Absolute dump, the room was full of mismatched furniture with missing knobs, the rest of the home was very scruffy, lots of dirty plates and bowls left in his room. My brother was totally miserable there, there seemed to be no interaction between staff and residents, he got pneumonia whilst in there
and ended up back in hospital and has since been moved to another home where he is happy and interacting with other residents.

Reply from Vicky Collins, Home Manager at Ashleigh Manor Care Home

I am sorry that you have had a bad experience whilst at the home. We have had a change in management recently and we are working hard to improve residents stay here. I am pleased that your relation is happy where he is now.

After a short spell in hospital my mother's partner was admitted to the Ashleigh Manor Care Home. He spent over 12 months in the care of the home. He received very good care and compassion in his gradual decline. The staff were always available for help or a comforting word. We would like to extend
our thanks for the care and compassion shown by the staff in his final days.

My dad was a resident of Ashleigh Manor from late July 2023 until February 2024 when he sadly passed away in his sleep. Throughout Dad's stay at Ashleigh Manor the staff were kind, compassionate, friendly and understanding and always treated my dad with respect and dignity.
The staff not only cared
for my dad but were also always available to listen to and support our family, always keeping us informed of dad’s progress or needs.
There was always a great variety of activities arranged for the residents ensuring that they were kept active and stimulated, yet at the same time, residents were never pressured into anything they did not feel comfortable with.
Staff were always quick to respond when anything was needed and would work tirelessly with us when Dad was struggling to eat and drink. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Ashleigh Manor as a safe, secure and welcoming home for your loved one.

My dad was a resident at Ashleigh Manor, since late July 2023. He had many health issues, including vascular dementia, and recently passed away peacefully, in his sleep. The change was traumatic for him, but the kindness and compassion shown throughout his stay enabled him to feel comfortable enough
that he came to refer to Ashleigh Manor as home. At each visit, this home was clean and fresh. Every member of staff that took care of Dad always did so cheerfully and with a smile on their faces. Any request for assistance was always answered promptly, and Dad was always treated with kindness, respect and dignity. The staff and management are lovely, kind people who also support family and keep communication open and honest. They provide no end of activities daily to keep the residents as active and stimulated as possible, and it was lovely to see them having fun.
I can't thank them enough for the care they provided Dad, and I would highly recommend this facility.

My mum had an unplanned move into Ashleigh Manor following discharge from hospital due to having dementia and not being safe for her to return to her own home.
From the moment that she arrived, she was made to feel welcome. My mum's condition has deteriorated significantly over the ten months since
moving into care but the staff at Ashleigh Manor have supported her in the most compassionate and patient way, despite her behaviour being extremely challenging. They always kept me informed if there were any issues and let Mum call me whenever she wanted to. She was able to bring in any items that would help her to settle in and be as relaxed as possible.
I would recommend Ashleigh Manor to anyone looking for a good residential home for a loved one. Although it may not be the most high-spec and modern setting, the home is clean and spacious and all the staff are warm and welcoming which, at times when someone may feel frightened and confused, is most important. Thank you!

Ashleigh Manor is a wonderful care home and most of the time all needs are met.
They arranged a lovely visit from Pilgrim Pete for my dad who has dementia and he absolutely loved it. The staff always call if there are any issues. Thank you for taking care of dad.

My Auntie was taken to Ashley Manor from the hospital with a fractured wrist. She was given an upstairs room with a single bed, the only alarm for help was a black plastic mat on the floor which she needed to get herself up from the bed with nothing to use, bearing in mind she had a fractured wrist,
then put her foot on the mat, which I thought was shocking. The toilet cubicle was so small, it was very difficult to help her if needed. I wasn't very happy with the home from day one for several reasons, after a few weeks she had a fall, which I wasn't surprised about. She was taken to hospital where she sadly passed away that night, I would never let anyone I know go there, terrible place!

I am very thankful for the hard work and compassion put in by the team at Ashleigh Manor. My nan had a recent stay for 3 weeks after a fall and surgery. Nan is a very anxious person who needs reassurance and a lot of attention. She is normally independent so this was hard for her to rely solely on others.
Ashleigh Manor went above and beyond to help and support through some dark times. The manager was very supportive of the staff and even stayed to help Nan out overnight. My grandad visited daily and they offered to feed him and were always very kind and helpful. I would recommend to anyone who asks. Being a nurse you do get people asking about places we'd recommend. They deserve medals as I know first hand how my nan is and I struggle at times to look after her. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. Couldn't have wished for a better place for nan to stay.

