Somerhill House Care Home has two buildings on a large site with a field to the south providing expansive views over the vale of Dauntsey. The original historic building has benefited from the addition of a state of the art nursing facility.

The new building has large rooms with generous sized wet rooms. The residents lounge is augmented by a coffee shop/bar and residents can enjoy hair and beauty treatments in their own salon.

The nurse manager and his experienced team ensure the delivery of quality care specifically designed to meet each individual resident's needs.

There are terraces where residents can sit, entertain their visitors, dine and take afternoon tea. The large landscaped gardens can be enjoyed by residents and their families.

The dedicated activities organiser ensures a full programme of varied activities are provided in the home.

Somerhill House recognises the importance of food as a pleasure and also a nutritional aid to nursing care. The experienced chef and the team ensure the delivery of delicious meals with choices and also catering for specialist diets. The chef attends residents meeting where menus are discussed.

My father-in-law was so well looked after during his (sadly) very short stay at Hill House. The rooms and public areas are modern and immaculate with views over the countryside. The manager was very responsive to requests and made a point of arranging special activities for men. Both nursing and care
staff could not do enough to make him feel at home and took the time to chat and introduce him to others with common interests.

My father stayed for 1 week to convalesce after having 2 infections. He needed to be looked after and have his medicines given to him, and these were done very well. I was very happy with the way he was looked after. The staff were very professional, and also patient and understanding.

Everybody was very courteous from my interview to the day I left. The staff were always on hand when needed, the room and bed comfortable, the food very good and always something going on in the day room, during my stay.

My mother, who has vascular dementia, moved into Hill House in August 2018, having begun to struggle at home and becoming increasingly anxious. She has settled extremely well into the home, as a result of the excellent care she has received. The staff are very caring and always have time for the residents.
The home appears well run. There are plenty of activities for residents, with an excellent activities organiser. One of the attractions of Hill House was that they get as many residents as possible downstairs in the lounge so that they can be engaged socially. I visited many homes where residents stayed in their rooms all day and knew that this would be bad for my mum. As a result of the social interaction my mother has made friends and takes part in activities, which really helps her dementia. Her anxiety levels have reduced dramatically and she is generally much happier. It is now very evident that any occasional unhappiness/problems are all dementia related.

My brother is partially disabled and needs assistance with washing and general care and his food needs to be soft. The care of the staff to my brother is kind, understanding and patient. They also have a lovely rapport with my brother. The facilities are safe, secure and clean and the food is excellent.
I would highly recommend.

My mother receives very good care from the staff. They are patient and considerate at all times. The care home is trying very hard to make improvements. They seem to be doing well with this. My mother is treated with dignity even though she can be quite challenging at times.

My Aunty/Godmother moved into this home eighteen months ago when she could no longer cope physically at home, although mentally she was excellent. She particularly loved the tranquillity, beautiful garden and amazing views.
She would sit in the garden with her little artist's sketch pad and watercolours
and the staff always inspired her to do this and this made her extremely happy.
The care she received from the staff was second to none. It is because of this I wish to say a big thank you to the staff. Extremely professional service and quality care which I can recommend. THANK YOU.
