The standards of this home are truly impressive in every way. There has been a lot of work to refurbish/improve. The staff are so helpful kind and patient and ensure visitors and residents have everything they need. The cook and the decorator are an integral part of the team as well. The manager/owner?
Not only runs a fantastic team but is just as good as the team. Amazing experience today thank you

My mum has been at Lorna House for 20 months. I'm very happy with the care she receives which gives me complete piece of mind knowing she's been well looked after.
I feel the staff goes above and beyond to see to the resident's needs.
I would highly recommend this care home.

I visited several times during my holiday and was always greeted with a smile from the staff. Generally, I feel my cousin has settled in well. Whilst there, an event was made extra special. My cousin received cold food one day but this has already been addressed by her husband, so hopefully now resolved.

Reply from Issac Theophilos, Director at Lorna House

Dear Pauline, thank you very much for the review. You visited us four times in total while you were on holiday. We hosted and organised a massive family reunion event for your cousin, and all your family members very much appreciated the event. The manager and chef addressed feedback on food straight away. We have made a lot of effort to support your cousin, and happy that she is settled with us now. Hoping to see you soon on your next visit.

My mum had a 4-week stay at Lorna House straight from hospital.
Everyone at Lorna House was very caring, friendly and kept me updated with any information about Mum. I was able to go and visit at any time and was able on two occasions to take our dog in which cheered my mum no end.
I must say again
that all the staff were wonderful, I can't praise them enough.
They're all a credit to Lorna House.
All I can say is a huge thank you from mum, myself and my family.

My brother moved to Lorna House in October 2023 after leaving the hospital following a stroke. This was intended to be a relatively short-term placement, but it took longer than we expected for us to be able to complete a purchase of new sheltered accommodation for him. In the event, he stayed until
March. The facilities at Lorna House were excellent and the staff were always so helpful and friendly. We were particularly impressed by the range of activities that were provided during his time there. Our grateful thanks to everyone at Lorna House.

My father is receiving excellent care in every way. He moved in permanently at the beginning of 2019 and the staff have been key to him settling in. The move from independent living to care is a difficult step for both residents and their families and the welcome received from Lorna House has made this
step easier.

My mum went into Lorna Home three years ago. It was obviously a difficult decision for my sisters and brother to make, but we need not have worried. Our first impression of Lorna was the lovely clean smell as soon as you went in the front door! The staff are so friendly, caring and are very informative
in letting you know the progress of Mum. The manager is always available to talk to. We are very happy and standards have never dropped. Thank you.

I chose Lorna House care home for my Mother as it provided the best transition from home care by myself to the inevitable 24 hour dare needed from professionals. Lorna House has a warm and friendly atmosphere with excellent caring staff.

My husband has been in this care home for two and a half years, he has settled and happy here. I can see he is well looked after and the staff look after me as well when I visit him. His son and daughter are also, very pleased with all the tender loving care he gets.

Mum has not been at Lorna House for too long but from what I have observed the care home is very clean and the residents seem very comfortable and happy.
All the staff and management are really friendly and always available to answer any queries we might have.
Lorna House is decorated very brightly
and very cheerily and Mum's bedroom is light and airy with a nice view.
Entertainment, sing along and craft happens quite often which she enjoys.

We found that Lorna House and its staff provided everything we could ask for and my mum loves it. She been here since November 2017 and loves it. The staff are so kind and friendly and nothing seems to be a problem.
Couldn't wish for better care anywhere.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.375)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.375) out of 10 for Lorna House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.675 for Lorna House is calculated as follows: ( (58 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 80 Ratings = 4.675

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lorna House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
