Digby Manor Care Home is a MULTI AWARD WINNING Care Home located in the residential area of Erdington, Birmingham and provides a warm and inviting residential care setting to the elderly and adults with dementia.

Residents have access to the tranquil and peaceful garden setting at the back of the home. Inside the home there are two large communal lounge areas, a conservatory and dining room for socialising and relaxing.

The home prides itself on the warm, friendly and caring nature that staff give to their residents to ensure they remain happy, content and as independent as possible. The dedicated and long-serving staff are active at addressing any issues, problems or anxieties residents face when moving into a new care environment.

A team of knowledgeable professionals with a wealth of skills and experiences provide support and guidance to residents from a range of backgrounds with a variety of care and support needs.

The social atmosphere is enhanced by a flexible programme of activities which focuses on physical and emotional health, while looking to make the most of community links and personal interests.

Wonderful atmosphere, people talking to each other, communicating on all levels. Kind, compassionate and friendly. These are the residents of Digby Manor Residential Care Home. The staff are well organised and go about their roles without any fuss. So nice to see our elderly being treated with respect
and dignity. Our relative has spent two weeks with the other residents of Digby Manor and made new friends, integrated with other people for the first time in a long time, and been wonderfully cared for. We highly recommend this residential home.

Everything has been very good. My friend has a lovely big room with a lovely view and she is very contented. The staff are very friendly and it has a lovely atmosphere.

Lovely, warm caring staff who are very friendly and accommodating. They do their best to meet all resident needs. My dad can be demanding but the staff are very patient with him and ensuring he is looked after. A lovely family run home with the owners omnipresent and always on hand to meet relatives.

I am unable to give a full report as I was not available to see everything that went on, but what I saw was genuine care for the residents and also they said that they were satisfied with everything. Also, my wife said that she would not mind going back as she said that everyone was friendly. The
overall impression of the home was very clean and also the kitchen of what I did see. From a general point of view the owners, who have just taken over, do require some minor work to bring the standard higher, but I do think that they will get there as it is early days.

Mom stayed here for a weeks respite and has really enjoyed herself.
Our initial response was a positive one as the staff were very welcoming and made Mom feel at ease straight away.
When we picked Mom up after we got back she was in the main room looking smart and comfortable.
It must have been
good as she has said she would like to stay again.
All in all no complaints from us.

The girls (carers) are absolutely fantastic to my sister. One in particular, is like gold dust. We love the care that my sister gets. My sister is very happy and the staff are very calm. My sister has come out of her shell. She used to be very quiet but she is very settled. I cannot thank the staff
and owners enough for the outstanding care that they give.

My mother at 92 years of age became very ill quite suddenly. The team at Digby Manor gave my mother excellent care and made such a difficult situation into a very controlled and safe environment whilst retaining her dignity. We, as a family, were extremely satisfied with the way Digby Manor took my
mother into their care for the final period of her life.

My aunt is 81 years old and has been at Digby Manor Residential Care Home since 2014. The initial care for my aunt was good but the last few months since the home was taken over the care has been outstanding. The staff are excellent with improvements made.

My mother has stayed at Digby Manor for 3 weeks respite care. I found the place clean, tidy and above all secure. Mom takes medication which she was given at the correct times and dosage. Friends and family could visit when they wished and were made welcome. Mom was happy and I was for her.

My Mother moved into the Digby Manor Care Home in 2011, she settled in very well, she is 102 years old and still loves her food. The girls and boys who look after her have really been good to her over the years. I think the care and attention she has received has helped her live so long. So we are happy
we chose this care home for her in 2011!

The staff here are fantastic and well mannered to us very nice to you and dad looks like he was really settled in. The care home looks a very excellent place for the elderly, I feel reassured and happy knowing they are looked after well and cared for.

Outstanding compassionate care, especially during the last months of my Aunts life. Initially, my aunt was hesitant about entering a care home, however this was soon dispelled when she arrived at Digby Manor. She always said the "girls" (carers) are all lovely and that she did not want to move. Her
wish was fulfilled as they were able to look after her until the end of her life, saying that it was her home.
The staff always seemed cheerful and very pleasant, with both residents and visitors alike. Also well informed and I was usually greeted with an update on my aunt's condition as soon as I arrived.
I feel it was a real home from home and will always be grateful they had a vacancy when my aunt could not manage in her own home.

Darren

Darren Somauroo

Darren took over the ownership of Digby Manor Residential Care Home in March 2017. Prior to arriving at the Home, he worked for his parents in the Care Sector and has led both strategically and operationally in various settings. Darren took his time to find 'the right home' before purchasing Digby Manor in March 2017. Community links are a big part of his vision for making Digby Manor the number one flagship home in the West Midlands and the various awards received to date show how well the Care Home is doing. Darren has big plans for the future of Digby Manor and with his long-standing and committed staff are striving for outstanding in all that they do in the delivery of person-centred care.


Jane

Jane Farr

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2017

Jane is a mother of 2, with a daughter and a son who are now grown up and have families of their own. Jane is a proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren, whom she adores.
Jane started her career in a nursing home over 20 years ago and worked her way through her qualifications completing level 2, 3, 4 and leadership and management.
Jane always wanted to care for people even as a child and always wanted to help the less fortunate. During Jane’s studies her tutor advised her to go to University to study ‘nursing’, however Jane had other ideas and really wanted to make a difference.
As a child, Jane, was always around people with learning disabilities whom she would share holidays and social events. Jane felt this was the area that she wanted to pursue and to support people to make a difference. Jane worked her way up to become a Registered Manager.
In August 2017, Jane was appointed the Care Home Manager of Digby Manor and has been part of a magical experience since. Jane feels very passionate about her role and making a difference through ‘Good Quality Care.’ And so the journey continues for Digby Manor to be ‘outstanding’ in all areas by the regulator, CQC.


Lisa

Lisa Brettell

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 1997

Lisa has worked at Digby Manor for over 25 years! She worked her way up through the ranks starting as a part-time Domestic shortly after having had her daughter. She has worked in every area of Digby Manor and knows the environment inside and out. Lisa has completed NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. Lisa has also completed her Team Leader Qualification, and she has completed a Level 2 in Dementia Care, End of Life Care, Nutrition and Equality and Diversity. Lisa is now currently working towards gaining a Level 5 in Health and Social Care. Lisa is part of the Management Team to ensure we deliver excellent standards of care for all our residents. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys socialising with friends, spending time with her family, especially her grandchild, who is her bundle of joy. Lisa is a long time fan of Digby Manor and loves being a part of something special and especially making a difference to peoples lives.


Kimberley

Kimberley Morris

Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager / Administrator

Joined: 2018

Kim is a qualified accountant and has been the Administrator at Digby Manor Residential Care Home since January 2018. Prior to working at Digby Manor, Kim worked for a major accountancy company in the city. She has also completed many of the in-house training courses offered at Digby Manor given her interest in working with people with dementia. Outside of work, Kim and her husband like to partake in lots of extracurricular activities with their son. Kim oversees all the administration of the care home and conducts the viewings of potential families/residents.
