Now I can say Wisteria House has changed our minds. We are so happy he is in their care. We visit twice a week and just love spending time with granddad/dad and the other residents. They are a joy to be around. So much so, we stay
The staff are so friendly, approachable, supportive, helpful and they are always happy!
We cannot fault Wisteria House in any way, shape or form.
A+ for these guys!

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.263) out of 10 for Wisteria House (Stoke) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.
The Average Rating of 4.979 for Wisteria House (Stoke) is calculated as follows: ( (47 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.979
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').
The 4.284 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wisteria House (Stoke) is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.4 = 0.909
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Carole has been involved with Wisteria House, Stoke for over 25 years and been joined by her daughter Lacey on the management team.
Carole and her team achieved the highest CQC of 'outstanding' in all areas.
Carole said ' I love the community spirit that revolves around the home, the way that each and every person who lives here is able and encouraged to treat Wisteria House as their own home. I strive to give a sense of belonging and well being with the freedom to live their life as they choose without having to feel restricted in anyway. If I personally chose to do my own thing in my own home then why shouldn't a person living with dementia?
Those who live at Wisteria House have the right to be respected and treated as individuals, with each one bringing a different quality and experience for others to share and enjoy, each one with their own story to tell.
Cheerful banter and a sense of humour help to encourage the people who live in the home form friendships and bonds with each other'

I have been in the care sector just about all my working life, initially in children's care before buying my first care home here at Stoke, Plymouth specialising in dementia care over 20 years ago.
The quality and number of the staff team makes the difference between a good care home and a bad one. Quality carpets and fine furniture will not reduce anxiety and stress and help a person live positively with dementia. The staff team and the welcoming atmosphere they create, the supportive and positive feelings each individual living in the home receives is crucial.
The staff interview process is taken very seriously, the management team look for naturals, people who take pleasure from creating a situation which enables a person to live positively with dementia, they have a big hart and show it in abundance!
Our staff team are mostly long standing, some have worked with me for over 20 years. We feel this a valuable asset to the home, living with dementia where staff teams change constantly must be terribly difficult when life is confusing enough.
