Opened in Summer 2021, Middlefields House offers excellent care and support to 48 people, living in four households of 12. Each household feels like a regular family home, with a lounge and dining area, as well as a second lounge.

Middlefields House offers high quality, personalised care, including respite care to those who need it and care for those at the end of their lives. Care for those living with dementia is also available.

All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and are fully furnished, although each resident is encouraged to personalise their room with their own belongings. As well as each household lounge and dining room, there are communal spaces for the whole home, including a winter garden.

Middlefields House is run by a General Manager and a Registered Care Manager. They oversee a team of dedicated and trained carers, a facilities team, a housekeeping team, and a catering team. Middlefields House has an active social life with a programme of in-house and external activities. Residents will be supported to take part as and when they wish, or enjoy quite time if preferred.

The team supports the spiritual lives of the residents through regular devotions, and times of prayer and singing together. They are supported by local churches and Christians, encouraging those of the Christian faith in their spiritual journey.

Where to start... what a wonderful place. First impressions count for so much. Upon walking into this wonderful environment and the friendliness and smiling faces of all the staff, you know straight away that it's going to be good.
The opportunities presented to all residents to get involved with a
full and varied programme of activities is astounding. The mix of professional support, volunteers, residents and families leads to a true family atmosphere in Middlefields House.
All staff demonstrate a caring, compassionate nature towards all the residents. I am in total awe of their professionalism and caring nature at all times.
The peace of mind provided by Dad's stay in Middlefields gives my brothers and I complete confidence that he is in safe hands in his later years.
I would highly recommend Middlefields to anyone considering a care home for an aged relative. I am sure that you won't be disappointed.

Middlefields House is currently looking after my mum.
She came straight to Middlefields from hospital and has received excellent care from the whole household team she lives with. All the staff really seem to know my mum and make sure they spend quality time with her as well as taking care of all
her physical needs.
As well as the household staff, all the staff at reception are friendly and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble.
I feel very lucky that Mum is being cared for in such a warm, friendly, caring environment.

My mum is very happy in Middlefields care. Staff have taken time to get to know her and to understand both her physical needs but also her personality. She is encouraged and supported to take part in the activities arranged for residents. Middlefields provides a lovely environment for Mum to be looked
after. It's clean and bright, and the furnishings are comfortable and well-maintained. Her room is homely, and the ensuite wet room is really beneficial for them. Above all, the staff at Middlefields care about the residents and want the best for them.

Middlefields House is a care home that has exceeded all my expectations. From the moment my mum arrived, it was evident this was a place where compassion and care were of the utmost importance.
The staff are not only highly professional but also incredibly caring and gentle with all the residents.
They go above and beyond to ensure that each individual feels safe, comfortable and valued. The level of attentiveness and kindness displayed by the staff is wonderful.
The amenities and activities provided are exceptional. From exercise programs to social events, residents are offered a range of engaging and stimulating activities. The commitment to promoting mental and physical well-being is truly commendable.
Knowing that Mum is being looked after by such a professional, caring team gives me peace of mind. I am grateful for the outstanding care provided by Middlefields House and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a loving and supportive environment for their loved ones.

Very caring, homely feel. Every member of staff is so kind, caring and helpful to dad and all the family. The home has a unique layout of four houses of twelve residents so it doesn't feel institutional or like a hospital. We can't thank or recommend the team at Middlefield House enough.

This is a lovely new care home. It has been very thoughtfully planned. The family member's rooms are nice and roomy with a wet room. All the furnishings look great. The garden is very well laid out and ideal for a wheelchair.
The Manager and care staff are all nice and friendly and the care is exceptional.

My grandmother has been with you just a few months and considering her difficulties, has settled in very well. She is very well looked after, all the staff are friendly and take time with her and her family. Communication between the staff and with our family is fantastic.

Very grateful my husband can be looked after in such a bright, light, clean home. Staff are very welcoming, cheerful, caring and safety conscious. He loves the Christian presence, the services, devotions and opportunities for worship. He likes the food and the fresh air in the garden.
The COVID restrictions
were stressful for me as a visiting relative, but now I am allowed to join in which is a great improvement.
He particularly enjoys the Men’s Discussion Group, and the company of the other men. Christmas and jubilee celebrations were excellent. Thank you all.

My father has been in Middlefields for 8 months now. It was a challenging transition when he moved from home where my mother was unable to continue caring for him. The staff have helped hugely with the transition and he is now settled and very comfortable at Middlefields. The staff from management to
the reception team and carers are very helpful, thoughtful and supportive. There were initial challenges with the covid restrictions but these have been managed well and we were kept informed throughout.
My father particularly appreciates the Christian support and input.
Overall it is a wonderful, welcoming and friendly care home.

Mum has had really good care at Middlefields. The staff are loving and friendly.

