Sadly unable to comment on various items because of Covid. I have not been able to see my husbands room. He appears to be well-fed, but he cannot remember what he has eaten. He is safe which to me is very important indeed. he is affable and happy.

My mother has been a resident in Buckland Court for six months. I have been very impressed with all the staff that I have spoken to. They are so kind and helpful. I visited my mother yesterday. It was wonderful to be able to see her after such a long time of not being able to. The person who met me
and explained about the Covid test and wearing the PPE was so very kind. I was feeling quite worried before my visit. I found my mother was happy with everything at the home, especially the carers. She said they were lovely. That means everything to me and my sister.

The staff at Buckland Court are extremely caring individuals, who provide excellent individualised care for all of their residents. The care that has been given to my mother is second to none, they know their resident's personalities and likes/dislikes. They engage the residents in activities that ensure
they enjoy each and every experience. I am so happy we chose Buckland Court for my mother, they're amazing.

Extremely difficult to write a review at this time due to the resident being a new comer and visiting is off limited due to Covid, but what I can say is everyone I've spoken with and met through a door/window have been very warm and friendly.
Looking forward to my very first indoor face to face visit
this Tuesday.

Dreadful situation with Covid-19, however:
- staff remain helpful and friendly, my mother is fond of all of them
- I wish the rooms were slightly bigger
- the food is good but could some variety be introduced like curry delivery
- given the circumstances, we are happy for my mother to be a resident
at Buckland Court.

I cannot recommend Buckland Court enough. In these difficult times, they continue to provide an excellent service with as much care and good cheer as before, despite all the new care guidelines and protocol they have had to put in place. My mother is always neatly dressed and looking well cared for
and I am kept fully informed by the staff on what she has been doing and how her health is.

My aunt arrived at Buckland Court mid-August and because of the Covid restrictions was confined to her room for 2 weeks. I thas been very sad for her and her family that we were not able to help her adjust to her new life. Having said that the staff at Buckland Court have treated her with respect and
kindness, I'm happy to say that she is feeling much more at home. We are grateful to all at Buckland Court for the care and dedication shown to here.

our mother joined Buckland Court at the beginning of July 20. She has moderate Alzheimers and Parkinsons. She has found it very difficult to settle but in these Covid times, we are not surprised. It is very difficult to see her so unhappy but we know she is safe and well cared for. All the staff we
have met are caring and kind. They have tried to accommodate her and our wishes and they treat her with respect.

I have always found the staff very friendly and accommodating, the care is first class as are all the activities that are available for the residents. I am very impressed with the way the home has handled the pandemic regarding visiting and safety measures.

It's too early to say but my aunt is comfortable, safe, well-fed and well medicated. Covid-19 lockdown has been in place since she arrived which is very hard on her and her mental wellbeing.

Given all the Covid restrictions and desires to keep residents safe they have tried hard to accommodate our efforts to stay in touch with our mother. I would like to see an acceptable alternative to the cloth face-covering e.g a clear visor. My mother is deaf and relies on her ability to lip-read impossible
with a face covering. We resort to communicating via a board and marker pen, not ideal and sad for us all. The staff are kind and helpful.

In general, the staff and atmosphere are of a good standard and my parents are looked after well. On the odd occasion, I feel the cleanliness could be better, but overall, most times, satisfactory.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.011)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.011) out of 10 for Buckland Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.411 for Buckland Court is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (45 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.411

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Buckland Court is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.8

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
