The Towans care home is located on the coast in Burnham on Sea, Somerset, with many of the rooms having sea views.

The home cares for up to 28 people and residents are encouraged to bring personal possessions such as pictures and mementos to make them feel at home.

There are two lounges where residents can socialise as well as a conservatory which looks out onto the garden which is full of shrubs and flowers. In addition, there is a 'bistro-style' dining room where residents can chat and eat.

Nutrition is an important part of life at The Towans and residents are given fresh home-cooked food. Snacks and hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day.

We would not hesitate to recommend The Towans Nursing home. They take exceptional care of my father-in-law. Staff always greet with a happy smile and have no hesitation in answering any questions we may have. Father-in-law says the food is excellent - it certainly looks good! The housekeeping within
the home - cleanliness etc is very good. The staff all go the extra mile to make sure that our loved one is safe and happy. They have managed and continue to manage the Covid pandemic extremely well.

Whilst Mum didn't want to go into a home, she now regards it as a godsend. All of the staff cannot do enough for her and her family are so pleased with the care and attention she receives. We cannot fault the treatment she receives so would recommend this home, without a doubt.

This is an excellent care home. It does what it says on the tin - it cares - in every aspect. The staff are very friendly and easily approached. The home itself is up to date and well cared for. My mum is happy to be there, and that makes the family happy. There is always someone around for a chat and
a coffee.

This is a very well run home, clean and homely. Staff are always very friendly and offer a cup of tea and a biscuit. My brother is being well looked after, he is spotlessly clean and all his needs are being met. There is regular entertainment to keep residents occupied and plenty of areas within the
home for residents to enjoy including the conservatory and outdoor space. I really can't fault the place.

My aunt first went to The Towans as respite care. She was very hesitant to go and unsure if it would be for her. She absolutely loved it. When she realised looking after her isolated cottage was too much, she went to the Towans permanently and has not looked back. The cleanliness, the friendliness and
the standard of care have been superb. Every single person from the owner to cleaners, caterers and care staff cannot do enough to help. She is so happy, which for a very independent and very "with it" lady is quite some testament.
The home is brilliant at contact with relatives and nothing is too much trouble. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

As for so many people, this has been a very difficult year for my mum with Covid restricting visits and her mental health has deteriorated as a result. However, the Towans team have worked very hard to look after her and keep her safe and happy, and I am so pleased that she has been with them. Residents
are treated with such care and respect, and there is a great atmosphere of a big friendly family with lots of fun and activities.
Knowing that she is safe there and being cared for in such a cheery way makes me feel very happy that she is with the Towans.

Within 5 minutes of walking into The Towans for the first time, I knew this was the right place for my Dad. That was 6 years ago. I can sleep easy knowing Dad is receiving the best care from wonderful staff in a warm and homely environment. The social side is also exceptional.

My father came to Towans after a spell in hospital after a fall at home. The staff have made him feel very welcome and he was soon back to his old self. His room has a sea view and he loves to watch the people on the beach. Dad likes to stay in his room and the staff look in on him regularly and stay
for a chat. The food is excellent with a choice of freshly cooked meals and a plentiful supply of tea and coffee. I am very pleased he is in Towans during this COVID-19 epidemic as they look after their residents so well, keeping them safe. I would recommend this care home to anyone.

I am so pleased my friend is residing in The Towans, especially during this pandemic. If she was at home it would be very lonely for her, she is so pleased to have the company of the staff and residents. It is nice to see that entertainment is still provided. I cannot speak more highly of all the staff
who are always so jolly and friendly. I am told the food is lovely and I can confirm that from buffets I have experienced before covid. The staff can not do enough for the residents and visitors. It is lovely that they have erected an outside visitor building so visits can be held safely throughout the winter.

Mum has been at The Towans since January. We are really pleased with every aspect of her care. She has a lovely airy room with her own shower, which she really likes. The staff worked really hard to help her settle in and are always on hand, treating her with respect, patience and kindness. The food
is great and caters for the residents' personal preferences, Mum enjoys the coffee and cake! We have always been made welcome when visiting. There are a variety of activities which the residents are encouraged to join in with. It is really lovely to see the regular updates on the Facebook page.

My mother moved into The Towans in January 2020 on a recommendation from a friend, my sister and I could not be more delighted with our choice.
This is an extremely special place and with hindsight we feel very lucky to have got mum in here.
As soon as you walk in you are made to feel so welcome,
it is obvious that all the staff very much enjoy their jobs and care very much for the residents wellbeing.
The thought and effort they put in to keeping the residents entertained is fantastic. Especially during the very stressful current situation.
The food is lovely, having been sampled at the many social events we have attended!
They are a very special group of people and my sister and I are very grateful for the peace of mind they have given us during this very difficult time.
Just to know mum is being so well cared for in a safe and wonderful environment is priceless and to know she is so happy at what can be a very difficult time.

Mum has been living at the Towans for nearly a year now and I cannot praise the home enough. The staff are extremely caring and professional and the other residents are lovely. The home itself provides a comfortable and homely environment for the residents. As a family we are so pleased we managed

This residence is bright, colourful and very welcoming. Cosy and warm in winter, cool and fresh in summer, with lovely well-kept gardens, enclosed with shrubs and climbing plants.
The staff are very patient, caring, pleasant and always aware of resident's needs/requests.
Very weekday has activities/outings
(and entertainment) arranged and fete days, bbq's during the summer.
We are very appreciative of all the staff for their care and attention.

My father had a major operation and needed care post-p. This home has provided excellent care tailored to his needs and is encouraging him to be able to have the confidence to go home and care for himself.
All the staff are caring, considerate and respectful or their resident's individual needs. I
have been most impressed. The food is also of a very high standard. All the rooms are comfortable and well furnished. They are particularly good at arranging activities for the residents.

I joined the Towans as manager at the end of the summer in 2023, and am delighted to be working in such a wonderful home with a dedicated team of care professionals who are well respected by health professionals for providing outstanding care and support to our residents.

I have been at Towans for 10 years where I started as an apprentice and worked up into Management after gaining my Level 5. The best part is being able to care for so many individuals and give back to them as they have all their lives. I enjoy working with all team members and feel like I have grown up in Towans. Towans staff, residents and families become part of the Towans Team being included in the daily running of the Towans.


I try to be a problem solver and feel part of my new role recently is supporting the Families and residents alike but always being at hand for staff and any situations that arise to deal with appropriately and swiftly.
