Lansdowne Hill Care Home is a residential care home set in the beautiful Wiltshire village of Wroughton, four miles south of Swindon. Lansdowne provides affordable residential, dementia, respite and convalescence care.

The team at Lansdowne has a wealth of experience of caring for older people with physical and mental health needs, including Parkinson’s disease and the many types of dementia that people are now living with.

There are also excellent transport links into Swindon town centre and surrounding areas. Junction 15 of the M4 is just two miles away.

CQC has given Lansdowne Hill a rating of ‘outstanding’. Its March 2018 inspection report recognised ‘innovative and exceptional care’.

There are 46 single bedrooms in Lansdowne Hill, across the ground floor and the first floor. The first floor is fully accessible, by stairs or a lift.

All rooms have en-suites or washbasins in the room and rooms without en-suites have accessible bathrooms nearby.

Each bedroom has a TV point, and most of the rooms have a telephone point.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own photos and furniture. Personal possessions help residents feel at home, and provide extra stimulation and time for reminiscence.

Care homes are not all the same. Mum loved living at Lansdowne Hill for almost fifteen years, aside from a couple of years at another care home that was, frankly, lacklustre in comparison. Her experiences truly highlighted how exceptional Lansdowne Hill is. The staff at Lansdowne Hill are remarkable.
From her key carer to the team leader, now deputy manager, and the many managers she had during her stay, everyone genuinely cared for her and loved her. The carers do so much thankless work, and I cannot express enough gratitude for their dedication and kindness. Although Mum often moaned about the food, she absolutely adored the chef, who made sure to learn her preferences and prepared the meals she liked. That kind of personal attention made all the difference. The team's communication with families is excellent - they keep you informed, listen to your concerns, and always take requests seriously. Over the years the love and care they showed our mum never wavered. Thank you, Lansdowne Hill, for being such a wonderful and compassionate place. We will always be grateful for the incredible care you gave to our mum.

My Mum's been here 18 months and the improvement in her is unbelievable, her personal cleanliness, demeanour and well-being. She's always taken pride in her appearance and she always looks well-groomed and clean. The staff always interact and treat them with dignity and so much patience and empathy.
They're amazing. There's always entertainment and activities and the social side is invaluable. The best thing is the peace of mind that your loved one really is cared for, priceless the peace of mind.

They have musical entertainment on most days, which is always a great afternoon. The two entertainment coordinators organise other activities such as cooking, bingo, hangman and also trips out. The care staff are always very polite, friendly and caring. They keep us informed of any wants or needs my
uncle may have. The cook goes out of his way to accommodate resident's choices. He will even go around with samples to ensure it is to the resident's liking.

The staff are amazing, making sure the residents are happy and their needs as much as possible are catered for.
They try and engage them with as much activities and music, as well as films. They are so kind chatting to the residents and making them feel very special, and they also make sure visitors

My mum is a resident at Landsdown Hill Care Home and I am very happy she is there. One particular member of staff who works there is very kind and caring and treats Mum as if she's family and another member of staff who gets the residents up and dancing when they have their live music sessions really
brings them joy. All the staff I have encountered have been exceptional in fact. I love the fact they get to bake, play bingo and have film days. It makes me feel relaxed knowing she's being cared with a personal touch. Thank you for all the hard work forever grateful.

Every carer has a kind and empathetic nature towards Mum. Every person who works for Lansdowne Hill looks out for and really cares for the residents, from office staff to the chefs to the people who clean the rooms and help in the kitchen etc. They all try to get Mum to join in with the activities to
alleviate the boredom that Mum's dementia leans towards. As a daughter, I am always greeted and spoken to, even when they are all rushed off their feet. The entertainment people try their best to keep people occupied even in the most trying of circumstances. Best of all Mum is happy as she could be.

My mother has been a resident at Lansdowne Hill Care Home since Dec 2022.
There is a wonderful manager there who is very proactive, caring and professional. The staff are caring and know my mother really well. She always tells me how well cared for she is and I often observe the staff having chats
with her.


