    physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
    medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
    During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
    and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
    services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
    will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
    services at the time you request them.
    They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
    however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
    services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
    be paid for by yourself.

I came to visit the home in December to see my friend. There was lots going on because of Christmas and everyone seemed very happy. The residents are well cared for and the staff were very pleasant. My friend always talks about how great everyone is and how they love living there.

Since moving in my Grandad has been very well looked after. He has plenty of choice, can walk as often as he likes and has lots of activities that he can be involved in. He is happy, well kept and safe. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who all work very hard to care for Grandad. Moving into
a care home was a very difficult option, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff for the continued love, care and support they provide Grandad. Thank you for making him feel at home and working so well with our family to make him as happy and comfortable as possible.

We always get a warm welcome. The staff are well informed about residents and communicate with visitors, even offering us drinks. The garden is well kept and provide interest for residents.

My friend has now been in Willowcroft for several months and I visit her regularly each week. I have always found the staff excellent - listening to and responding to the patient's needs. I have always felt very uplifted at the end of my visit as I know she is in a clean, safe and caring place.

My experience living in Willowcroft has been fantastic. The care I have received from all the staff is first class. Nothing is too much trouble they will help you all the time and the patience the staff have with the more disabled residents is second to none. I cannot thank them enough.

I have been very happy here at Willowcroft. All of the staff are so caring and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone. I had been very poorly before I came here and very unhappy but they soon put a smile on my face. I loved going in the garden and I liked talking to the other residents.

I visit Willowcroft once a week to see my mother. From what I've seen of the staff and conditions, I would say that the care home is satisfactory. I do not live in Salisbury. I live in Bristol. It was my brother's decision to place our mother there not mine. Overall mother seems happy and comfortable.
She is also getting the care she needs.

My good friend was accepted for temporary residence at the end of May 2018 from hospital. I have found the staff and care of the residents to be excellent and the home is generally light, bright and cheerful. Unfortunately, there is a lingering smell of urine evident on the 1st floor and my friend's
mattress is stained and has a lingering smell of past users! The mattress is in dire need of replacement as is the bed linen.

My connection with Willowcroft is to visit my wife's sister. Who has been there for 2-3 years now. From our observations on visiting Willowcroft are very caring to the people in their care. We have noticed that several functions and the occasional trips out are available for those able to do so. The
whole care home is very clean, tidy and a pleasant garden area for those who wish to sit outside.

I go to see my sister every week and staff are very welcoming to me.
I also go up when they have some entertainment evenings and I see how the ladies really enjoy themselves and enter into the spirit.

She is safe, secure, warm and well cared for.
The staff are truly dedicated, cheerful and always happy to help in any way.

Cleanliness is good and there is no odour, which is rare. People are mostly asleep in their chairs but the alert ones do have some occupations available to them. The staff are polite and patient but slightly too few, especially on Sundays (I visit on various days).
The provision of sitting rooms on
each floor of bedrooms is very nice for those who wish/need to remain near their room/the toilet, but the rooms are not particularly personalised - I have only seen one, I must add. Family photos and perhaps a few ornaments from the previous 80+ years of life help people to feel alive and connected, rather than in the queue for the grave - and on that note, the mood there is happy and positive, unlike many others I've seen.

I can confirm that staffing levels for our care team are the same seven days a week, which is the same for our the kitchen and housekeeping teams. In terms of personalisation, residents are encouraged to bring in their own pictures and ornaments to make their rooms feel more homely. I was met by a young member of the care staff who was very smart and polite and I was given clear instruction as to how to get my friends room. The room was decently furnished but would have benefitted from some artwork on the bare walls. On leaving, I noticed a good number of residents looking rather
bored in the communal areas whilst 3/4 staff were chatting and laughing in the office. I was surprised as surely some stimulation and company for the residents should have been a priority. This was downstairs. The entrance was welcoming.

