Surrounded by over an acre of its own productive garden within the beautiful Cheddar Valley, most rooms have country views. The house, in Draycott, is within a short drive of both Cheddar and Wells, lying at the foot of Mendip near Wedmore. Draycott has a village shop, churches, a village hall, pubs and hourly bus services connecting directly with Cheddar, Wells and Weston.

Came for two weeks of respite care after a hip operation. Staff very caring and supportive. Foo - excellent. Able to move around inside and outside, and to use the stairs for physio exercises.

The Laurels was my mothers home for six years until her death in November, at the age of 101. Mum was treated with great care and compassion and encouraged to take part in all the activities on offer. The staff were so very kind to her and ensured that during her final weeks, even in these difficult
'covid' times, Mum was surrounded by love and received the very best of care.

My mum became a resident at The Laurels Care Home at the beginning of the first national Lockdown, due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, which meant we were not able to visit the home before she arrived. However, we were given as much information and help as possible to ensure Mum's move went smoothly, including
a virtual tour. Despite all the restrictions and difficulties related to Covid-safety, Mum was made so welcome and immediately felt comfortable in what was to be her new home. When limited visiting was allowed, the staff did all they could to make this a positive experience. The managers and care staff are always friendly, helpful and understanding. They listen to and act on any worries or concerns. Staff go the extra mile to ensure the welfare and happiness of the residents. My mum feels well cared for and says how kind everyone is to her. She very much enjoys the food at The Laurels and will join in activities more than she ever used to.

My Mother started at The Laurels Care Home in Draycott in 2014, attending once a week for daycare. After an illness, she became a full-time resident where she remained for over 5 years. The staff were always caring and supportive of the residents and their families and they treated the residents with
respect. The home was clean and the food mostly good. I was really pleased that they increased the activities the residents could take part in and they had visiting musicians who came to sing and play. I was very pleased they kept Mum until her passing and the end of life care was excellent.

Dad was in The Laurels for respite from 1st July 2019, and he became a permanent resident on 4th October 2019. From day one the outstanding level of support and care demonstrated by the staff shone through, taking into account own issue, Dad is now lively and not just existing. Nothing is ever too much
from the staff, no matter what time of day or night. The Christmas party yesterday was awesome.

Staff are very welcoming and assuring. The Laurels is a real 'home from home' and my husband is much better looked after than the last home he was in. I have no complaints and it is a pleasure to visit there.

Initially visited The Laurels Care Home with my partner who has Alzheimer's unannounced. Immediately impressed with the warmth and caring attitude. My partner was admitted for 2 weeks respite. He was very happy and often commented on the friendly helpful attitude of all the staff. He enjoyed the food
and joined in with many activities.

A very friendly care home with welcoming staff. The resident's needs are catered for and staff go the extra mile to ensure this. The home is clean and safe, with all meals prepared by the cook. Being a relatively small home means that the staff and residents can really get to know one another.

Lovely care home in a rural setting.


My great grandmother has been here for a number of years and our family are very happy in the care she receives. As it is a small home I feel staff get to know all residents on a personal level making the care and support offered excellent.


The Laurels is

very homely and the staff all work to ensure this is maintained - visiting my great grandmother is a pleasant experience as the staff are so welcoming.


Residents are offered activities and taken out on trips which is a nice touch, encouraging residents to socialise and remain active.


The rooms are cleaned regularly and the room my great grandmother is in has a lovely view with good facilities.


Meals offered are nutritious and plentiful.


I would recommend The Laurels to a friend!

My stay in The Laurels Care Home for 5 weeks after having a hip operation. The first concern was that I was to have what I want each day, this did not happen. I was in the same sheets for a fortnight and I had to ask them to be changed. The room was very comfortable but for the positioning of the two
doors. The food was good but the breakfast did not work out. 2 carers brought bruises and blood to my operated leg. I was very happy with 3 members of the staff who were especially caring.

My mother has been at The Laurels for nearly 4 years. During this time she has been well cared for and I have found the staff helpful, caring and friendly. I especially like that many of them are locals and therefore have a connection with us and mum. Her care needs have increased as her dementia has
got worse but so far seems to cope. We hope she remains reasonably happy and can stay where she is as if she had to move she would be very confused.

My mother has been at The Laurels for about four years. We have been very satisfied with her care over that time. We especially like it because it is small (number of residents), it is clean and the food is mostly 'English' (this suits Mum). Most important the staff are kind, patient and local - they
know places and people that Mum knows.
