Redlands Acre is a large Victorian house situated on the outskirts of Gloucester, which has been extended to provide very spacious accommodation.

A large lounge and dining room overlook the busy road for those who like to see the world go by, and a further lounge and dining room farther back in the building cater for those who like a quieter environment.

A glass corridor opens onto a large hexagonal conservatory providing further choice of space and this in turn leads to the hairdressing salon and a decked atrium. The atrium gives access to luxury care suites which offer residents larger accommodation with their own lounge, kitchen, bedroom and shower room, as well as a small private patio.

The many areas of communal space allow a variety of entertainments and activities to take place without impacting on those people who chose not to join in. This is a lively home especially suited to people who enjoy a social lifestyle.

I am a friend of a gentleman resident at Redlands Acre.
After trying to cope on his own, it was apparent he needed to be in a care home. Visiting him at Redlands, it is clear he's very happy here and the staff are always so lovely, not just to him but to myself every time I visit, it's very reassuring.

I came to the home for a fortnight for care after an operation. I have had good care and now feel well enough to look after myself at home. The staff are all so friendly and helpful and soon made me feel at home. I appreciated having a large airy room.

My mother required 24/7 respite in advance of a total hip replacement, following heart surgery.
As such, she required in total 9 weeks stay at Redlands Acre. She was is a high level of constant pain, as a consequence of a degraded hip which had completely failed, and was recovering from significant
heart surgery.
All of this not only demanded a high level of competence in relation to managing my mother's significant medication, but also a demonstration of the right levels of behavioural care and patience, and also occasional flexibility to assist in taking my mother to a number of hospital appointments.
Throughout her stay, the Management Team and supporting staff, performed at the highest standard, meeting all the above challenges, and exceeding both my expectations and those of my mother.
The ultimate proof of this is through the strong relationships formed between my mother and I and the fantastic staff. Whilst my mother is now home, we will be maintaining contact with the staff.

Excellent service and staff. So much compassion and care by all members of staff. Could not ask for anything better. Five-star service with a lovely family caring attitude. Could not do any more than my father deserves.

I am friend and attorney for a lady and gentleman resident.
My lady friend had several falls in her own home before moving to Redlands, so knowing she is safe and being constantly checked by lovely staff is comforting. She has regular conversation and is eating well.
My gentleman friend is much
happier and looks healthier having gained a little weight. He said to me 'I wish I'd moved in years ago'

Mum has been at Redlands for nearly eighteen months, she took some time to settle in but all the staff have been so helpful and kind in making sure that she is comfortable and safe. All the staff greet us when we visit and we feel very welcome. They encourage all the residents to take part in as many
activities as possible but are also very aware of their privacy.

The home is well run by the Manager. He has a great friendly caring team behind him. As soon as someone answers the front door you get welcomed by a friendly smile and would you like a Tea or Coffee!!! Also nothing is to much trouble for the staff even though they are always busy. There are lots of
activities the residents can do if they want. My father is 94 years old has been here for about 5 years, he is very happy here and treated with dignity and respect all the time. As I live in Somerset I only get to visit once a month, but I know he is so well looked after. Highly recommended. 10/10

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.724)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.724) out of 10 for Redlands Acre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.824 for Redlands Acre is calculated as follows: ( (92 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.824

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Redlands Acre is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
