Michaelstowe is an attractive period residence situated in the Ridgeway, at the heart of Plympton near the town of Plymouth.

There is a friendly and passionate team on hand 24 hours a day providing assistance with every everyday task required. Each individual has their own tailored care plan allowing for choice and flexibility.

Michaelstowe provides residential care and care for those living with dementia. The home offers both permanent placements and shorter term respite placements flexible to each individual and situation.

The home provides a warm, friendly and relaxed environment with spacious indoor communal areas, a garden, decking area and a conservatory. Bedrooms come fully furnished to a high standard inclusive of an en-suite with the option of bringing in personal furniture items and belongings.

Activities and events are a key part of the day at Michaelstowe ranging from larger group activities to smaller quieter arrangements, there is always something for everyone. The chef understands that mealtimes are important which is why there is a varied and nutritious menu to offer.

My overall review of the home is friendly staff who wear their own clothes so it doesn't look or feel so clinical. Always welcome by the staff. It's clean and safe for all the residents. My mum is now settled and happy there, she's eating more now than she ever has and all the food is freshly made.
I'd highly recommend the home to anyone.

Since my Auntie has moved into Michaelstowe, her care has been excellent. The staff have been brilliant with her. When she first went in there she would not get involved with what was going on. Now I have seen her dancing and singing and when she was ill the staff kept me informed of everything that
was going on. They are always on hand for me to talk to. Nothing is too much trouble for them and I am glad my Aunt is in such a good home.

Michaelstowe and all its staff have surpassed my expectation. The home has a happy 'family' atmosphere which enables the residents to feel relaxed and consequently, their families do too. My mother is treated with respect, patience and genuine care. She has formed close bonds with all the staff and
is as happy and content as she is ever going to be given the nature of her dementia. The daily entertainment, singalongs, quizzes, reminiscence and craft have made my mother feel alive again and are invaluable in keeping her spirits up. The food is wonderful and varied, nothing is too much trouble. As a family, we cannot recommend Michaelstowe highly enough and feel extremely lucky they had a vacancy when we were looking at care homes.

After a very worrying time with my mum. The staff really put my mind at rest. I know mum is safe and well cared for at this home. The staff are amazing and very approachable. They are fun to be around and the residents are very comfortable with them. I would definately recommend this care home. The
food is also very good here, all home cooked.

Having visited several care homes of varying degrees I have found Michaelstowe very homely. It does not look like a five-star hotel but has five-star care. My cousin entered this home looking very poorly but with the attention of all the staff, she is really well. Some of the boxes are marked good and
not excellent is because whenever I see her it is during the afternoon. Everyone is so welcoming and have met all her needs. If ever I have to go into a home I hope it is this one.

Michaelstowe was the best decision we made for our mother. Our only regret is that we hadn't known of it before. With the dedication and care of the staff, we feel our mother would still be walking and not bed bound as she is now. The staff are a proper team, working together and supporting each other,
especially when we had snow. Their love and kindness to the residents is genuine.

Michaelstowe has a lovely atmosphere about it, it's not too big that residents get lost, the staff are all very approachable and if I've had any issues they are dealt with fairly quickly.
One to one could be better at times as could activities but generally, it's fine.
My father is usually very happy
and smiles a lot which to me is all I need.
Some of the staff are excellent.

Michaelstowe Care Home has a fantastic Manager plus an equally fantastic experienced mature team of caring dedicated staff.
Team Michaelstowe go the extra mile they care for their residents and support relatives
Mum has advanced Altzimers and has recently been hospitalised


Our personal 7-year

Altzimers journey has been difficult we have felt totally isolated and have had to deal with some incomprehensible situations without support


Team Michaelstowe saved us I use the term US because joining this family restored our faith in how we expect our vulnerable loved ones to be cared for
On Mums return from hospital team, Michaelstowe gave nothing less than100% to her new care regime working both with myself and the community GP


Because of this fantastic team effort, my Mother is back to her happy self-enjoying her daily routine plus planned entertainment in the cosy homely sitting room and the recreational rooms in the company of other residents


I highly recommend Michaelstowe.
