Granny can be very awkward and the home managed her very well. They are always pleased to see us and treat us as part of the team. I am grateful for their care for her.

The family atmosphere of the house is what speaks to us and my mum. It's always very welcoming, with lots of atmosphere, kindness, and attention.
The home is interesting and the garden area is also appealing.
Good standards of care, open communication, and support at all times.

Our mother was only in the home for 2 weeks. She was very poorly, but the home did everything to try to improve her illness, they treated her with dignity, allowing choice and preventing further deterioration, wherever possible. they allowed choice and tried to prepare us all for possible outcomes.
They were constantly observing, providing support and reassuring when things were very difficult and nearing the end of life.

The care given by the staff was exceptional and very caring. It was like home from home. The staff were also very kind to all members of the family.

Sadly my (step) dad passed away at the end of September but his final 6 months were spent in the care of the team at Longbridge Deverill House. The whole care team were extremely caring and patient and on the occasions when he was feeling cheeky, his sense of humour and character was always encouraged
and I believe enjoyed.
Following his death, staff expressed their thanks to my mum and I for allowing them the privilege of looking after him on our behalf. I cannot tell you how much these simple words comforted us both.
We will always have a special place in our hearts for the care team at Longbridge Deverill Nursing Home.

Mum has thrived since she came here, it feels like having her back again. The staff treat her with care and kindness and keep me up to date with any concerns.
The food is excellent. They do a great range of activities to keep the residents involved.
The grounds are lovely and mum loves going out in
them. The building is a bit shabby but this doesn't detract from how nice it is here.

My husband was a resident at Longbridge Deverill Nursing Home in Warminster, Wiltshire. He was in a single room, he could not stand or walk and had to be moved to sit in a chair by the use of a hoist. He was very ill and needed a lot of nursing care which was carried out exceptionally well in every
way. Staff were so kind to him and met all his needs so well. He often remarked at their standard of care and social input being so great from seniors and junior staff. My husband passed away in their care and in this time of loss, it is a comfort to us that he was so well cared for.

I came to have respite care after a foot operation and was immediately impressed by the friendliness and caring attitude of the staff.
There was a feeling of 'tender loving care' (TLC) all through the day and this produced a lovely feeling of security and of being part of a family.

Our mother spent 3.5 years at Longbridge Deverill. During this time, she was cared for with respect and dignity. Staff during this time have remained largely unchanged which allowed the whole team to get to know Mummy so well. When it became necessary to move my mother to a different wing (due to the
increasing demands that her dementia brought) this was done quickly and smoothly.
As a family, we have celebrated many happy occasions at Longbridge Deverill: birthdays, wedding anniversaries, Christmas, Easter etc. It was a real home. Her room was comfortable and clean, the activities provided enjoyable (we loved Holy Communion and singing!) Mummy was always beautifully clean and cared for without one pressure sore over the years, a remarkable achievement as she was so sedentary. The garden was wonderful and Mummy got real pleasure from being able to sit outside. We feel so fortunate to have found this wonderful nursing home which made Mummy's last years so bearable. Thank you.

This care home is amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff have endless patience. Mum is well cared for 24/7 and we can sleep at night knowing she is safe and loved.
There are lots of activities, mum sadly does not take part in many but the staff do try to get mum to attend. The food is excellent
and mum is kept clean and smelling fresh at all times. Well done and thank you.

Our mother had been at the care home for about three years. The staff seemed to quickly get to know her and she settled in quickly considering the change of situation from living on her own with visiting carers, to becoming a resident with various characters. The staff were consistent, friendly and
helpful. We visit 2-3 times a week and also take mum out at various times (usually visited mid morning and mid afternoon but sometimes later) Lovely to be able to visit at any time of the day or night. Staff seemed to know when there may be problems and guided the resident to a quieter area. Mum thoroughly enjoyed the activities (she wasn't very mobile) and one to ones with staff. She had a choice of when to get up and go to bed, where to be (own room, lounge, library) old building so sometimes problems, lovely grounds.
We were happy mums last years were made comfortable and carefree and she was able to be near us.

My father was admitted to Longbridge Deverill House and Nursing Home for respite and rehab after an acute hospital admission. He had debilitating Parkinson's and we had hoped to move him home with live-in care but it became obvious this would not be feasible. The care we experienced from all the staff
was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Visitors have all given us positive feedback including his hairdresser who was able to use the salon and his physio who worked closely with the team. Once he decided to stay, we were encouraged to bring in familiar items from home. At Christmas when we planned a big family gathering we were able to use one of the lounges and this is a very happy memory for us all. As a retired nurse myself, I was impressed with how proactive all the staff were- whenever I made a suggestion they were already ahead of me. Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated but the care he and we received was compassionate at all times. Everyone at Longbridge Deverill House and Nursing Home made his "last lap" the very best it could have been.

I have very mixed feelings.
I was pleased how the manager came across and was impressed on our visit a week later with the cosy, homely feeling the home offered. My father who suffered from dementia was admitted a week later.
Dad always seemed happy, well fed and cared for on each visit and the staff
we met were very pleasant. However, one particular visit we were looking for a member of staff to let us out and found one asleep on a settee in the corridor, not very professional.
Unfortunately dad passed away in hospital and although we gave 2 days notice to collect his belongings (which were not packed) we discovered his bed unmade, a dirty cups, a plate and a pair of underpants in his room as well as personal belongings missing, for which I had to argue to have these posted on. Not once since has the home made any contact offering condolences or words of kindness which has upset my mum and made her think twice about dads care and is it foremost a businesses venture. A sad end.

