The Manor Exminster is a grand 17th century Georgian listed manor house that is situated in half an acre of grounds, in the pretty village of Exminster.

The property was built by the diocese of Exeter for the local Rector and his family. The home was converted into a residential care home in the mid-80s and an extension was added in 2004 that added a state of the art kitchen, more bedrooms and increased the size of the dining room.

Residents are encouraged to relax in privacy and dignity at this friendly residential care home.

My father has settled well in the home after some initial trepidation. The staff are caring, attentive and respectful, and keep me informed.

The decision to put Mum into a care home was made much easier by the warm and friendly advice given by staff. Mum has settled into her new environment quickly and is enjoying the company and safety the home has to offer.

As a family, we are very pleased with the level of care, compassion and friendliness all the staff have given her since her arrival. She is always clean and tidy. We love the interaction between staff and residents and are always made very welcome when visiting.

We visited my brother-in-law this weekend. He appears frail but in better health than before he became a resident at The Manor. I appreciate that it might be difficult to manage, but it would be good for him to be taken outside for fresh air as a change of scenery sometimes. The staff seemed friendly
and respectful. This is very much appreciated.

We certainly do encourage our residents to go outside to enjoy the secure garden area or the central courtyard where many enjoy being involved with growing plants in the raised beds. The Manor also has the ability to book one of the two company mini busses throughout the year. Please do speak with the Care Home Manager if you have any concerns that your brother-in-law may not be getting as much opportunity to spend time outside as he would like. She is becoming far less mobile than she was a year ago. She is forgetting more stuff and is chairbound. I think the residents would all benefit from daily chair-based exercises - arms, legs, neck, back - to strengthen and aid circulation and mobility. The staff are kind and helpful.

I note your comments with regards to your friend's declining mental and physical condition. In all of our homes we offer a full schedule of activities, these include mobility based events - some specifically mobility-focused and others where mobility is a secondary benefit i.e. gardening, games etc. We also encourage residents to be as independent as possible and will encourage them to walk, carry out personal care etc themselves as far as it is safe to do so. We are also, of course, in regular contact with outside care professionals in relation to all of our residents' care needs. If you have any particular concerns please do, of course, speak to our Care Home Manager and we may be able to update the bespoke care package. My mother continues to be very happy at The Manor. She enjoys the varied activities on offer. We always are very welcomed by the staff and kept updated regarding her health. Her room is kept spotlessly clean. I would recommend The Manor for any future residents. My mother has lived here for 14 years
now!

When told my wife needed a care home my feeling was of despair, dread and worry for her. I could not have been more wrong. The staff at The Manor are brilliant and have settled her into a caring, friendly environment with their professional ease.

Every year / day thousands of people experience the same feelings of anxiety when their personal circumstances change such that they or a loved on need the help and support that is provided in a 24 hour residential care setting. I speak to lots of residents and their loved ones in our care homes and many tell me of very similar circumstances - in particular the one where they say 'we should not have worried, I / my loved one is so much happier and healthier now he / she is here...' In all cases this successful transition is 90% plus down to the hard work, dedication and professionalism of care teams - and our team at The Manor are no exception to that rule. My mother-in-law moved in November 2023, my husband (her son) and I came to look around before she moved in and were very impressed with the whole place including the room she has moved into. Since she has been in I can't praise all the staff enough. They are very friendly, and welcoming and are so
dedicated to looking after all the residents. She has settled in well and the care she is receiving is excellent. We can highly recommend The Manor.

I have found the staff and management very helpful. My aunt is a difficult lady but they cope very well with her. The home is always warm and comfortable with a friendly atmosphere.

My mother is very comfortable and happy at The Manor. It is evident that she has a warm rapport with the staff, who make me welcome when I visit.
In summer, the small garden is a pleasant place to relax and chat.
As I live in the Midlands, I am not able to visit very often. However, I greatly appreciate
receipt of the monthly newsletter which enables me to see photos of Mum participating in the various crafts and activities provided by the staff.
I believe that my mother is receiving an ongoing good standard of care.
