We contacted Kingston house, Calne after 2 local friends told us about how well their relatives had been treated whilst in their care. We had to arrange some emergency respite after another care home had let us down. From the initial phone call through to taking our Great Aunt of 102 years in, the process
was flawless. All the staff have welcomed her and made her feel at home, in a time that is very confusing for her. We needed a care home desperately and they stepped up. Thank you for your good work and for keeping our Great Aunty safe.

Very pleased with the care Mum has been receiving. She came to Kingston House on the day of lockdown so we have been unable to visit her properly. However, the care staff have gone out of their way to make Mum feel comfortable and at home and their kindness to us has been lovely. Mum is very happy there.

Since Lockdown, Kingston House has done their utmost to accommodate visits for families of residents. I am very grateful for all they have done for my Mum over the last 7 years and continue to provide the best care and compassion she could ever need. I am so fortunate to still do window visits and be
able to see my Mum on a weekly basis. This would not be possible if it wasn't for the carers who always get Mum ready for me on a weekly basis, keeping her wrapped up in the living room while I stand outside following the Covid restrictions.

My aunt has been a resident in Kingston House since August 2020 and her settling in period went well despite having to quarantine initially. All staff have been very accommodating when I telephoned or visited whether officially as an attorney or personally. We have visited our aunt in the garden area
over the time she has been there and the staff have offered us facilities for Zoom calls. My aunt has taken part in activities at the home including bingo. She seems well and settled. When she has needed GP/hospital care, the home has arranged it for her. I am pleased with the care she has been given. Thank you.

Very happy with the service, my mum has good care taken of her and any queries or questions I have are dealt with quickly. Due to Covid, I have not seen Mum's room or any of the facilities but she seems very comfortable. My answers to the following questions are based on a general impression due to
not entering the building.
The only negative comment I have is that there seems to be a slight lack of communication between staff when it comes to asking me for the cat's needs (worming tablets, litter etc), I have had calls from various staff members asking me to provide worming tablets which I sent in 2 weeks before, perhaps a list could be made and written on when the phone call to me had been made?

In general, my mother's care has been very good. do feel they could di with more staff on duty at times. I would like to pay tribute to all the staff during this difficult time of the coronavirus. Considering the pressure and demands I feel they have been excellent. Mum loves the food she says it is
a very high standard.

This has been a difficult time but I can only praise the staff and management for the care they have given to my mother during the lockdown. The management has taken steps to try to keep the virus out by locking down early. Unfortunately, there were some deaths but I believe that it could have been
a whole lot worse. We are now having garden visits which are very welcome. I would certainly recommend Kingston House as a place of extremely caring staff who go out of their way to provide a homely atmosphere for our loved ones.

My mother really feels at home at Kingston House where she is very well looked after and is treated with respect by all the staff. She loves her room, the food and the grounds. She is very fond of the staff who treat her so kindly. She has many friends amongst the other residents. Despite her dementia,
she enjoys a reall quality of life which she would not have if she lived on her own. Family members are able to visit freely and are never made to feel unwelcome. We are most grateful to the staff. Thank you to all at Kingston House.

Mum moved in during June 2018 and my family are very impressed with the care and compassion shown to her. All the staff are friendly and helpful and respond quickly to Mum's needs.
The quality of the meals is very high. Drinks and snacks are frequent.
In terms of administration, it has all been very
straightforward and they have been very patient in waiting for funding to come through.
A small, homely care home which we are very pleased with.

I find Kingston House to be a well run, friendly, clean and comfortable home. The food is excellent, the staff are kindly and there are plenty of activities in which we can participate in. The homes mini-bus goes out most days visiting various, local clubs, fete's, tea dances and garden centres. We
regularly have entertainers visit the home which adds to the quality of life you can experienc3e at Kingstone House.

From the start, everyone has been most helpful and welcoming. Kingston House is in lovely village surroundings and this is reflected in the way the interior is kept.
My mother is now registered blind and I think that the whole atmosphere of calm and caring is felt by her.
The only one problem is sometimes
maybe there is some 'understaffing' when things like getting her dressed are left a long time, or answering the call button (she has had to learn to wait a little bit!) One other problem is the lack of availability of getting to see the doctor; re mother's ear, very important to blind people.

My mother lived in the dementia unit, Kingston House, for the last three years of her life.
The care was exemplary - nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
My mother was treated with love and care - all aspects of her care were excellent.
My mother enjoyed the activities both within and outside
the home - she enjoyed regular trips out on the minibus to coffee shops, the Memory Lane club locally etc.
Communication with family was always excellent.
I recommend Kingston House without reservation.
It is the best care home ever!

My father, who has dementia, has been a resident in Lavender Lodge for 16 months. During that time he has been well cared for both physically and emotionally. He is treated with dignity and respect. He has been encouraged to participate in a range of activities in the home as well as being taken
out on trips in the minibus most weeks.


I have also found the staff approachable and willing to discuss any questions that I have concerning Dad.

I work at a primary school and have been visiting the residents of Kingston house for 4 years. We were invited to join the residents for the WW2 2014 celebrations and we have been visiting ever since. My dance club attended all the tea dances at Kingston House, the children love entertaining the old
folk. The residents always join in, even if it is only waist up with actions! The residents also come to school to join in with our Harvest, Easter and Christmas celebrations as well as coming to watch our Y6 leavers' production every July. I also visit Kingston House as I have made many friends over there. Whenever I visit the residents, there is always a lovely atmosphere and I am always made welcome by the staff, there is always a cup of tea on hand. I have booked my place for when I am older!

Catherine Beswick

Job Title: Home Manager

Hi, I’m Catherine Beswick, and I’ve been the manager at Kingston House since 2020. I’ve actually been here since 2004 and have had many different roles over the years.
I started as a Kitchen Assistant, and after a while, I was asked to join the care team. I really enjoyed it and decided this was where I wanted to build my career. From there, I moved into roles like Care Assistant, Relief Senior Carer, Dementia Unit Leader, Care Supervisor, Deputy Manager, and eventually Manager.


My favourite role was definitely being the Dementia Unit Lead. Lavender Lodge, our dementia unit, was a new project for the home, and I loved being part of creating it from the ground up and working with the local healthcare team.


What I really love about Kingston House is how homely and cosy it feels. We have 43 bedrooms, but it still feels intimate, with a real sense of community. We always want residents to feel at home and be involved in decisions. For example, when we redecorated the dining room, we let residents pick the paint colours, and they loved being part of the process!


We also aim for everyone, who wishes to, can continue with the hobbies they loved before moving in. One resident loves swimming, so we arranged weekly trips to the local pool for him.
At Kingston House, everyone is made to feel welcome and valued. This is part of what makes Greensleeves Care so special. As a not-for-profit, everything we do is focused on making sure our residents get the best care possible.
