Quarry Mount is a specialist dementia Care Home with a welcoming, home-from-home atmosphere in a traditional style.

The home offers permanent 24-hour care, specialising in caring for older people afflicted by various forms of dementia, in addition to offering respite or short-term care if needed. There are two semi-detached bungalows accommodating residents with lower dependency requirements.

The home has a family atmosphere ensuring that the health and well-being of the residents always comes first, whilst receiving the finest care possible. Special features of the home include a spacious, bright conservatory, with doors opening onto a patio area with a large attractive and well-maintained garden.

Staff are always friendly, polite and very attentive to the residents. We believe that our relative is very well cared for, with lots of effort being given to ensuring pastimes and activities are personalised, helping them feel comfortable and safe. We often receive detailed updates on their wellbeing
and the staff are always happy to arrange video calls for when we are unable to visit in person. The management is brilliant and works with genuine care for the residents.

I am extremely happy with the care that my mum receives from all the staff at Quarry Mount. She seems happy in herself and is always well-presented. Management are very helpful and always pass on anything I need to know, for instance if Mum is unwell. The care home is a lovely environment for the residents
and always kept clean and tidy. I would recommend Quarry Mount for its excellence.

My experience with Quarrymount has been great, I have only been here 8 weeks, I was living on my own and very sick. They have changed my life here. The staff are very caring. Nothing is too much trouble. I could not be more settled and happy and that's down to the staff and other residents. It's a calm
peaceful place. But also has great things going on (that is if you want it).
It just feels like home to me, with the added bonus of lots of friends living with you.
It's a nice old house with lots of old features with a nice garden which is kept lovely.
I can only add how happy and safe I feel, the staff work hard to keep us all that way. Well done Quarrymount.

Amazing care home for my mother, I cannot praise the staff enough, they make everyone feel like it truly is their home and they are amongst people who really care. They are so very professional in everything they do. Their response rate is excellent whenever there is any potential issue regarding health
ensuring Mum is seen by a doctor, nurse or other professional immediately then straight away letting me know not only that there is an issue, but how they are already responding to it. They also keep everyone as busy as they want to be, take time to find out what they like doing or are interested in, provide a varied programme of entertainment and activities, spend time with each of the residents individually and are really easy to talk to when I have any questions or concerns. I really feel my mum is in safe hands!

Kind, caring and considerate staff. Good management and excellent communication with our family concerning Mum's care and continued care and medications. Excellent and varied daily activities to engage residents where possible. Environment although in an old building, is made to feel welcoming. Residents
have a beautiful garden which they can use in good weather. They can also where possible wander at will in the building and gardens.
Rooms are fairly basic, but very well cleaned on a daily basis and residents are encouraged to spend time in the lounges and conservatory.
The home has an open door policy for visits and from what I can see good relationships with the area they are in.

Always received very good response from staff when I’ve requested help with my sister. She appears to be content on most of my visits. But would prefer her to be moved at the earliest opportunity to a bigger room where I’m sure she would be happier as this is one of the complaints she has. Her room
is very small. The staff are kind and helpful at all times to my sister. I visit regularly and never have a problem with them.

We booked my father into Quarry Mount for 5 days while we attended my daughter's wedding. Although physically quite well my father is 94 and very forgetful. We needed somewhere for him to stay that could care for him and also get him ready for the wedding service. Being able to leave him in the care
of the manager and the team and concentrate on our wedding planning, knowing he would arrive at the right place and the right time in the appropriate clothes. was a huge weight off our minds. All the staff at Quarry Mount were extremely helpful and my father was very grateful for the care they showed him while he was there.

All staff have been helpful and respectful to myself and more importantly my mother. My mother is well looked after and great care is given to keeping residents entertained with outings when possible. Queries I have are listened to and dealt with as promptly as possible as I realise management can be
very busy. Overall, in the 2 months my mother has been at Quarry Mount, I have no complaints.

We visited Mum just after the King's coronation and she was very tired, as she had had a full day celebrating his coronation, which she said that she enjoyed, very much.
The staff were and always are brilliant and kept us updated on how Mum recovered from this.

I only have good words to describe my dad's experience whilst he's been living at Quarry Mount. He has settled in so well. It's a relief to know he's very safe. The staff I have met have all been very nice and polite. The management are great too.

Generally, everything runs very smoothly and staff are very attentive. Although food is generally good, more attention to client menu requests, when food is served up, would ensure they get whatever they ordered. Sometimes requests take a long time to fulfil due to forgetfulness. I am happy with my
mother’s care in principle, it just requires a few tweaks that I am sure the manager will have sorted.

I have liaised with the Manager regularly over the past 6 months at least about moving my aunt into the home. She has been so refreshing and easy to deal with despite her extremely busy role at the home. She always has time to talk and her responses are always very informative. Her assistance helped
me persuade my aunt to go into 24/7 care in one of the self-dependant bungalow rooms and she has settled in very well against all expectations. She continues to be very helpful and friendly whenever I contact quarry mount from Australia to check up on the welfare of my aunt.
She's a star and is representative of all the staff at the home and epitomises what families look for in a fantastic care home manager.

Mum moved into Quarry Mount in October 2021. The staff made Mum's move from her home into Quarry Mount very smooth. I cannot thank them enough for the care mum is receiving. Mother went into respite care and is now a resident. The staff and facilities are very good. Due to Covid, the family haven't been able to see her room. She seems happy, and we, as the family, are happy knowing she's being looked after by people who care for her and her needs.

Very difficult to provide a review as have only been able to visit a few times before lockdown. However, the staff and management are very helpful with phone contact and health information.

Sue’s journey in care originally started in the 1970s when she worked for several years as a Care Assistant for the elderly. Sue then focused on raising her young family until returning to the care industry in 2002 when she and her late husband Richard purchased their first care home, Quarry Mount, in Swindon. Their vision for compassionate care expanded in 2009 with the acquisition of a sister home, Northfield House in Stroud. At the heart of Sue’s approach is the belief that both residents and staff should be treated as part of an extended family. This philosophy has been the cornerstone of her care homes’ success and reputation.


The powerful motto is “Care with Compassion & Commitment”. encapsulates the ethos that drives every aspect of care at both homes: The staff are chosen not only for their qualifications but also for their ability to show kindness, understanding, and empathy. Karen Meadowcroft

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 1985

Karen has worked at Quarry Mount since 1985 when she initially started her career as a carer and worked her way up, eventually taking over the role of Registered Manager in 1994, and has had a very important part in embedding the high quality care and values of Quarry Mount ever since.


Karen went on to achieve her Registered Managers award and has completed countless training seminars and individual training courses to expand her knowledge over the years and keep up to date with any changes to the legislation.


Karen shares our ethos to provide a warm loving family atmosphere whilst providing Care with Compassion and Commitment.

Claire Thorne

Job Title: Assistant Manager

Joined: 2021

Claire Joined Quarry Mount in 2021 having made the decision to take a leap of faith with a complete change of career. Care was something that Claire had felt naturally drawn to try, as it fitted with her very caring nature.


Combined with her previous organisational and supervisory experience, this meant that we soon identified Claire’s strong leadership skills and suitability to work alongside supporting Karen as our Assistant Manager, helping to lead the staff and completing required processes.
