Since the first day my mum moved into Grove Hill, it was visible to all the care for each individual. Nothing is too much trouble. The care is taken to help make her feel settled and welcome on her first day still prevails on her sixth year. This home goes from strength to strength and moves forward,
fully supported by its staff, managers, residents and their families. While at work I have peace of mind, as I know mum will be safe and cared for with no hesitation. What more can I ask for?

This home has such a family feel. The staff are second to none. Nothing is too much trouble for either family or carer. For an example, they held an anniversary party for my in-laws.

We are really pleased with the change in our Dad. He is being kept much cleaner. He is getting the one to one care he needs. The staff are very polite and friendly. They are very patient and caring towards Dad and the home is very clean since coming on 17th October 2016 from a previous home.

Thanks for the positive review . I will pass this on to the team here

My mum has been a resident at Grove Hill Care Home for a number of years now during all this time the standard of care and attention provided by the staff has remained excellent. Although my mum has dementia, I can tell by her facial expressions and body language that she feels happy and relaxed. All
the residents there are treated like well cared for and loved family members by the staff. They are mentally stimulated by the activities and games and also receive plenty of food, snacks and drinks throughout the day. I feel confident and have great peace of mind leaving my mum in the care of the management and staff of Grove Hill Care Home.

Grove Hill has been part of my life for well over twenty years, as my mother used to work as a carer at the home. When my mother's health deteriorated, she wanted to go into Grove Hill as she knew that she would be cared for properly.
Grove Hill is a fantastic place to visit relatives and friends.
The staff are excellent in dealing with different situations and spending quality time with individual residents, nobody is forgotten. The management team are excellent and run a 5-star operation.
There are always different events happening to keep the residents engaged.

Thanks Philip for your most kind review, I will pass this it to the staff team. Your Mum was a fantastic caring employee when she worked at grove hill and it's a privilege for the home to care for her now. Several long term employees who worked with your mother are still employed, we have lovely chats together with your mum about old times , sometimes your mum takes the " Mickey" out of the " boss" it's great fun having the banter with her , love her so much. Just had the CQC draft report through after the recent inspection and they've awarded good on all 5 headings with good overall ( waiting for it to be published on their Internet site.)At last the CQC recognizes the uniqueness wit love at Grove Hill although they still required all the pieces of paper to be exacting.

My mother has been here for approximately 6-7 years now and has always been happy, content and had an affectionate relationship with all the staff and have myself also found very informative and helpful also.
I've always been greeted, welcomed and offered refreshments or lunch which I've always found
good and adequate. My mother is checked on regularly as she prefers to stay in her room, she is always attended to promptly if she has to call. Although she is fully funded, I would suggest overall it is very good value for money.

My mum moved into Grove Hill 6 years ago. She was a very poorly lady, having come straight from the hospital having broken her hip due to a fall while "wandering" around where she lived. Her weight had dropped so much we really didn't expect a good outcome, but the home were wonderful. They looked after
her so well, she put on weight and became really well. Mum wasn't an easy person to cope with when she first arrived. Dementia has made her difficult but they were so good with her. She settled in eventually and made friends, joined in with events etc. Sadly mum passed away at the home after a spell in hospital where it became clear that was "end of life", so we were able to get mum back to Grove Hill with the help of the hospital i.e loaning of a hospital bed etc. all put in place before mum came home so she could be with people she had come to know and recognise.
Sadly, after only four days, she passed peacefully in her own room, staff were amazing with us and mum throughout her stay for the whole 6 years. I too will miss going there and seeing them all. I have come to know them and feel comfortable around them like family.

Thank you, your mum will be missed. She was loved by all, I will pass a copy of your review to the team. The Home and the staff team do the best they can for all the Residents. Just wish the CQC would understand the nature and culture of love with care at Grove Hill instead of focusing on paperwork and record keeping with all its trivia.

My grandparents have been at Grove Hill Care Home for a year now and they have received the most amazing care, kindness and helpfulness anyone could ever expect to receive. All of the staff are fantastic so polite and respectful and very easy to get on with and always willing to answer any problems
or queries, but as their very happy there we don't have any. I visit once or twice a week and have seen and met every member of staff and enjoy a chat with them all as do my grandparents. I would recommend Grove Hill Care Home to anyone who maybe looking for somewhere fantastic for caring.

My mum arrived at Grove Hill in March 2016, from the outset the kindness of the owner his wife and staff were evident. Time and care were given to keeping me informed of mum's stimulation. Whenever a concern arose, it was dealt with promptly, and any medical treatment was quickly looked into and given.
Mum was able to take part in some of the entertainment sessions laid on too. The overall impression was a 'home from home' with professionals on hand to deal with any problems.
I feel grateful that mum enjoyed the last few months of her life in such an environment.

My father has been a resident at Grove Hill Care Home for 2 and a half years. I couldn't wish for him to be anywhere else. He is happy to be living at Grove Hill. The staff treat him with the utmost love and respect.
He enjoys his meals and is always clean and tidy. He also enjoys the activities.
Overall he is treated with dignity and his care is second to none. I cannot praise Grove Hill enough.

Grove Hill has been home to mum now for 10 years, she suffers from slow deterioration of Alzheimer's Dementia. Her care here is and always has been excellent and the carers have adapted to each stage of her illness, as the changes in her mobility and needs have taken place.
From being up and mobile
and still able to go out when she first arrived to now needing full care and assistance, each stage has been managed brilliantly. My family love and admire the staff. Mum is smiley and loving and the staff always show her love and care. Grove hill is very much "home" for her and we call the staff our "Grove Hill family".

Grove Hill Care Home is a small care home that is family owned and operated. This means that the owner and manager is very "hands on" and approachable. The home has a "whole-life" ethos so residents are not required to leave when their care needs increase. The staff are committed to the home, staff
turnover is very small. The staff are very caring, although mums dementia got very bad towards the end. The staff took time to look after her in a caring and professional way. The carers are always interacting with residents, helping with crosswords, sing-songs and all sorts of other support. No-one is forgotten or excluded. The staff and management of this excellent little care home always treated mum with care and respect and were always happy to see us when we visited. I can thoroughly recommend Grove Hill Care Home. This covers period 31/12/2011 to 4/1/2016.

10/10 I would like to say how wonderful this care home is. My mother received the best care I could ask for. All her needs are well catered for. There is always a lovely warm welcoming atmosphere in the home, even if the staff are dealing with a crisis or are feeling a bit run down. The care is second
to none and I notice all the residents receive genuine care with dignity and respect. Definitely a real home from home. I would highly recommend this home to anyone needing care in their later years. A massive thank you to all the fantastic happy staff.

Grove Hill has a friendly and happy atmosphere. The residents all appear content and engage in activities that are fun, worthwhile and stimulating. The staff are extremely caring, treating individuals with patience, tolerance, dignity and love; as if they were members of their own families. The management
and staff are very approachable and always strive to meet the needs of each individual and those of their families. The home is very diverse, catering for all different cultures, by celebrating events such as St Patricks day. Food is nutritious and of the highest standard. I am very grateful to the staff for the love, care and dignity they have shown my mother-in-law and would recommend this home to anyone who has a vulnerable relative wishing to receive excellent care.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.526)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.526) out of 10 for Grove Hill Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.926 for Grove Hill Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 68 Ratings = 4.926

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grove Hill Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