My mother went to Ashleigh Manor Care Home from the hospital. She was only there for five days and had three falls, even though the home said she had carers with her. The care home said they could cater for my mother's needs when in fact they could not. They managed to paint my mother's nails but failed
to look after her. My mother is now in hospital very poorly and has a broken wrist and two broken ribs. If anyone is thinking of putting a relative into Ashleigh Manor Care Home I urge you to think twice.

Both my parents went to live at Ashleigh Manor in 2016. Both suffering from dementia. Mum and dad were made to feel at home. They were treated with love and respect. We, as a family, could not have wished for more. Sadly we lost mum 2-years ago. There was a huge effort made to help dad with his loss;
they had been together for 71-years.
Dad lived very happily for another 2-years in their care. He passed away last month at the age of 96. The end of life care he received was second to none. As a family, my sisters will always be grateful to Ashleigh Manor for treating mum and dad as their family. For also supporting us throughout mum and dad's time with them. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

Mum, aged 95, passed away peacefully at Ashleigh Manor, after being a resident for over 6 years. At all times she was treated with kindness and respect. We, the family, therefore have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

My father sadly passed away on the 8th December 2019, he had been a resident at Ashleigh Manor since March 2013. I found his care excellent and he was looked after extremely well, with food available as required during the day and night. I also feel that the assistance given to me has been excellent,
particularly during the last few weeks of my father's life, which were very stressful. I therefore have loads of praise for the staff at this care home.

My brother has been a resident at Ashleigh Manor Care Home for the last fourteen months, because of his dementia and health problems he can at times be very difficult and vocal. I have been present at such a time and I am totally impressed with how the staff take control and quickly calm him down, so
dedicated in their profession, cannot fault them in any area whatsoever, excellent.

My mum has been staying at Ashleigh Manor for 10 years now. She first stayed at Ashleigh Manor in March 2010 for respite following a stroke which left her with dementia. Mum would stay there for daycare and frequently stayed there for overnight stays to extended stays (2-3 weeks) whilst we were away.
In all that time, I have never had any worries or concerns. I have nothing but praise and respect for the management and staff there. My mum has many friends at Ashleigh Manor and loves the staff. For me as a son, it is very reassuring knowing my mum is happy, content and most importantly safe. I have never had any concerns with mum's treatment, never had any reason to complain, mum has been always treated with the utmost respect and dignity. In August 2019 I had a heartbreaking decision to make and that was to put mum into fulltime care but knowing how well mum is looked after and treated at Ashleigh Manor did make the decision easier. I have complete faith in Ashleigh Manor.

My wife attends the care home for daycare and respite breaks.
Respite can be 6/8 times annually.
This has been our pattern for the last 2 years.
I am delighted with the service offered and find the home/staff extremely caring and supportive.
Based on my own experience, I am more than happy to recommend
Ashleigh Manor.

In the last 6 months, the standard has dropped dramatically. There is neer the required amount of staff which we are told is 4 of 5. My mother is in the '2s' area, she is completely dependant on full care and has to be turned every 2 hrs. The food has been good up until a few weeks ago when 'salt regs'
state that additional gravy is not to be added. My mother needs extra moisture or else she chokes. Last Monday mums lunch could not be eaten, it was swimming in water and slop. Residents that are on a soft diet are served food from the previous day which is liquidised, frozen and microwaved. The shortage of staff is making it difficult to ascertain a standard of care. I feel sorry for the staff who are very caring and hardworking. Managers don't stay so there is no continuity.

All staff are very careful and understanding. I was very happy with the care given to my mother-in-law. Mum was very happy when we came to collect her, with no problems at all. She was well fed, clean and was reluctant to leave. I would use Ashleigh Manor again if respite was needed. I have used Ashleigh
Manor on a few occasions over the years, with other family members and would highly recommend.

I cannot praise the staff at Ashleigh Manor enough. Professional, articulate, kind and caring twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Nothing is too much of a problem. The manageress and her staff are a shining example of what care really means. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for looking
after Mum.

Current Review Score: 7.9 (7.942)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.9 (7.942) out of 10 for Ashleigh Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.259 for Ashleigh Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (36 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.259

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.683 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashleigh Manor Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.308

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