In terms of your comment regarding the décor of the bedroom, it is our practice to encourage residents to personalise their rooms as they would like, with pictures and even small items of furniture. In this case, your friend’s family did bring along various personal possessions, including pictures but he himself decided he would prefer to leave the walls bare for the time being. Obviously, if that should change, we will be delighted to go along with his wishes and provide whatever assistance is required.
With regard to your second comment, please be reassured that our residents’ wellbeing is always our top priority, and team members interact and engage with them throughout the day in different ways. I have, however, shared your comment with my colleagues and appreciate you bringing this to my attention.

Carol

Carol Wootton

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2009

Carol joined the Trust in 2009 and has worked in the care sector for 17 years. Carol started working as a carer at the age of 17 after completing her work experience at the age of 14 in a care home. She enjoyed spending time with the elderly so much and really felt that she could help by making a difference in people’s lives.


Carol has a Level 3 in Effective Management, Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care; Adults Residential Management and in her spare time she likes reading, going to the gym and walking.


An interesting fact about Carol is that in 2017 she took part in a sensory challenge where she was blindfolded for 7 hours! Carol arranged this with support from the Wiltshire Blind Society and had the opportunity to talk on Wiltshire Sound radio. As part of this, she raised money for the resident's amenities fund and for Wiltshire Sound.


Sam

Sam Emm

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager

Joined: 2012

Sam is the Deputy Manager at Willowcroft and has worked for the Trust in various roles since 2012. Sam is an experienced Deputy Manager who has worked hard to support the team in moving over to an electronic care plan system. Sam is very passionate about the care of the residents and likes to make sure that all the residents are treated in a person-centred manner.


In Sam’s spare time, he likes to spend time with his family and enjoys socialising, exploring and playing games on his PlayStation 5.


Dea

Dea Burtt

Job Title: Care Leader

Joined: 2014

Dea first joined the Trust in July 2014 after working in domiciliary care for many years. Dea joined the care sector when she left school as she wanted to help people and has done this her whole working life. Dea is the medication lead at Willowcroft and works hard to ensure the residents get the best possible care.


In Dea’s spare she times she enjoys walking her dog and socialising with friends.


Beata

Beata Kohalmi

Job Title: Activity Co-Ordinator

Joined: 2015

Beata joined the Trust in 2015 and has worked in the care sector for 4 years. Beta started at Willowcroft as a housekeeper and then transferred to activities. Beata decided to join the care sector as she enjoyed spending time at the care home as a visitor prior to joining as an employee. When Beata has time off she works hard to raise funds for the care home and makes up activities at home for the residents to use.
In Beata’s spare time she takes care of her two daughters and takes them to many activities including Brownies, Gymnastics, Swimming and Cheerleading.


Andy

Andy

Job Title: Handyman

Joined: 2019

Andy joined the trust in February 2019. Prior to this Andy was a driver for u-drive and had many years’ experience working as a handy person in a hotel in Bournemouth. Andy decided to join the care sector as he had been looking for a job he could do for the rest of his career, he wanted to be helpful and work with his hands. Since joining the Trust Andy supports one of the residents with handy person duties around the home.


Andy, in his spare time, enjoys reading and watching documentaries on space and science.


Marie

Marie

Job Title: Care Leader

Joined: 2013

Marie has worked at Willowcroft for 7 years, she started as a carer and then progressed to her current role as care leader. Marie prior to this was a trainee hairdresser and decided to change careers as she wanted to make a difference. Marie is the homes nutrition and infection control lead and takes these roles very seriously. In Marie’s spare time she looks after her children and binge watches box sets with her husband.


Di

Di Vuki

Job Title: Chef

Joined: 2020

Di has worked at Willowcroft since 2020, starting as a carer, but moving to the chef role at the beginning of 2023. Di has a skilled background as a chef, with over 22 years’ experience, which includes working for the Fijian Parliament and the British Armed Forces.
In her spare time Di is completing a master’s degree in criminology.
