Ashley House Care Home is situated in the small town of Langport, a civil parish of Somerset. The attractive home dates back to Victorian times and is at the end of a quiet, beautiful tree-lined avenue.

The skilled and dedicated care team provide care 24 hours a day from a tailored and person-centred approach, allowing for flexibility and choice for each individual. The teams are on hand to assist with all everyday tasks required and would describe Ashley House as a ‘home from home’.

Ashley House offers both permanent placements and shorter respite breaks providing flexibility suitable to each individual’s situation. A shorter respite break is ideal for if family members are going on holiday or if you just require some TLC. Understanding that moving into a care home can be a daunting thought, respite is a great way to sample Ashley House prior to making any final decisions.

All bedrooms are fully furnished inclusive of a television, and many of the bedrooms also have en-suite facilities. Ashley House also offers bedrooms with stunning views of the garden and has various homely spacious communal rooms including a lounge and separate dining room. The garden is maintained all year round and leads to a light and airy conservatory perfect for soaking up the summer weather.

Ashley House understands how important mealtimes are, this is why the chef offers a nutritious and varied menu attractive to all nutritional needs and tastes. The Activity Coordinator is also on hand to provide an engaging and varied activity and events calendar suitable for all interests and personalities.

My father has been a resident at Ashley House for two and a half very happy years. The ethos is to provide a home from home environment so there are no regimented routines; residents get up when they want, eat where they want and get as involved in the activities as they wish. The carers are dedicated
and hardworking, making the residents feel safe and loved but all the staff contribute to the cheerful atmosphere, providing high standards of cleanliness and excellent food. Ashley House has retained its good rating from the CQC as a result of the changes and developments put in place by the manager who acts on suggestions and is constantly looking to improve the fabric of the building and extend the amenities. For example, the number and range of activities have been expanded to include a fitness class and "Toddler Tuesdays"; this is a delightful hour when residents get to sing and complete activities with an energetic pre-school group.

Dad has been a resident of Ashley House for a month. After a shaky 48 hours, he has become familiar with the routines and learnt to accept the help on offer. After many years of independent living, he has needed to be encouraged to treat the house as a hotel.


He enjoys the food provided and put on

a kilo in the first fortnight, causing him to take care of what he eats in between meals. He has a very comfortable, newly decorated and furnished, spacious room with ensuite toilet and sink. The view from his room across the moor to the railway viaduct is exceptional and keeps him entertained throughout the day.


The management have been very supportive in allowing us to provide him with Sky for his TV and an amplified phone - two of the important elements of his life at home - maintaining continuity of his lifestyle.

My mother initially went for respite care for one week but after returning home for one day decided she much preferred living at Ashley House. It is a home in the true sense of the word, friendly, welcoming, caring, open. As her daughter I drop in with no notice and have always enjoyed my visits and
always been very pleased and surprised at what activities mum has been doing from planting seeds to singing, walking, flower arranging, making cards etc. I've found all the staff to be very caring and helpful and always available. Mum has dementia and I think it is just the right size home for her she has made friends easily and can recognise the staff, shes also very proud of her room which has an en-suite, which I consider essential for her independence and privacy.

Ashley House has provided a safe and friendly day care for my mother who is 93 years old, she lives with us and receives day care twice a week. The staff are always friendly and mum tells us the food is lovely.
We feel very happy to leave mum in their care which gives us that much needed respite.

Ashley House is an old Victorian building and is in the process of being upgraded internally with paint and decor.
However, the care given is excellent and I would not want to put her in any other care home.
This is an excellent home.

I was so thrilled to get my mother into this residential home. The staff are brilliant, so caring and helpful and so patient. My mother's room looks out over the Somerset levels where she can see cows. Coming from a farming background, she loves it.
The meals are nourishing and well presented.

Recently under new management, I can already see changes in the living conditions, menus and inclusion of residents in decision making.
During my mother's short spell here, she received care and love above and beyond the call of duty from the amazing staff.
I cannot express my gratitude enough, they
gave her a very special, peaceful end of life experience. She died with dignity thanks to those lovely ladies.

This is a small well-established care home with caring friendly staff. Since the arrival of the new manager, the rooms and gardens are being refurbished and replanted. Meals are beginning to be more varied and residents seem to enjoy them. Public rooms and residents bedrooms are always clean and tidy
and residents flowers are always looked after by the staff. It would be pleasing to see more activities and outings for the residents and greater use of the gardens.

The level of care and warmth towards residents is outstanding. I could not recommend it more highly. My mother has a difficult medical condition which all the carers deal with cheerfully and respectfully. Everything else, including management and food, is fine. One small thing - I hope more can be done
to get residents out of their rooms and into the garden in the summer.
