The Laurels believes in offering individualised care and always puts the person, their families and their wishes and desires at the centre of all planning.

Moved my mother into The Laurels in March 2024.
They made the move as seamless as possible and the staff are supportive and caring. The food is home-cooked and delicious.

Reply from Esia North, Registered Manager/Owner at The Laurels

The move for this lady was very difficult for her presenting with many anxieties, but working with the family proved to be a great success and she is happy and settled now into her new home.

Very welcoming and friendly staff. Always willing to answer any questions and help you in any way they can. They take the time to get to know the person they are caring for and the family as well etc. Encourages independence for every resident. A home from home.

Happy, helpful and friendly staff. Clean, warm and very welcoming. Staff are always on hand to answer questions and help residents when called for. Meals cooked on-site are healthy and nutritious and my father is allowed to eat whatever he likes. Would recommend it to anyone.

Mum and dad had lived with me for six years and I was finding it increasingly difficult to cope with dads dementia and mums increasing frailty. They are both 95 years old. When the double room became available it was felt as if it was meant to be. Mum and dad stayed for two weeks respite at first to
see if they liked it. The staff are lovely, very welcoming and always cheerful. Mum and dad are made to feel valued, and comfortable and that nothing is too much trouble. It is home from home with home-cooked meals, their own things around them, company if they want it or quiet time in their room. Mum and dad are happy which is all I could want.

The Laurels in Huntley offers a homely environment with just a few residents. As soon as you walk in, you receive a friendly, warm welcome from all of the staff. The home is always clean and tidy and if you speak to the residents, they all love it there. Most residents have been there some time and
will all tell you how lovely all of the staff are. Meals are all home cooked with fresh ingredients and residents are pampered with tea, cake and snacks throughout the day. Residents can go for a daily walk and are given autonomy over their own spending choices at the local shop. A care home choice is never easy, but The Laurels are brilliant at supporting the transition. They take over all medication and are always available to talk; especially when you just need that bit of reassurance. Thank you Team Laurels, from the bottom of my heart!

Mum has happily resided here for good number of years. She has enthused about the new owners and staff. The quality of care and the food. She is related to the previous owners and therefore was a little apprehensive about the new ones, however hers fears were soon allayed and is wonderfully enjoying
her care here. Would certainly recommend them.

From the first look at the website, it seemed clear to me that this was a caring and friendly place for my mother to go to. My first chat with the management was very reassuring, and the fact that there are only a small number of clients also meant that the staff/client ratio is always good. My mother
has improved her quality of life and her underlying mood is so much better. Thanks.

From the first contact with The Laurels, when I knew it was a lovely place, to our first visit with my father, it was obviously a great choice. The care, consideration and organisation of his move, were exemplary. The ongoing care has been great - and I'm completely happy with everything. I no longer
have to worry about him, and he is so much happier and contented.

When my friend needed a care home locally, I had heard The Laurels had a good reputation, and a neighbour of mine was having her aunt looked after there and highly recommended it. So when my friend went there, it was everything and more that was expected from a care home. It is a lovely home, and my
friend is very happy there. The staff and management are really helpful and treat everyone with the same hospitality. Highly recommended.

I just want to give my thanks to all of the staff at The Laurels for the care that they had given my grandfather over the past two years. Moving a loved one into a care facility is never easy, but as soon as I walked into The Laurels it felt like a home. I will be forever grateful for the care that
you provided him with and I will recommend The Laurels to everybody. Thanks again.

I have been very impressed with the care my husband has received over the last few weeks. Nothing is too much trouble, very flexible on times and days. Excellent home cooking, it has a real feel of being home from home. I would definately recommend. I know I do not need to worry when I leave him.

Mum moved to The Laurels at the beginning of June after careful consideration amongst the family. Mum was frail, lonely and underweight, and had lived on her own for 12 years. Within 6 weeks Mum's health has improved and she is putting weight on and looks so much happier than before. This is a lovely,
homely, comfortable environment and the staff do their utmost to care and nurture all the residents. Having spent so much time worrying about Mum prior to her moving in, we now feel so reassured and confident Mum is having the best care possible and enjoying her life once again. Thank you to all the staff.

We are very lucky to welcome this lovely lady into our home! She came for day care to get used to us all and has settled in really well. She joins in all activities and likes to keep busy so she is involved in light housework, drying dishes and goes up to the pub with staff on Fridays.

I have been a resident at The Laurels for the past six weeks. I am delighted with the experience and would thoroughly recommend it. The home has proved spotlessly clean with excellent care, a very caring staff and a very homely and welcoming staff. I am delighted that my daughter was able to get me
a place.

A very informal residential home with a family feel. All staff are very pleasant and the small number of residents means individual attention which promotes a feeling of wellbeing and being cared for.
The food is of a high standard and individual dietary requirements and whims are catered for.

The Laurels staff have been excellent with my mother. She moved into her room in May after a spell in hospital. She is a very independent person and I worried how she would settle in, but I should have had no such worry as all the staff have time for her and made her feel so welcome. My mother has improved
no end since moving into The Laurels after living alone for two years after my father's death. Cannot recommend the Manager and her staff enough.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.625)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.625) out of 10 for The Laurels is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for The Laurels is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Laurels is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 8 registered maximum number of service users is 1.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 1.6 = 0.625

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
