Throughout this year with a major pandemic to deal with, I feel that the Lilian Faithfull group (particularly Royal Court where my mother has lived for 18 months) has acted with professionalism where the safety of its residents has been paramount. The care home was locked down well before the government
issued all residential care homes to do so. Communication to residents' relatives was consistent, this is in the form of newsletters from the chief executive and director of care updating us monthly on their Co-vid 19 policies, window visits etc. Communication via Royal Court itself from relatives to residents can be through a phone call, Zoom or Skype, email or I write cards or letters to my mum in large print so that she has had something to re-read during the times when myself and my siblings couldn't see her. Last week on the 12th of October, the home went into lockdown as cases rise again in Cheltenham and I am thankful that I know my mum is well supported by all the staff at Royal Court.

I would like to congratulate the staff and residents of Royal Court through the last six months. The care of the residents was utmost with all the staff. So much effort was given to entertainment and making sure the residents were 'happy'. I cannot praise them all enough.

Wow. The staff at this home go above and beyond what is expected of them, always having a smile and chat and the best bit, they do not rush the time they have with residents giving high-class care to all. Care is always at the forefront of what they do, from day trips to holidays and daily activities
it’s a home from home. I would thoroughly recommend them.
The home itself is very bright, airy and appealing.

My father had dementia and used to go to Royal Court for respite before he sadly passed away. He was always happy here and had a great relationship with the staff. Considering he was quite shy and never one for making conversation, I could guarantee they would always have him laughing, which was lovely
to see. He had some happy times here.

Royal Court is a fabulous home. The staff and management are very caring and listen to any concerns that the family may of had. The flats are lovely and fresh looking, we loved that Gran had a flat and not just a room, much more homely and we could make it how Gran wanted it.
The home is overall clean
and welcoming. There is plenty going on with activities and day trips. All the staff get involved with special dressing up/celebration days.
Gran only had a short time lived at Royal Court but was memorable.

One word describes Royal Court - fabulous. Staff are fabulous, accommodation is fabulous and the food is fabulous. My mother has improved significantly in their care and is a completely different woman to when she first came to live at Royal Court. She is well looked after and fussed over by the staff
and she thinks they are amazing. Safe and happy - what more can you ask for your nearest and dearest.

Royal Court provides excellent care and support. Staff are very patient and you always feel that they are providing care focused on the individual though this must be difficult at times.
All staff will always find time to sit and discuss any issues which is a great comfort.
Accommodation is a very
high standard and certainly the best we have seen in this type of home.

My husband has been a patient at Royal Court on two occasions. My husband has always been very happy. The staff have been very kind and friendly. His room was a first class flat. The food was great, plenty of it and cooked at the home. This is a 1st class nursing home and should have five stars.

My mum receives great care from the dedicated staff. We are really happy that she is well cared for and she has her dignity once more.
She is much healthier in the six weeks that she has been there and this is due to the great food and great care.

My wife has been a resident at Royal Court since September 2018. She has dementia and other health problems. The care she has received has been outstanding. All the staff and management have been brilliant, not only to my wife but also to myself.

I have been very well looked after and I am grateful to everyone for their kindness throughout. A personal thanks to one member of staff who has been so helpful especially with the mobile phone. Also, the cleaner has kept my room spotless.

Although my mother has dementia and doesn't understand where she is, I know she is sometimes happy and that she likes the staff. As a visitor, I am always made to feel welcome by all categories of staff, and over the past 3 years, I have consistently seen them demonstrate a caring attitude in sometimes
challenging situations. Residents are clearly treated and respected as individuals.

Royal Court ticks all the boxes where my brother is concerned. His health has improved due to nourishment and personal care and he has peace of mind someone is on hand if he falls ill. Mentally he is much happier, motivated with the activities on hand and always greets us with a big smile, as do all
the staff, which is wonderful for us. I feel he's got an extended family.

My brother has been well looked after for the last few years. He is very happy in his 'flat'. He used to enjoy the outings and activities. The staff are all very caring and kind. I have always found all staff to be helpful if I needed to ask anything. I would recommend this home to anyone.

I find the staff very friendly and cannot do enough for my mother, always popping in and having a chat whenever someone's there. Mum seems happy to be there and has settled in nicely. They have entertainment, days out, a garden they can sit in, a nice conservatory. The rooms are always clean. It's like
a little flat. The resident has a separate bedroom and their own sitting room with a small kitchenette. Downstairs they have a communal sitting room with games, TV etc.

I cannot thank the staff and praise them enough for their dedication above and beyond the call of duty in my aunt's final weeks. They arranged, between them, that she would never be on her own and someone was always holding her hand, reading to her, and playing music.

Their concern for both me and

her brother (my father) was touching.

I sincerely hope that I am lucky enough to be looked after by them in the future.

I am generally very satisfied with Royal Court. The staff seem trained and keep me well informed. My mother is not easy to manage, but most of the time, she is well handled. I appreciate having the kitchenette in the flat - although the cutlery I keep bringing in and most of the cups keep going missing
- the staff tell me they all go to the central dishwasher and never seem to come back! I am satisfied that my mother is safe there and there are lots of activities for her to partake in, should she wish to. Thank you for being so kind to both me and my mother.

Wonderful staff. Very caring and professional. When my mother went into care, my wife was working with the ambulance patient transport service and had a good knowledge of all the local care homes and rated Royal Court. It turned out to be better than we expected! We were always delighted with the care
my mother received and this gave us great peace of mind. Accommodation is excellent too.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.317)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.317) out of 10 for Royal Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.888 for Royal Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 80 Ratings = 4.888

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.429 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Royal Court Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.6 = 0.729

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
