Located in Westbury, Wiltshire, Watersmead is a well-established home which offers a relaxed, comfortable environment for up to 50 residents.

All on one level, this accessible home offers a large communal dining room, two lounges, a children’s play area, a residents’ kitchenette and extensive, attractive gardens. The large fishpond courtyard is surrounded by the home with some of the bedrooms and both lounges facing onto this tranquil area.
Residents can relax on the veranda in the summer and enjoy the peaceful setting.

The team at Watersmead is striving to become the hub of its community. With a regular plan of activities and an ever-developing schedule of community engagement, the home offers a whole variety of exciting and entertaining activities which stimulate its residents and welcomes local people, organisations and businesses to get involved. Current activities include:

The home also benefits from an excellent kitchen team who are fully committed to creating innovative and tasty dining experiences for residents, including ‘fakeaway’ theme nights which bring a flavour of the exotic to the home. Homemade cakes and biscuits are always on offer and all menus are created from scratch using seasonal, nutritious produce.

Watersmead is staffed by an experienced and friendly team who are on hand 24 hours a day to care for residents. With no restrictions on visiting, residents’ families and friends can see loved ones at a time that suits them and are always welcome to join them for a meal which creates a true family feeling.

    physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,

    During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
    and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
    services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
    will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
    services at the time you request them.
    They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
    however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
    services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
    be paid for by yourself.

My husband is cared for very well. and is very happy there. He is encouraged to take part in the activities (which he wouldn't do if he was not). He has a lovely warm room and has make on friends.
He appears happy, settled and I feel comforted to leave him there in the homes care. The whole atmosphere
makes it seem like a happy family.

My father has been a resident here for nearly two years. During this time he is regularly visited by me and other family members. I am very satisfied with the level of care which I serve as being to a constant high standard. My father is treated with genuine respect on every level. He is always clean,
well dressed and groomed. The staff are adaptable to his needs, assessing if he would prefer quiet time in his room or a more social/ busy environment of the lounge or dining area. I can leave my father confident that he is receiving excellent care. Also very good communication between all staff and family.

We find Watersmead a very friendly pleasant place. The staff do their very best to make mum as comfortable as possible and encourage her to take part in activities on offer and to join in mealtimes in the dining room. Overall a very caring place and we do not think we could have found anywhere better.

Alison

Alison Stenning

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2017

The residents at Watersmead are cared for by a committed team of over one hundred which includes support workers, catering, ancillary, maintenance and administrative staff. The home is led by Alison Stenning who is supported by an experienced team.


Sally

Sally Reynolds

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2008

Sally has been in the catering industry for 38 years and joined Watersmead 11 years ago, initially as a cook, before becoming Head Chef 4 years ago. Sally gained her 706/1 and 706/2 many years ago and she holds a wealth of other qualifications centring around the catering industry.


Sally runs the fantastic kitchen team and provides the residents with excellent meals as well as catering for all major events within the home. Sally was nominated for Wiltshire's 'Hospitality of the Year Award' twice and won on both occasions. Sally was also a regional winner in the Great British Care Awards and became a national finalist.


Her best memory of the home is when residents cooked a meal for her supported by the activity coordinator. It was lovely for her to sit with a few residents and enjoy the meal they had prepared.


In her spare time, Sally enjoys arts and crafts, gardening and growing her own vegetables. She also loves spending time with her family.


Teresa

Teresa Andrews

Job Title: Head Housekeeper

Joined: 2010

Teresa has been in her current role since 2010 having previously worked as a civil engineer. She worked in various roles in the evenings while she raised her family, and then joined the Trust as her children grew up.


Teresa says that interacting with residents is the best part of her job, and they really do make her day. Out of work, Teresa likes to spend time with her family and friends. She believes that working in care brings home how important family is.


Katie

Katie Cooper

Job Title: Activities Co-ordinator

Joined: 2023

Katie worked with the Trust for two years before taking a break and returning at the end of 2023. She has looked after adults with autism but returned to Watersmead to care for and take on the activities role.


Katie loves the personal side of her job and getting to know each individual, making people’s day, and making people smile. She is enjoying the opportunity to try exciting and engaging activities with residents.


Outside work, Katie loves to watch films and TV, and socialising with friends.


Biddy

Biddy Perkins

Job Title: Head of Care

Joined: 2019

Biddy has worked in care since 1999 and with the Trust since 2019. This is her second time with the Trust having previously worked at Fives Court before it closed. She worked with another care provider before returning to the Trust.


Biddy loves to create a nice environment for residents and ensure they receive the best care possible. She enjoys supporting colleagues to develop to their full potential.


In her spare time, Biddy loves to spend time with her family and enjoys a nice walk.


Nic

Nic Crow

Job Title: Admin Assistant

Joined: 2017

Nic has been with the Trust since 2017 having worked in various personnel and office support roles previously. She enjoys the variety in her work and likes the interaction with residents and their families. Nic says that with the feeling of family at Watersmead, it doesn’t feel like she’s coming to work.


When she’s not at work, Nic likes to go to the cinema, walk her dog, and socialise with friends and family.