My mum has fairly advanced Alzheimer's and had to move into Middlefields in February 2022 when my dad was no longer able to care for her, supported by my brother and I who live at a distance. The change was very hard for Mum and ultimately led to a very stressful few months juggling COVID-related issues,
health changes, distressing pacing, aggression and more. The staff were wonderful, very patient, seeking advice and making adjustments to Mum's care when things didn't work. We have seen genuine love from the staff to my mum and we are convinced Mum is in safe hands. I heartily recommend Middlesfields, particularly for Christian residents.

It's obviously been a very challenging time for care homes and residents during the pandemic. I have been pleased with the care attention my father has received during this time. I am very grateful to all the staff and all what they do for the residents especially as family visits have been so restricted.

My wife has been a resident at Middlefields House since the middle of January 2022. My wife has been living with dementia for the past 2 years and more. The facilities and staff at Middlefields House are exceptional. The idea of 4 separate households, with a maximum of 12 residents in each household
is an excellent design concept and provides for a homely and cosy environment. The friendly and caring staff further enhance this homely feeling. I visit my wife every afternoon and am always made to feel welcome by the reception team, Management, carers and all members of staff alike. Overall, a wonderful experience for both myself and my wife. Many thanks to one and all.

Our Mum has been in Leonora Home for nearly two years and is settled, and well looked after. The staff are very caring and attentive, and we could not wish for better care for her, especially during the last months of COVID-19 where they have worked hard to keep the residents well and occupied in spite

Mum has been a resident at Leonora Home for the last five months. It’s been a difficult time because of the restrictions on visiting because of the coronavirus. However, we are very proud of the Home that they have managed to keep the home free of Covid-19 so far.
Mum has always said that if she needed
care she wanted to go to a Pilgrim Homes care home so that she can have the company of like-minded Christians. She seems to have settled in well there. Hopefully when the situation eases we can visit inside and meet her friends and fellow residents.
The staff are always very attentive to her needs and give us a quick call to keep us updated on any news or check with us if there are any decisions to be made. We really feel that we can trust the team who look after her and feel she is in good hands.
I do remember when we first visited all the residents told us how good the food was! Although as we haven’t yet been able to visit inside we haven’t had a chance to check it out yet!

My mother has been in one of the flats at Leonora Home for nearly 15 years and has been very happy there. Over those years she has been encouraged to be involved as much as possible in the life of the home. As her health has deteriorated the staff of the home have done many things to help her in her
changing situation and have often gone beyond the call of duty. She has experienced loving care in so many ways in the home.

There is an overall friendly and caring community and the staff work well with the limited accommodation at Leonora Home. The Christian ethic is vital for the atmosphere of the home as this is what the residents are used to and it is particularly valuable for those with dementia.

The care provided to my mother at Leonora Home has been second to none. In particular, the care workers have made mum and all my visiting family feel very welcome.
Care is provided in a respectful and dignified way, and I feel totally happy mum is being looked after 24 hours a day.

Rali

Rali Ivanova

Job Title: Registered Care Manager

Joined: 2009

Rali was born in a small town in Bulgaria near the Black Sea. After school, she qualified as a dental technician and then undertook further study to become a nurse.


Rali came to the UK in 2002 and took on the position of a care assistant in Devizes. In 2009 she joined the Pilgrims’ Friend Society at Leonora Home (now closed) as a care team leader. In 2019 she completed a diploma in Health & Social Care. When Middlefields House opened in August 2021 she was promoted to Deputy Manager and then to Registered Care Manager.


Rali has two children, a daughter and a son. She became a Christian as a teenager in Bulgaria and helped with Sunday School with her husband (at that time only a friend), organising activities and teaching the Bible to children who were living in poorer communities.


Sarah

Sarah Stockinger

Job Title: Business Manager

Joined: 2024

Sarah's experiences within the education and financial sectors, in positions such as business manager, project manager, operational administrator, and training and competency manager, have given her a deep understanding of valuing and investing in people but guided by godly principles. Having devoted the past seven years to caring for her parents before their recent passing due to dementia, she views it as an honour to utilise her skills to support and develop the team while contributing to the growth of the business at Middlefield.


She is a wife and a mother of two adult children.


Friedericke

Friedericke Hamilton

Job Title: General Manager

Joined: 2022

Friederike joined Pilgrims' Friend Society in February 2022 after 35 years in the health service working as a nurse, midwife and health visitor. Friederike is an Operations Manager and also leads the organisation's work in the provision of excellent care and dementia care (The Way We Care). Friederike works with The Way We Care Leads in the homes to support all staff to deliver high standards of care and continually improve practice. Friederike supports staff in delivering high-quality dementia care by providing training and advice.


Friederike is married to Nigel and they have 2 grown-up sons and a dog. She enjoys walking and gardening.


Friederike and Nigel worship at Widcombe Baptist Church in Bath where they are also on the children’s team and home group leaders.
