I wish to emphasise the amazing dedication, kindness and professionalism of Hungerford House staff was indeed second to none.
I can only hope if personally, I should ever require to be looked after in my later life that it would be Hungerford House at Corsham, Wiltshire would have a place available
for me.

A superior (in every sense), happy, temporary way to spend time being cared for by professional carers. I can find nothing to describe my visits that would not be appreciative and happy to recall. Wonderful!

We have always been extremely pleased with the welcoming, friendly atmosphere and the care of all the staff towards our Grandma when we visit. They are excellent at communicating with us over all aspects of Grandma's health and care. When there was an incident involving Grandma, we were telephoned immediately
and were part of the follow-up process. The main thing is Grandma is happy and in her words "It's more like a holiday home and the girls (carers) are all brilliant". Thank you Hungerford House.

My father has been living at Hungerford House for 17 months. He is very contented and often says that he is happy. The staff always greet him as they pass by and he tells me that everyone is unfailingly kind to him.
He feels respected and well cared for. Because my father is 98 years old, he does not
need much stimulation but I think it would be good if staff had time to actually sit and talk with residents for a few minutes. Dad would enjoy that more than 'activities'.
From a relatives point of view, I have always found all the staff friendly, cheerful and helpful and I am pleased I chose Hungerford House for Dad.

My father passed away last week at Hungerford House, after a residency of some 8 years. He was always very happy at the home and was always kept clean and tidy whilst he was there. He enjoyed his food during his stay and joined in the activities he was able to. He was treated with dignity on the day
he died and his family is very grateful to the home.

Overall we are happy with Mum's care. The staff are pleasant and cheerful, they are attentive to her and chat. We are aware of Mum's anxiety and needs help with her personal needs and mobility. Occasionally we worry about staffing issues. (Have you got enough staff and are they happy).
Staff seem to
work quite a bit on their own in Mum's unit and can be run off their feet.
Any issues I raise concerning Mum are acted upon.
Housekeeping staff and handyman are cheerful and chatty.

The staff are all very friendly, helpful and caring to both the visitors and residents. They show the utmost respect to the residents and assist them whenever they can. They take the time to stay with them if they are upset or anxious and chat to them to make them feel valued. The meals are all of a
high quality and well presented. The cleanliness of the home is also second to none. Spotless and fresh with no horrible smells!! Well done everyone!

My father has dementia and went into Hungerford House after a long spell in hospital following a hip fracture. We wanted him to be in a care home close to the family so we could visit him often. We are very happy with the care provided at Hungerford House. The home is bright and clean and my father
is well cared for. All the staff are lovely and treat my father with dignity. He has settled in very well.

Since my husband has been admitted to Hungerford House, the care he has received could not be improved upon. All the staff are so friendly, not only to my husband but also to myself, even when my husband was "kicking off". He could not be in better hands.

On several visits to my mother, I find the staff to be very welcoming and willing to answer any of my questions. They were very caring to my mother and actually kept her laughing. She told me she could not be better looked after and that she loved the staff. The home was very nicely decorated and very
clean, including my mother's bedroom. I was able to take her to the conservatory for a while where we were given tea and biscuits. I was told I could visit anytime. I was amazed at the facilities for the residents and just could find no fault.

From our initial visit (at a rather late inconvenient time) to our now regular visits, we have found all the carers friendly and helpful. Dad has settled better than we could have hoped for. The home is always clean and tidy and has a lovely atmosphere. Although Mum is struggling with the adjustment
everyone has been so sympathetic and caring towards her. The care given to Dad and all the residents whilst we are around is genuine and even during trying periods the carers show great levels of patience and understanding. We feel Dad is safe and secure within the home and know he will be cared for with dignity and patience.

Very friendly carers and staff. Some problem with other residents walking in and out of room and interfering with me. Food was good and plenty of it. My room was a bit small and no outlook. Just a tree. Carers were very good and kind. The only reason I left was to be nearer my family.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.300)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.300) out of 10 for Hungerford House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.667 for Hungerford House is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.667

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.633 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hungerford House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.6 = 0.833

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Gail joined the Trust in 2017 as part of the housekeeping and laundry team. Before the Trust, Gail worked on the MOD site in Corsham from 1987. She started by working as a cleaning operative 2 hours per day whilst her daughter was still at school, and as the years went on she went on several courses to work up to be coming a Cleaning Manager for a team of 35 staff.
