My sister was suffering from dementia while she was staying at the Hyde, she had a series of strokes the last one making her bed-bound, from which she died. The care that your staff gave her was excellent. They were compassionate, caring and very kind. They are a credit to one and all.

A pre-arranged visit to see my mother, who I have been unable to see since last summer. I had the lateral Covid test at 11 am and then saw my mother at 11.30 for the designated 30 mins. Perfect orchestration from the team. A big thank you.

During lockdown, the staff have been helping us keep in touch with family and friends in the Hyde using Zooms, photographs and updates. The residents are treated with great kindness and care. The staff at the Hyde put care at the forefront.

My lovely Mum has been a resident of the Hyde for the past three and a half years. I cannot praise them highly enough. Mum was welcomed like family and was cherished just as if she had been the granddaughter of the staff. Mum was very fond of her care worker who she called her best friend and I as a
visitor was also treated like family. Everyone from the gardener to the maintenance man to the housekeeping staff, the kitchen staff, the care team and the office folk, were all without fail kind and courteous and helpful. Mum had a wonderful sense of humour and at the Hyde this was warmly welcomed and I loved to hear Mum laughing with staff and residents alike. The pets at the home and the chickens made it feel like a home from home and the wonderful country views and fabulous gardens were always a joy. Perfect for my lovely Mum, who was very happy there and now that Mum has passed away, I hope to maintain a link with my friends there and want them to know how grateful I am.

The Hyde is a wonderful and caring home for the elderly. It is in the most beautiful setting and all the staff and carers are so kind and thoughtful. My mother has been a resident here for nearly two years during which time she has had a few major health scares which have been dealt with brilliantly
by all concerned. I can’t think of anywhere else I would want her to be for the rest of her life.

I don't get to visit as much as I'd like to whenever I do, it's an amazing, caring, friendly and beautiful home. My friend is very very happy and does more now that she ever did at home. The activities and the love shown to residents is fantastic.
Family and friends are welcomed for tea and meals.

A most agreable home. The carers are more than adequate in their duties. They maintain a companionship in carying out a task that covers all aspects of care. Pleasant and efficient. All measure are taken to maintain an agreable atmosphere. Highly recommended.

The staff are all lovely and they make my Dad's stay enjoyable. The meals could be slightly bigger, not all elderly have a small appetite! The rooms are nice and big with a good size wetroom en-suite.

I spent two weeks at The Hyde for post-op recovery. It was an ideal choice. The situation of the house, its grounds and facilities were all that could be desired making me feel a welcome guest.
The staff were attentive and friendly, even in the small hours. Food was appetising and of sufficient to
satisfy someone in recovery.

I visit one of the residents each week whose family live some way off and who does not like socialising. Staf always welcoming and a very relaxed atmosphere. A super setting in its park, but no sign of more trees being planted. Does The Hyde own the park, if not, liaise with the owner.

Introducing Rebecca Dawe
Home Manager at The Hyde, Bridport


What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Empathy, dignity and wellbeing.”


As a dedicated healthcare professional, Rebecca has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Rebecca closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She decided to work in the care sector because, as a young child, she helped her grandmother care for children with learning difficulties; this gave her a passion to improve the lives of others.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Rebecca remarked:


“Working in an amazing team who are dedicated in providing the highest levels of care.”


Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family, including her sons, and she also enjoys travelling. She counts herself very lucky that she was able to go traveling to East Africa and worked in two orphanages and a maternity hospital.
