The Laurels offers high-quality residential care to the elderly in a peaceful, homely environment.

The Laurels believes in offering individualised care and always puts the person, their families and their wishes and desires at the centre of all planning.

There is a small, friendly team of staff and the home has its own cooks who develop menus based on individual choices.

There is also an activity co-ordinator who will work with each individual to ensure they are meaningfully occupied both in the home and in the community.

All residents are welcome to individualise their bedrooms and telephones and Wi-Fi is available in all rooms.

All members of staff are superb. Their kindness and care cannot be bettered.
The Laurels is a quite splendid residence in every respect. I could not be more content at the bright, sunny, airy room I have with all facilities.

This is a very good care home.
The owner does her best to please us, She is also a very generous person and we only have to ask if we want anything special.
Her aim is to please and take care of us, the residents.

My father is a resident at the Laurels.
He settled in really quickly due to safe, calm and incredibly comfortable atmosphere of the care home.
There is a full-time chef so all meals are freshly prepared with a good selection of menus.
There is a safe and sunny courtyard where the residents enjoy
their morning coffee and afternoon tea and my dad has really taken to helping with minor tasks in the garden.
The home offers regular accompanied walks to the local shop to get a daily paper and I am constantly kept informed of my dad's progress and health needs.
I feel very pleased with the care The Laurels is giving my father and I would recommend it.

It is a pleasure to support this gentleman who is very happy at The Laurels. He is occupied daily with meaningful tasks in the garden and maintains my courtyard beautifully. He has also been helpful in planting the hanging baskets and painting bird tables. He attends the local rambling group in Huntley every week and is also escorted to a day centre in Cinderford on Thursdays.

Mum was adamant that she did she did not want to go into a care home but when her physical ability began to deteriorate we embarked on an emotional and difficult journey to find the right home. The Laurels provides all aspects of high-quality care delivered by professional, friendly, dedicated staff,
that is essential for mum to feel settled and content in her new environment. Freshly prepared home cooked food. Activity programme has made The Laurels a wonderful reassuring find for all the family to which mum has settled into very well.

I really cannot stress enough how pleased I am with every aspect of The Laurels. All staff are outstanding and care given is second to none! It;s a great comfort to know my step-father is being cared for in such a respectful way. His Key worker, in particular, goes out of his way to keep my step-father
entertained; he is my step-father's favourite person.

My father lived at The Laurels for six years. He was really happy there and very well cared for. The staff are all fantastic, making the effort to really get to know their residents. The manager was particularly helpful during my fathers last few weeks and I felt terrifically supported in this respect.

I have travelled around a bit and this is one of the nicest places I've stayed in, and the best food I have ever had. A really nice and relaxing place to live. The staff and management are really good.

The service of this home is excellent in many ways. Friendly staff, wife range of meals to suit the individual, all needs are met. People are treated with respect and dignity, very homely. It has recently had a new manager who has peoples interests at heart and very approachable.

Always a high level of care and a friendly approach - visitors are always made welcome and supported with information.
I often turned up at odd times to collect or deliver items and was always helped. I would recommend to families with relatives at all stages of care needs.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.625)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.625) out of 10 for The Laurels is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for The Laurels is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Laurels is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 8 registered maximum number of service users is 1.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 1.6 = 0.625

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
