Mum has been at Oak Tree for nearly three years, and she and I are both 100% sure she is in the best place. It really feels like home. All the carers are so kind; they take the time to sit down and chat with all the residents. There is a lot of laughter at Oak Tree Mews. I have never regretted making
the difficult decision to put Mum here.

My mother had resided at Oaktree Mews since March 2015. Over the last two and a half years, there has been a vast steady improvement with the management and staff. Oaktree is now a lovely home for its residents. During the most difficult time of covid, my mother passed away. I will be eternally grateful
to the manager and her angels for the wonderful care, attention and dignity that Mum and our family were offered during this extremely sad time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making Mum's end of life so calm and peaceful.

My mother was in Oak Tree Mews for two years and passed away in February. During her time there she was treated with great kindness and was very contented. The manager has worked hard to create a lovely team of dedicated, caring and friendly staff around her and Mum was very fond of them, as I think
they were of her. When she was very ill in hospital, all she wanted was to get back to Oak Tree and I am so glad that it was possible to transfer her back there for palliative care. I cannot thank them enough. Highly recommended.

My mother has been staying at Oak Tree Mews for 2 weeks now, we have found the staff to be efficient, friendly and very caring towards her needs. Her room is spacious, clean and bright and we have had no complaints from her after such a big upheaval and life change at this stage in her life. We would
recommend this care home.

My mum-in-law has lived at Oak Tree Mews for nearly 3 years and in that time, she has been extremely well cared for. The staff have been wonderful to her, not only caring for her but being her friend too and she has loved them all. When my husband died, they really helped us by making sure mum was not
left on her own and supporting her during the difficult time. They always kept us informed when they were concerned about mum.

Homely and clean. Very helpful staff and were welcoming. Discussed the resident and her needs and was there anything they could do to make her life more comfortable.
Encouraged the residents to move and eat at the dining table and also gave them trips out which gave the residents something to look
forward to.

My mother was a resident of Oak Tree Mews for four and a half years in total and at all times staff have been invariably kind and caring. However, despite best efforts of staff in the home its overall effectiveness in meeting residents needs was hampered by too high a drive for cost control by regional
and head office staff. This was particularly true at the time of the near operational collapse of the home is 2017 when staff were grossly underpaid in relation to local market conditions and left in droves notwithstanding their care for residents!
My ratings reflect my view of the home for the duration of my mother's stay except for 2017 and early 2018.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, TBC at Oak Tree Mews Care Home

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review and we are pleased that you felt the staff were kind and caring to your mother during her time living at the home. We always review our offer to staff to ensure it is competitive and rates of pay have been increased at the home. We also offer award-winning training and progression opportunities. Colleagues have recently completed the annual staff survey and the results across the company will be analysed and changes made if they are needed.

Set in the beautiful Cotswold Market town of Moreton on the Marsh, Oak Tree Mews offers high quality of care in an idyllic setting. The home is clean and well equipped, the staff caring, friendly and diligent. Residents have clean well-furnished rooms with beautiful views out into the countryside. A
large patio and garden complete this wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

My mother lived in Oak Tree Mews for almost five years. On June 2 she was taken very ill and passed away on June 11. During this very difficult time, the staff went above and beyond the call of duty. They cared for her in every way possible to make her passing comfortable and dignified and they also
cared for us, the family, nothing was too much trouble. Words cannot convey how very grateful we are. Thank you all.

Oak Tree Mews is a quant care home in the lovely Cotswolds area of England. The staff are very kind and caring. I spent three weeks in their care convalescing from a broken ankle and the care I received was very good. Just what I needed to recover in order to be able to travel back home to Canada.

Having experienced 2 care homes with relatives my mother being at Oak Tree Mews, the staff come over and above previous homes. No one is ignored I witness each resident being included whether helping to feed, going to the bathroom and above all talking, chatting and laughter. The food is well presented
and tasty. The room is regularly deep cleaned. Maybe the bathroom slightly small, however, the home beats other homes which can be all frills.

Very friendly staff, my father did very well while he was there. He became much better. He always looked presentable. Flexibility with paying was very helpful as being POE is quite difficult.

Re activities: I was not aware of him going out. He does not like going out of his chair. He may have refused.

Overall the home is clean and the care is very good to excellent. The negatives are that the annual fee increases are very high and typically twice inflation.
Attention to detail with resident care is sometimes lacking e.g. Missing a long-awaited hearing clinic appointment.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Oak Tree Mews Care Home

Thank you very much for leaving us feedback and positive comments. Regarding fee increases, there are a number of costs which all care homes need to absorb, including increases to the living wage and higher utility and food costs. We do carefully review our fees and are confident that they represent the true cost of care. We are sorry that the hearing aid appointment was missed and the Home Manager has reviewed the systems in place at the home to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future.

We booked my mother into Oak Tree Mews Care Home over the Christmas and new year period as we were unable to have her stay with us. She stayed for 4 weeks. She had been falling frequently at home and we had become concerned about her safety, particularly at night. She was also spending most of her time
in bed. At Oak Tree Mews Care Home she was made very welcome and was well looked after by the caring staff. We felt she was safe there and mum got stronger and more confident walking again.

My mother has been a part-time resident for a few years, more recently becoming a five day resident on a weekly basis. I find the manager and the team extremely helpful, courteous and most of all very caring in their approach to my mother. The home is kept to a very high standard and is clean and neat
and tidy at any time I visit. The manager has done a wonderful job in pulling the team together and turning around the home.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.421)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.421) out of 10 for Oak Tree Mews Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.821 for Oak Tree Mews Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (56 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 67 Ratings = 4.821

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak Tree Mews Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
