Buxton House is a warm and welcoming residential and dementia care home in Weymouth, Dorset. With a light and airy atmosphere, the home allows residents to live their lives as if in the comfort of their own homes whilst being cared for by committed, professionally trained staff.

Buxton House has 64 ensuite single bedrooms, divided into four wings to create a homely feel. Each wing has its own spacious lounge/diner and kitchen area.

Buxton House provides compassionate care for those who can longer live independently and also offers intermediate care for people requiring a short period of rehabilitation.

All residents can enjoy a wide variety of activities and entertainment in and around the home, plus outings in the Care South minibus to local landmarks and attractions.

My sister seems very happy and well looked after, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. I am happy to think that my sister is able to remain in such a good environment, which enables her to have help with her anorexia.

I am happy with all aspects of the care given to my great aunt at Buxton House. The staff are always friendly, polite and considerate when caring for the residents of the home. The activities staff are always doing things to interest and involve the residents.

Mum has been at Buxton House for over a year now and during that time the staff have been very caring and understanding. The home is always clean and tidy. Mum really enjoys the various entertainment programmes that are laid on, especially the sing-songs. She eats well most of the time and the staff
ensure that where appropriate she has plenty of gravy with her meals as well as ice-cream!

Excellent care of my father. He seems to have settled in well and has begun to familiarise himself with his room, the layout and the daily routine. He always appears to be well looked after whenever I visit him.

Very good care provided and always helpful. Very friendly staff.
Home is always clean and tidy. Rooms kept clean.
Only issue is it sometimes takes a while to be let in.
Good communication kept between home and relatives.

My husband has told me staff were really nice and friendly. Food was okay in the main but my husband has been off his food but he said the puddings were lovely, I thought he would say that as he has a very sweet tooth.
Very clean and well-kept home.

Our dad was at Buxton House Care Home for about seven years. his care was good and his room was comfortable with an ensuite shower/toilet etc. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The care home has improved much more since the new manager is now running it. She has helped the residents become
more active, being helpful and made us welcome.

The care my mom is receiving is good and the activities provided are a real strength to the provision in Buxton House. Staff are approachable and helpful. Management are approachable and do what they can to address any concerns that may arise regarding my mum. Regular staff are obviously working very
hard to sustain the level of care for residents. There is a welcoming feel on entry to the home and an open-access policy.

I was very happy with my father's stay. I could see when I collected him that he was as happy as I left him. Enjoying the Christmas festivities put on by the staff which I joined in and enjoyed. I would have no hesitation to take him again. Thank you very much all round.

1st class care home. All the staff who work there go above and beyond attending to the care of residents in every way and they also take an interest and care to the resident's family, can’t praise them enough. Massive improvement and asset to the home since the appointment of the new manager in September.

We sadly lost our precious mum yesterday and the care, compassion and support we received from the Buxton House staff during this difficult time was incredible. We will never be able thank them enough.
Her time there during the pandemic was made easier for all of us due to the outstanding love they

Buxton House has been home to my mum for the last three years. This week we were told she was end of life. The staff of Buxton House welcomed my sister and I to stay with my mum overnight. Took care of her with the most compassion, care and love I have ever seen. My mum passed away yesterday, we have
been spoken to by all members of staff who looked after her, who have passed on their condolences and spoken with us individually. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. You're all fantastic and we are incredibly grateful to you, always.

“I have worked in the Health and Social Care sector since I was old enough to be employed; whilst continuing to study, develop and achieve the skills and qualifications I have.


I began my career working with Care South as a Care Assistant and progressed to my present role as Home Manager of Buxton House. I initially began my journey at Buxton House and worked across the company in different locations – I am so glad to be back!


Ensuring every day is meaningful for the people we care for is what drives me and the team at Buxton House to give the best possible service.


We aim to support our residents and be involved in the care we provide; to enhance their independence in confidence, knowing we can support them with our person-centred approach.
