Kingsley Court Residential Home is a detached residence of character, providing spacious accommodation for eighteen residents, and is situated on the Dorchester Road in Weymouth. The home has ample car parking on the forecourt and at the rear they have an attractive ‘sun trap’ garden for the residents use.

The Home is close to the Post Office and shops at Lodmoor, and Greenhill Gardens which overlook the sea are only a few minutes walk away. A Church of England and Catholic Church are close by.

They uphold the following key principles, namely Privacy, Dignity, Independence, Choice, Rights and Fulfilment, and seek to uphold the Code of Conduct of the General Social Care Council, a copy of which is available on request.

The aim is to provide a loving and comfortable home environment for people who feel unable or do not wish to live on their own any longer. They encourage their resident’s independence, but link this with responsible help whether it is in the form of advice, counselling or personal care to the degree required by each resident by day and by night.

My mother dreaded going into a home but was medically unfit to stay at home. The home she is in cannot be faulted. I looked at seven others and this one appealed immediately. I have visited over the last two years at all times of day and there has never been one thing wrong. It is kept clean, no smell,
food excellent and all the staff and management are kind, cheery and efficient. I would be more than happy if I eventually end up there. I recommend it most highly. I also have very high standards.

The staff are extremely caring and supportive, nothing is too much trouble. The management ethos of putting the residents and staff at the heart of everything they do is reflected throughout the care they provide. A warm and hospitable welcome to all visitors further endorses confidence in the home.
This
has all helped my mother to settle in during a very difficult time with the challenges that giving up her independence and home entails and we as a family, have confidence in the care that she is being given.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.250)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.250) out of 10 for Kingsley Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.875 for Kingsley Court is calculated as follows: ( (42 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.875

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.375 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kingsley Court is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 19 registered maximum number of service users is 3.8, which has been reached with 4 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

My job involves ensuring that residents' care plans are up to date, to make sure that they get the correct care. I liaise with other healthcare professionals, family and friends of residents.

I get to spend time with the people who live here, and learn their life history and also that of their families as they play a big role in the care of each person here.

Qualifications -

I have done lots of training over the years, NVQ qualifications, and in-house mandatory training with needs regular updating, my last achieved qualification outside of in-house mandatory training was a Level 5 diploma in leadership for health and social care.

What do you enjoy most about working at Friary Care? -

I enjoy meeting people and hearing their history and trying to make the days better for them by spending time and chatting with them, they are all individuals with different stories to tell. They learn as much about us as we do them when we sit and chat.

I enjoy having the freedom in my workday to stop and spend time with the people who live there, whether that be in the house or going out for coffee with them.