I've been ill recently and the staff went out of their way to put on a surprise afternoon tea for us. We are all part of one family.

My Mum moved to Lansdowne Hill Care Home in 2020, shortly after the first lockdown. The team at Lansdowne have been exceptional at making her comfortable and meeting her needs, despite all of the difficulties of the pandemic. Being able to visit Mum and sit outside in the garden during the summer of
2020 and 2021 was lovely, and my Mum finds watching the doves captivating. The staff went out of their way to facilitate indoor visits as soon as government guidance allowed through the use of a dedicated lounge. My Mum enjoys the social side of things at Lansdowne, being with other residents that she recognises, and she thinks of the staff as friends. Lansdowne have been proactive at seeking support from the GP/Paramedics/Community Health Team as needed, and keeping me updated on her various health conditions. My Mum is not easy to live with (never has been), and I applaud the staff at Lansdowne for the patience they show in supporting and helping her.

I’m very happy that my uncle is living in Lansdowne Hill Care Home. The staff worked hard to help him settle in when he first arrived 7 months ago. They look after him very well and he has gained quite a lot of confidence and is much happier now than he was before moving in. The staff don’t hesitate
to call the GP if they need to and they keep us updated. They’re always welcoming and they’re very patient - with both residents and relatives. It’s a very happy but calm home. The residents always come first. The staff get to know the residents and they encourage them to take part in the activities and to go to the dining room to eat, but they are never too pushy. They get the balance just right.

The care home have, throughout my dad's stay, made a great effort to make him welcome, comfortable and encouraged inclusion in all activities. The management and staff have made every effort to immediately update me in regard to every incident and most difficulties with regards to Dad. They have also
been willing to resolve problems, amend medication and implement changes to his care as a result of his reduced health. Staff have been kind and helpful when trying to facilitate family and friend visiting and phone communication during the Covid-19 restrictions. Dad has, although not wanting to end life in a care home, consistently confirmed that he is being looked after very well and has few complaints.

As soon as we entered Lansdowne Hill Care Home we knew this was the place for Mum. It exudes warmth and homeliness, staff are super attentive, kind and respectful. Residents are contented and treated like family. Mum has Alzheimer's and can become very easily confused and agitated - since being at Lansdowne,
her anxiety has abated and she is very settled and contented and I myself can rest easy knowing she is happy and receiving the very highest standard of care and consideration. Daily activities and entertainments keep residents happily and appropriately amused and engaged and there are ample quiet homely areas to relax in of residents just wish to sit quietly. Lansdowne has been a godsend during the pandemic and has handled this difficult year with efficiency, empathy, common sense and consideration for both residents and family. An outstanding care home which I just cannot fault and I would not hesitate to recommend. A blueprint for excellence.

Mum has been in Lansdowne Hill for almost 4 years now and I have always felt she's well cared for by excellent staff. I was naturally extremely concerned for my mother when covid 19 appeared, but the management and staff of Lansdowne Hill acted swiftly to contain any outbreaks, and although the residents had to pay a surcharge for PPE, it seemed a small price to pay for the extra safety it provided.
My mother has
been there for over a year now and loves being there. She gets on well with the staff and really likes the food.
I have always found the staff extremely helpful, and are always willing to go that little bit extra to make her life easier.

I have never been into the home because of Covid; Dad went into the home in May and is awaiting his assessment. I have not been able to review food or value for money. Dad has told me his rooms is small; it would be more dignified for the room to be ensuite, so he does not need to use a commode. All
staff friendly and helpful, have not had many dealings with managers. The home is coping really well with the Covid situation. Activities and extra care (eg chiropody, hair cuts) starting again. All staff supportive both to me and Dad. I have been able to visit Dad regularly. I speak to him through his window or through open patios doors in one of the lounges. I am very pleased with Dads care.

We have had a great experience from start to finish. What was an upsetting and stressful situation leading us to find care for our grandad, was made easier by the lovely, caring staff.
