The Laurels and Pine Lodge in Poole is a delightful character residence with a cosy, homely atmosphere. Originally known in the local area as ‘Stone Farm’, the cottages have been respectfully extended and lovingly restored to provide a safe, appealing and comfortable home. They can confidently say that The Laurels and Pine Lodge is one of the most warm-hearted residential care homes in Poole.

The fully trained, compassionate and caring team has created an exceptional residential care home where they ensure residents are not only safe and well cared for, but are also happy and content.

The Laurels and Pine Lodge is well presented with secluded, easy access gardens and a spacious front-facing patio, where residents can enjoy get-togethers or simply watch the world go by. Comprising 54 en-suite bedrooms, 32 of which are situated in The Laurels, with a further 22 in Pine Lodge (their specialist dementia care unit), each bedroom is beautifully decorated, fully furnished and equipped with a flat-screen digital TV, telephone point and a 24-hour call bell. In addition, they offer ample communal spaces so residents are free to enjoy both companionship and privacy.

The home also benefits from two conservatories, a dining room to enjoy the all inclusive homemade meals, access to video calling to stay in touch with friends and family and a fully inclusive laundry service.

My mother spent four weeks at The Laurels. She loved it there, the staff were warm, caring, professional and became her extended family. I can't speak highly enough of everyone connected with this fantastic care home. I wish my mother could have had longer to enjoy all that was on offer. I won't forget
the care and love my mother received at this wonderful home.

The staff showed care, respect and concern for my aunt's well-being at all times. Although there were very serious problems with Covid 19, as in all sectors of healthcare, The Laurels continued to try as hard as they could to maintain communications between residents and relatives "on the outside" by
phone and by means of the home's Facebook page. Thank you to every member of the staff!

The home is very welcoming when I visit. The Laurels is very homely and has a strong family feel. I am happy with the care my mum receives.

My nan is a resident at The Laurels and she is thriving here. I have never seen her so happy and content. She gets involved in most activities and she has a sense of real purpose again. The staff here really care, and my nan has a wonderful bond with them. She really seems to be genuinely happy to be

After reading previous good reviews, my mother-in-law was a resident at The Laurels for 6 weeks and we moved her as soon as we were able to. Whilst these comments do not apply to all staff, we observed that residents were not treated with dignity or respect. This is meant to be a specialist dementia
home. I would suggest that some retraining is needed. Standards of cleanliness were poor. Also, cake was handed by hand into the resident's hands, with no plate, and no hygiene. My mother-in-law needed assistance with eating and drinking. From our observations, this did not happen. Staff stood around flicking through their mobile phones. From our experience, I really would not recommend The Laurels.

To clarify, our team use special hand-held devices resembling mobile phones which allow them to record their interactions with residents and make notes during the day. Thank you for pointing out how this appears. We will be mindful in future to explain to other visitors what they are and how they are used. We were very pleased with the progress your loved one had made while she was in our care. Our managers would have been more than happy to discuss any of the issues you raise here while she was with us so our dedicated, hard-working team could have dealt with them as a matter of urgency.

My Mum was a resident, initially at The Laurels, before moving into Pine Lodge as her dementia advanced. She was a resident there for many years. For me, the level of humanity and compassion within a home is by far the most important feature. The Laurels and Pine Lodge demonstrate this in abundance.
The staff are incredibly loving and committed people for whom the work is evidently a vocation and not just a job. As a relative of a resident, it was so comforting to know that Mum was constantly surrounded by people who genuinely cared, with her welfare and happiness at the forefront of their minds. I never ceased to be amazed by the pure kindness displayed by the staff. There are homes that may be superficially more shiny and new but, if like me, you believe it's the level of care that really counts, I can't recommend The Laurels and Pine Lodge enough.

Although my auntie was only at the Care Home for a very short period of time, the staff showed understanding and patience with my auntie's needs. The care and compassion shown by all staff was excellent. I would recommend highly The Laurels and Pine Lodge.

I have been visiting the care home of Oakdale, The Pine Lodge and what I have to deal with. Two care workers are very rude and make up lies about me. I have phoned the manager in charge and it is no better when I visit once a week and telephone every day. There is nowhere to wait in bad weather. I am
in need of warmth which I haven't got.

Pine Lodge has provided a reassuring final home for my mother-in-law during the last years of her life. It is a difficult decision to move an elderly relative from their home of many years. In our case, it was a necessity due to her advancing dementia. We were comforted by the care and consideration
shown to her always, particularly knowing how tough it was for staff recently, with the pandemic. Everyone has been wonderful and this meant a lot to us given that we live some distance away from Poole. Being able to check in via Skype provided a regular opportunity to know she was safe and well. Our sincere thanks to the guardian angels at Pine Lodge.

I knew about The Laurels when I was a little girl, always heard good things about it. So when I was older and became a private carer; and my ladies could no longer cope at home, The Laurels was the first home I thought of. The staff are wonderful, helpful, friendly, and problems are sorted out promptly.
Both my ladies are very happy there, and I visit regularly when Covid permits.

My husband came to stay with you 11/11.2020. For me, this has been a very setting time. I am finding it very difficult to come to terms with it but saying this, the only good thing that has come out of it is finding you, as my brother-in-law knew someone who was looked after there said how caring they
were, which is so true. I can't thank the staff enough for helping me and looking after him; they give me so much support, which is ongoing. They are just wonderful to him. As they say, this is the only good thing which has come out of this, this is more than a good home, they even sent me valentines cared from him, I just cried. They just go the extra mile, can't wait to cuddle him soon. My thanks to you all.

As Home Manager at The Laurels and Pine Lodge Residential Home, I am proud of the journey I have taken, and I feel deeply privileged to work with such a dedicated team and wonderful residents.


I began my career here as a carer and over the years, through determination and a passion for the care industry, I was fortunate enough to progress through the roles from Senior Carer all the way to Home Manager.


I love what I do and feel privileged to make a difference in our residents' lives. Person-centred care is central to my approach, ensuring every resident is treated with respect, compassion, and dignity. It's not just about providing care; it's about building meaningful relationships and ensuring that each resident feels like a valued part of our family here at The Laurels and Pine Lodge.


I am grateful for the opportunity to lead a team of dedicated professionals and to continue providing the highest standard of care for our residents. Every day is a chance to learn, grow, and make a positive impact, which makes this job so special to me.
