Fairfield House is situated on a hillside overlooking Lyme Bay and Lyme Regis. The home is tastefully decorated and furnished throughout and offers several lounges, dining areas and conservatories to socialise or relax in. The home has its own fully equipped hairdressing salon, and a selection of specialist bathrooms including a hydrotherapy bath.

Fairfield House provides mild dementia care as well as residential care. The home also offers respite stays and day care packages in a comfortable, caring, relaxed environment. Staff like all their residents to feel at home, to be as independent as possible and supported to make their own choices. Person-centred care is based on each person's specific needs.

Care workers put residents at the heart of everything they do. Residents can take part in a wide range of activities, sit back and enjoy the entertainment programme or just relax in beautiful gardens taking in the sea air. When dining, you can choose from a seasonal menu of excellent home cooked food.

Level of care is excellent.
Facility is spotless and food is great.
'Tea on the Terrace' is a great compromise, especially the tea and cake.
Mum loves it there!
One area of improvement could be for the lines of (email) communication to family, especially those that live away like ourselves. Things
only seem to get done if the reception and admin lady is around. Conversely, if she's not there, there seems to be a vacuum.
We realise things are stretched currently, but please could the seniors/key workers update us on key events/medical visits?

My grandad has been in Fairfield House for over a year now. It was such a hard decision to place him into a residential care home. We always want the best for our loved ones. We had a look around a few care homes before we made a decision. 100% Fairfield was by far the best that suited my grandad. Stunning
views over Lyme Regis and the sea. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are kept so clean and tidy. At the moment due to Covid I haven’t been seeing my grandad as much but Fairfield definitely have safety first when I do see him, they have all the correct safety measures in place to keep both us and the residents safe. 100% recommended Fairfield to anyone.

I have recommended Fairfield to friends and health professionals. The overwhelming feeling we have had from the home is of calm and sensitive care. My mother has had exemplary health and social support from a truly kind, interested and warm-hearted group of staff throughout. She benefitted from terrifically
good food, a beautiful room with a view and new friends.

Staff at Fairfield House are warm and welcoming. They care for the residents as if for their own relatives. When visiting you are always offered drinks and snacks. The location is very nice with a sea view and is close to Lyme center. Parking is a little tight. Regular checks by staff and district nurses
mean residents are well taken care of, and their individual requirements are catered to and documented. A very pleasant atmosphere and nice facility that gives a sense of trust that your loved one is being looked after.

My stay at the nursing home was very comfortable and enjoyable. This was due to the care of the staff and management who made me feel very welcome. Also, the choice of activities was very varied and entertaining. It felt like I was on holiday.

The culture of Fairfield is very friendly, caring and gentle. The staff have busy schedules but always seem to find time to spend sitting with residents and keeping them company where possible. Mealtimes seem to be very prompt and the food is good.

The standard of care at Fairfield House is outstanding. My Father has lived there for several years now and at all times the care has been of the highest level. His room is kept immaculately. The food is genuinely home-cooked and has a wide variety of dishes and the staff do everything they can to
ensure his welfare. As a relative, I am always given a warm welcome and they frequently review his care with me. Every day there are activities in the lounge with outside performers coming in to entertain the residents as well as in house activities. In the summer they go outside to enjoy the views across Lyme Bay. I cannot fault the care that my Father receives, he is very happy and it is a great relief to me to know that he is receiving such outstanding care from staff who genuinely care.

Fairfield House have been wonderful in the care of my parents. Their care has been tailored to the individual needs and character of each person. That was so important to my Dad. Although his body was weakened by Parkinson's, his mind was still alert and active. Mum, on the other hand, is physically
a lot better, but dementia has affected her ability to understand her environment and daily living tasks. Unfortunately, Dad's health went downhill and he was assessed at end of life care. The team at Fairfield seamlessly transitioned and gave Dad all the care and reassurance he needed. His quiet, dignified passing speaks volumes about their care and professionalism. If Dad had been at all troubled about what was happening to him or worried about Mum, he would not have slipped away so peacefully.


Following Dad's death, the staff at Fairfield looked after the whole family. I didn't feel like I was dealing with a company when I spoke to them, I was dealing with friends.

Fairfield House is a light, airy beautifully maintained home in a fabulous location overlooking Lyme and the Ocean. My mother stayed there for one week of respite care. Her room was spotless with an amazing view. The staff without exception could not do enough for her. I visited daily and I also was
always given a warm welcome. I believe Fairfield House is an exceptional home and I can't recommend it highly enough.

The care provided by Fairfield is good. The staff are kind, helpful and caring. The food is excellent and the facilities are good. I am particularly impressed with the low turn over of staff, allowing residents to get to know them, and the fact that only rarely are agency staff required.


The area

in which I think there could be an improvement is when it comes to encouraging dementia patients to engage with stimulating activities. I find the staff to be a little passive in this regard - they are almost too nice and do not want to upset the residents - and the number of people employed to engage residents in activities that are suitable, relevant and interesting to meet specific needs appears to be low and, as a consequence, most are large group activities which do not suit all residents.

My mother assessed various care homes as her friends went into them over the last 20 years.
I think she made the right choice.
I have been particularly impressed by their response in appropriately stepping up provisions as my mum has gone through downturns.
There are a lot of very able, intelligent
and caring staff.
My mother spontaneously comments on this.
It gives me a lot of peace of mind at this stage in her journey.

My mother was a full time resident at Fairfield House for 15 months until she passed away recently. Throughout her time there, she received kind and compassionate care from all the staff, without exception. I was a regular visitor 2 - 3 times a week and noted that as her care needs increased due to
the progress of dementia the staff adapted well and kept her as happy and comfortable as possible. Her last week was particularly challenging but the staff continued to adapt their care and worked well with the local GP's to enable her to stay at the home as long as possible. After several years of living in her own home with only occasional care visits and limited social contact, I can honestly say that her days at Fairfield with constant company, kindness and stimulation were mostly very happy ones, in spite of her failing health. I will miss our walks around the garden and sitting on the bench in the sunshine looking out over Lyme Regis and the sea. I think the staff will miss her too.

My mum was only at Fairfield for a few weeks but in that time received nothing but exemplary care from all staff.
They offered a completely dignified and amazing service in a tough industry and couldn't have done more for any of us as a family unit.

The one issue I have with Fairfield is the interaction with the residents. The only stimulation they have is when entertainment is brought in. Residents are left for long periods doing nothing while activity staff just wander around. Very rarely have I been in and seen staff interacting with the residents.