I was deeply saddened to read your comments and concerns that were published on 11th January 2018 and would like the opportunity to respond to you personally.


We as a professional, caring service provision often care and support individuals' with very high complex dementia needs, strive to promote this care and support within a friendly and homely environment.


I, and my senior members of staff encourage staff to sit with each resident throughout the day and in doing so hope to encourage a sense of belonging and inclusion that we feel when we are in our own homes. I also promote and encourage staff to identify when residents require their own personal space because, not everyone likes or are used to group living situations and as you can appreciate it can be difficult for residents to settle particularly, if they have been diagnosed with a dementia.


There are times when residents do 'potter' into other residents bedrooms, leaving or taking bits and pieces and on the occasion you wrote about 'we' should have locked the door and for not doing so please accept not only my apologies but the apologies of my staff.


Staff are requested to search without infringing on the rights of other residents' as soon as it has been identified that belongings have unintentionally gone missing by having been taken by another resident, and when found these belongings are returned to the relevant resident or family.


With regards to very sad occasions which we feel, when a resident or family member passes away, we have found on experience that relatives wish to pack and keep their loved ones personal belongings themselves so I must apologise on this occasion we were incorrect. The last thing we would wish to do is to create further sadness and feelings of loss and bereavement at this most sensitive time.

Longbridge Deverill House and Nursing Home is a true jewel in the crown and more importantly a total savior. After three short stays in local homes, my mother experienced poor treatment you need to know this when you take a placement! We then found Longbridge Deverill House where we were able to place
mum, briefly a purpose-built clean beyond belief. Totally professional establishment with super, warm on suite rooms with super food. The staff were amazing, very well qualified and cared! The communication alone good and her general care was excellent. As a family, we would recommend without question of risk it's just the best you will find.

My mum who has dementia has stayed at Longbridge Deverill House for day care and respite care over the last 2 years .
The care at this home is by far the best we have come across. The staff greet mum with love and make her instantly feel at home.
The home is run by everyone, what I mean by that is
the staff and the residents feel able to talk to the management, in turn making sure everyone is happy at work and in their own home.
When I leave my mum to go and charge my batteries. I leave her with such a lovely bunch of careers who WILL look after her in every way and who ARE given the time to care for all the ladies and gentlemen at Longbridge.
It's a lovely place. It's not easy to have to decide someone's care for them, and you just want to do your best.
Longbridge is a good home, ok not a new building but a warm loving home and the people inside make it that.

From the first enquiry, I was impressed by the staff at Longbridge Deverill House whose kindness and empathy made a difficult decision much easier. The house itself feels more like a real home than a residential home. That my relative settling in so easily has been a great relief, as has her enjoyment
and approval of the food (she is very discerning!). Being able to visit at any time, and with our dog, is a blessing. We enjoy quality time together. My relative arrived with shaken confidence following a fall and a stay in the hospital, but the kind and enabling help from all the staff has restored that confidence resulting in much-improved mobility.
All the things that proved difficult at home, even with a live-in carer, are no longer worries. That I can discuss my relative's well-being and progress at any time with the Manager or members of staff is so reassuring. The staff are so friendly and treat the residents with such respect. I look forward to visiting!

My father was a resident here for about 16 months after a long and distressing stay in a hospital. His experience (and mine) at Longbridge Deverill House and Nursing Home couldn't have been more of a contrast. The home is a lovely environment; it's clean and well-run and the standard of nursing care
is excellent. The chef and staff went above and beyond to prepare menus that would appeal to dad. But the best quality of this home is what I can only call a 'culture of kindness'. All the staff are caring, patient and treat residents as adults entitled to dignity and compassion. They made my dad's last year not only comfortable and reassuring but also gave him a sense of having a home. I would recommend Longbridge Deverill House and Nursing Home without reservation.

Beth is a Dementia Champion here at Longbridge Deverill and has undergone enhanced training in dementia care, mental capacity and DoLs (deprivation of liberty safeguarding). Beth’s role ensures she is advocating for individuals to ensure their best interests are upheld and individuals with dementia are supported to lead fulfilled lives. Beth is involved in auditing processes to improve our dementia service and supports our care team and family members regarding issues relating to dementia care and services provided to older people.


‘I started working at LDNH in Dec 2020 as a care assistant, this was my first job in the care sector and I can definitely say I have found my passion. I have been lucky enough to progress within my career completing my Level 3 NVQ in Adult care and I am currently the Unit Lead on the Marquess suite, alongside completing my Level 5 in Management. I have grown as a person in confidence as well as gained a lot of knowledge and experience since I started working here. We have an amazing management team who are always there to support and guide us. All the staff here at LDNH are amazing and are continuously striving to be the best, we have a lovely atmosphere here and we all really care for the residents, we treat them as we would treat our own grandparents’.

India has worked in health and social care for 11 years and has loved every minute of it. She has found what she loves to do and has been lucky enough to progress in her career to a senior role. India is also being supported to complete her NVQ 5 in leadership and management.
