Faithfull House is an elegant Grade II Regency building which has been subtly adapted into a stunning residential home. It is situated on Suffolk Square, with shops and amenities on its doorstep with Cheltenham town centre in easy reach.

Faithfull House can offer people a little day to day support amidst their full and independent lives, right the way through to full residential care (with specialist knowledge of dementia and end of life care).

The beautifully proportioned dining room and lounges are at the heart of the home. The two smaller lounges, library and conservatory mean there is always a quiet place to be found. The accessible private garden are full of interest throughout the year and includes a summerhouse and seating areas.

All the bedrooms are en suite and there are also five apartments as well as rooms for respite care.

The care team includes dementia specialists, a physiotherapist and a qualified nurse (who works closely with the GP surgeries and district nurses).

The Bluebell Suite offers extra care to those with a higher level of needs, such as those living with dementia. This self-contained suite has its own lounge, dining rooms, garden room and accommodation with beautiful views over Suffolk Square. This calm and tranquil setting offers familiarity and continuity which gives extra reassurance and comfort to its residents.

The catering team provide fresh, nutritious home cooked food and are skilled at adapting the menu for different dietary requirements and those with swallowing difficulties.

The activities team work both individually and in groups to offer varied, stimulating and enriching activities including visiting musicians and entertainers, arts & crafts, gardening, games, gentle exercise and trips out.

I find the home to be caring and a very pleasant environment to visit.
I like the friendliness of the staff and find them helpful.
My mother has a room with much of her own furniture and things which help to make it feel like home.
This is important to her and her family.
The food is good.
In recent
months the amount of activities and quality of activities has improved tremendously and I am pleased to report a lively and changing programme.
There are also things to involve families from time to time.
I love the fact that staff do not wear uniforms as I know they would have a very negative impact on people like my Mum but could they perhaps wear a badge to identify them as my Mum doesn't know who's who?

My husband has been a resident at the above home for one year. Most of the staff have been with Faithful House for a long time.
I have found them well trained caring and observant. Communication is very good. Accommodation is changed as needs change. The food is varied and imaginative bearing in mind
this is an old listed building facilities are good.

First contact with the home was on the phone. The response to my difficult and immediate situation was warm, positive, informed and helpful. From the outset, it was clear that my mother and myself were being treated with compassion and professional expertise. A few months later and this is still the
case. My mother has not been as well and happy in years.

The care for my mother-in-law is absolutely excellent. Even with changes in staff, she is known and treated very well. Sometimes my mother-in-law is a bit short (particularly about food) but the staff remain pleasant as well as more than doing their duty.
One thing my wife and I are not fond of; waiting
for access to the inner opening door. Is it possible to be a key holder?
We have nothing but praise for Faithfull House and its staff.

My mother and father have been living in Faithfull House for the past few years and I much appreciate the fact that they can both be cared for there, although they have different needs. My mother has dementia and cannot walk unaided and my father is frail with poor sight and hearing and other problems
associated with old age. They are devoted and spend their days together.
The beautiful building with its spacious dining room leading into the gardens gives the feeling they are in a pleasant environment.
On their wedding anniversary last week the F.H. Team provided a lovely tea party in the conservatory for some of their friends and family. It was a memorable occasion and very heartening. The staff are key and I am grateful for the support and care given to me as well as my parents.

My mum, 90 years old and suffering from Double Parallel Dementia has been a resident for 2 years now. We as a family could not wish for more from the care and attention that she has received from the staff. So patient and understanding. The facilities are so well kept and cleanliness is apparent at
all times in both residents own rooms and with the public areas. Staff ensure that all residents are clean, up and out of bed. And meal times ensure that they are well fed.

Overall, I am very happy with the care my mother receives. She always looks clean and well cared for. The staff are polite and often say "hello" to her when passing. My only small gripe, is that weekend staff appear to be less plentiful, so there is not the same consistency as weekdays.

My mother is very content in Faithfull House where she has been a resident for two and a half years. Her room is the highlight as it has lovely views across Suffolk Square. We, as a family, feel that she is well looked after by caring staff and is safe in their hands.

I have been very happy here for nearly 12 years having arrived on 1st March 2005. I have been very well treated and cared for in sickness and in health. I have been given a great deal of privacy and independence. I am secure in the knowledge that if necessary I will get immediate help and hospital treatment.
There are plenty of people for companionship and a good choice of friends. I know that if anything happens to me the management would immediately get in touch with my family and next of kin.

Mum has been resident at Faithfull House for 1 year. I am impressed by all those at the home: the receptionists who are happy to deal with family concerns, the catering staff who take the trouble to learn the individual likes and dislikes,the kindly and dignified approach to offering personal care,
the activity coordinators who encourage involvement in the range of activities and events offered, the domestic staff who ensure the rooms and public areas are clean and fresh. Carers and senior staff have proved attentive to any ill health concerns and have sought prompt medical attention and provide regular room checks on those in bed. While residents are encouraged to be up and participating, they also allow for personal choice of staying in bed/their rooms. Special events are celebrated (Queen's birthday, Christmas, individual birthdays), and family members are openly welcome and can join residents for meals. The question regarding Value for money - can you put a price on peace of mind?

Dale

Dale Booker

Job Title: Care home manager

Joined: 2017

Dale has been home manager at Faithfull House since June 2017 he has worked for over 20 years with Lilian Faithfull Care.


He started his career with the charity whilst working part-time as a domestic when he was at college. Since then he has worked his way in a wide variety of roles in all of our homes, spending 3 years as assistant manager, deputy manager and home manager before coming to lead Faithfull House. This experience has meant he has an in-depth knowledge of all the aspects of life in our homes, understanding every detail.


Dale thrives in his role as home manager; “It’s different every day, I am a real people person so this job is so rewarding”. His ‘open door approach’ means he is always available for residents, staff and their families. The support given to families can often be overlooked but it is an important part of Dale’s role; “We like to be there for families whenever they need us, whether for advice and guidance or to be there to listen and offer a shoulder to cry on.” Another aspect of the role that he loves is the opportunity to help staff develop “it is so rewarding helping people progress in their careers.”
