Kingland House Residential Home is located a short distance from Poole Park in Dorset.

The park has a large lake with wildlife, swans geese and a miniature railway and boating facilities and is a five-minute walk from the local town centre and a short drive from Sandbanks beach, quay and old town.

The home has multiple lounge areas, one for activities and one for relaxing in quiet. The grounds feature landscaped gardens which residents can enjoy and admire from the home's dining room conservatory or in person during the warmer months.

Residents at the home can enjoy freshly prepared meals on a daily basis, with special dietary requirements being catered for.

Residents at the home are encouraged to bring personal items to make themselves feel at home as they settle into their new surroundings, while the home has a team of activities co-ordinators who provide a range of inspiring activities for residents to participate in and socialise, including a regular quiz and exercising to music.

Kingland House Residential Home hosts entertainers and organises regular outings and school visits.

My sister, I and social services spent months trying to find a care home for our mum, who had advanced dementia. We spoke with many care homes, some charging over £1,500 pw and who were encouraging in their sales pitches, but once they had viewed mum's care needs assessment declined to offer a place.
My sister and I both liked the homely feel of Kingland House and its beautiful location. It had an air of being both calm and busy; life just going on.
Kingland House's new manager took the time to understand mum's needs and assure us that they would be able to meet them. Mum moved in on January 2019 and was warmly welcomed. My sister and I visited twice per week and were always kept up-to-date on mum's condition. Our experience of the team at Kingland House was that it was led and staffed by people who genuinely cared for the residents. This was acutely demonstrated when our mum went into terminal decline. Their support for us and mum at this time was exceptional.

Since moving my Uncle from another local care home I have seen an improvement in his wellbeing and overall happiness. Whenever we visit the staff are always polite and seem happy in their environment.

This was our first experience of respite care and having been let down by another home, Kingland welcomed us with open arms. All the staff we came into contact with were marvellous and really looked after my husband, often staying to chat. There was a lot of laughter which was so important. We can
only say thank you for being so fab. We will return!

In the 3 years my dad has been in Kingland House he has always been treated with the utmost respect and the care he receives is impeccable. Everyone, even the cook, cares about his welfare. He is always treated with dignity and is very happy there. The activities are varied and interesting including
excellent outings for the residents. The staff are extremely caring going above and beyond their duties when needed and are always ready to offer any support or reassurance to relatives if needed. I really can't fault the care my dad receives and all the kindness he has from all the staff.

Mum is very happy here. She is quite independent and staff are very understanding and allow her the freedom to go out and about as she pleases whilst keeping a watchful eye. The staff are great, cheerful and caring.
I just wish there was not so much paperwork. Mum complains that the staff are always
writing and recording and don't have the time to chat. This isn't their fault obviously.

My father was a resident in the home for 2 short stays. He felt at home and comfortable well supported by the staff to get the most out of his life. The family felt the staff were attentive and friendly at all times. We thought there was a very good atmosphere in the place, the management was very organised,
the staff were attentive but also encouraged everybody to do as much as they were able for themselves.

My cousin, who was totally immobile, was provided with a light airy room with pleasant outdoor views. All staff including those in reception knew her name and her likes and dislikes. She was treated with great respect and every attempt was made to ensure that she was comfortable. The food was very
well presented with the additional provision of mid-morning and afternoon snacks, and supper.
Although my cousin was not robust enough to visit the communal rooms every effort was made to ensure that she had an opportunity to chat. A variety of staff took time to visit her room to engage her in general conversation. The nursing was excellent and there was always a genuine concern for her comfort and well-being. At key moments in her stay I was always well briefed on the situation. In conclusion I was always confident that my cousin was receiving the best of care and attention and I have nothing but praise for the home.

Job Title: Registered Manager

Tracy, who is originally from London but has lived in Dorset since 1977, has worked in care on a personal and professional level for 33 years.
Tracy is passionate about maintaining high standards in the care environment. This passion focuses her to lead the team alongside Maria at Kingland House. As the previous Head of Care at Kingland, Tracy has learnt new qualities and skills that she can use in her role as Deputy Manager.
