In the relatively short time (8 weeks) my husband has been in Lavender House I have been impressed with the care and dignity that he has received. He has settled in well.

My mother has lived at Kingston House for almost 4 years. Mum is well cared for and treated with dignity and as a precious individual. She is often enjoying a laugh with residents and staff. She is happy, which is of paramount importance for our family. Staff are always pleasant and responsive.


Mum has friends at home and enjoys spending time with other residents. She can take part in a range of activities if she wishes to. She really enjoys her food.


We have recommended this home to others. We looked at several ourselves before choosing Kingston House due to its location, standard of care, staff and generally homely and welcoming atmosphere.


Mum says she is very happy and satisfied with the care given.

My wife has been at Kingston House since July 2015. She is disabled and has memory problems. The home is welcoming and tastefully furnished. It is warm and friendly and the staff are caring and well trained. She has settled well and is encouraged to be involved in activities and mix with able bodied
residents.

Catherine Beswick

Job Title: Home Manager

Hi, I’m Catherine Beswick, and I’ve been the manager at Kingston House since 2020. I’ve actually been here since 2004 and have had many different roles over the years.
I started as a Kitchen Assistant, and after a while, I was asked to join the care team. I really enjoyed it and decided this was where I wanted to build my career. From there, I moved into roles like Care Assistant, Relief Senior Carer, Dementia Unit Leader, Care Supervisor, Deputy Manager, and eventually Manager.


My favourite role was definitely being the Dementia Unit Lead. Lavender Lodge, our dementia unit, was a new project for the home, and I loved being part of creating it from the ground up and working with the local healthcare team.


What I really love about Kingston House is how homely and cosy it feels. We have 43 bedrooms, but it still feels intimate, with a real sense of community. We always want residents to feel at home and be involved in decisions. For example, when we redecorated the dining room, we let residents pick the paint colours, and they loved being part of the process!


We also aim for everyone, who wishes to, can continue with the hobbies they loved before moving in. One resident loves swimming, so we arranged weekly trips to the local pool for him.
At Kingston House, everyone is made to feel welcome and valued. This is part of what makes Greensleeves Care so special. As a not-for-profit, everything we do is focused on making sure our residents get the best care possible.
