Since my beloved Aunt has moved in, I have been very happy with the care and love she has had. Although I am a worrier, I do know that I really don't need to, with the care she has had. She is as happy as she can be given she was a very independent and private person prior to reaching the amazing age
of 99.

The staff are very caring. There are plenty of them, so meals are readily taken to residents rooms.
Rooms are kept clean, as are all the public rooms of library, lounge and dining room. A record of visitors is kept and they are requested to use anti-bacterial hand gel. The front door is kept locked,
being opened by staff after use of the call buzzer. The residents appear happy there.

Having known family of a previous resident at Erith House. I was fortunate enough to be offered a very large room that would suit both my parents aged 93 & 94.
They have been residents since September 2016 and during that four months, they have been cared for in a way which can only be described as
exemplary. Both management and staff take the time to care which makes them content and safe. If they are happy we are happy which they are!!

I have been a resident at Erith House for a year and a half. I am very well looked after and the management is very aware of individual requests eg. meal times, meal choices and bed times. At times 'the rules' interfere with personal autonomy. The building (1850?) is spacious and elegant. My room is
large, sunny and bright and looks over the garden where I can take a walk.

My sister has been in Erith house since August 2015. During that time she has been looked after extremely well. The staff are very good and the management, in particular, has been extremely helpful in sorting out the one or two problems she has had. I am very satisfied that in view of her health problems
she could not be in a better place.

With complete sincerity, I can recommend Erith House from the bottom of my heart. I believe it to be the best residential home in Torquay and have heard many people voice the same opinion. Mummy was strongly recommended by a friend and, at the age of 90 and of her own free will, she chose to go there
for a trial period of 10 days. After only 2 days she said she was never going to leave as she felt so happy and safe there in every single way. And she did live there for 7 wonderful, happy, contented years until she passed peacefully away in 2015. In Mummy’s own words: ‘I feel very blessed in dear Erith House’.


Whenever and at whatever time one visits, one is always met with a friendly smile from the staff and a happy and safe atmosphere prevails in this expertly and humanely managed home.


All staff – whatever their function - are obviously chosen mostly carefully and with great discernment and they are exceptional in every way. They are a happy team and treat their residents with dignity, compassion, respect, efficiency, kindness and loving care - and they also have a wonderful sense of humour! I always had the feeling that they think of the residents as their extended family and care for them as they would wish their loved ones to be taken care of.


Any health issues are handled promptly and efficiently and I was always kept informed immediately.


The building is quite delightful: the rooms are graceful and spacious and the residents may install their own furniture. There is a cosy lounge and library, a very pleasant dining room and the beautiful garden where the residents are free to stroll is always kept immaculately.


I can only add in all sincerity that if and when the time should come when I have to enter a residential home, then Erith House is where I would wish to be.

I am very grateful for the level of individual care given to my mother. She suffers from advanced vascular dementia which makes communication difficult. Staff have gone to extra lengths to ensure that she remains stimulated and have shown particular individual attentiveness.


During my visits I have

found staff warm and supportive and the care home itself is well maintained and has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

This has to be one of the best care home in the area. The building is beautiful and spacious; the staff are genuinely caring and kind; the food is freshly prepared and very good. For residents who wish to take part, there are plenty of activities. My mother didn't want to lose her independence but since
settling in at Erith House, she has been very well cared for and is comfortable and contented.

My mother-in-law settled into Erith House with ease. She loves the food, always telling me how good it is. Also, the staff are very caring and friendly. When I visit, I am always made very welcome and am offered a tea or coffee. She is in the best place. Having looked at a few care homes, this is the

My mother has been resident since August 2015 after a preliminary stay in April 2015. She could not stop talking about Erith House on her return home and she made the decision to move as she recognised that she needed the help and support that Erith House offers. The staff are very kind without being
overpowering - understanding my mother's needs to control her life and maintain as much independence as possible. They are always welcoming when family visit, even our dog. Health care issues are always addressed promptly and the staff always keep me informed.

My mother has been a resident for 18 months as a result of a bad fall at home. She was fiercely independent until this happened and she broker her femur. After hospital and physio she arrived and Erith House which was highly recommended by a friend of the family. We were all made very welcome as soon
as we arrived (as we always are!) and mum realised she couldn't manage on her own anymore. She says she's very well looked after and the staff are extremely caring and thoughtful and encourage residents to come out of their rooms.

When we first lefty mum at Erith House we were a bit worried about how she would be, even though we liked the look of the place and the staff we met, but it didn't take too long for mum to settle in and say that all the staff were very nice and helpful. We also go to know most of the staff who treat
us as friends, which is very nice. Mum has now been there for about 18 months. We are quite happy to leave her there and do not worry that she is not looked after well and the staff always get in touch with us if we are ever needed or need to know anything.

Erith House has been my mother's home for nearly 10 years. She has received the best of care and support during this period. Staff have treated her with consideration and tried hard to help her to maintain her mobility independence. As she has become more frail they have adjusted her care to meet her
needs. Management and staff are always available to talk to and contact me whenever Mum's condition changes. I am a regular visitor to the home and feel welcomed at all times. The home is maintained well and standards of cleanliness are excellent.

Joined: 2023

Robert has 37 years' experience in the Catering Industry. He spent 11 years as 3rd Chef at the Belgrave Hotel, and Head Chef at Torbay Hospital for 26 years, before joining Erith House. Robert has received an Immediate Hygiene Certificate and a qualification of Special Diets. He is also an NVQ Assessor. In his spare time, Robert paints and collects Wargame and Warhammer figures. He enjoys visiting different places, and spending time with his two dogs.

Tracey Leonard

Job Title: Team Leader

Tracey started working in the care sector at the age of 17, knowing then that this would be her career path for life. In 2008 Tracey completed her NVQ Level 2 and 3 Qualifications, plus a Care Certificate. Tracey joined Erith House in 2022, as a Care Assistant, before being promoted to Team Leader. Tracey thrives off the feeling of being part of a family at Erith, and watching it go from strength to strength. Tracey's hobbies include looking after her grandchildren, exercising on her Peloton bike and relaxing by watching a good Netflix movie.

Donna has worked in a care environment for most of her life, including as a teacher within special educational and behavioural schools, and care homes. Donna started working at Erith House covering house keeping during the Pandemic and has worked her way up, from Carer, to Senior Carer, Team Leader and now Head of Care. She also covers in the kitchen as a cook. Since working at Erith House, Donna has completed a Care Certificate, Level 3 Diploma and is working on a Level 5 Diploma. In her spare time, Donna enjoys spending time with family and friends. She enjoys meals out and watching a good crime documentary or film.
