e. gardening, games etc. We also encourage residents to be as independent as possible and will encourage them to walk, carry out personal care etc themselves as far as it is safe to do so. We are also, of course, in regular contact with outside care professionals in relation to all of our residents' care needs. If you have any particular concerns please do, of course, speak to our Care Home Manager and we may be able to update the bespoke care package. Good afternoon, Thank you so much for sharing this very honest account of your experience when faced with the situation where your wife needed to move into a care home. Every year / day thousands of people experience the same feelings of anxiety when their personal circumstances change such that they or a loved on need the help and support that is provided in a 24 hour residential care setting. I speak to lots of residents and their loved ones in our care homes and many tell me of very similar circumstances - in particular the one where they say 'we should not have worried, I / my loved one is so much happier and healthier now he / she is here...' In all cases this successful transition is 90% plus down to the hard work, dedication and professionalism of care teams - and our team at The Manor are no exception to that rule.
