Anchor’s Madeleine House is located at the centre of the Stechford community in Birmingham. The home provides friendly and comfortable residential and dementia care for up to 41 residents in single ensuite rooms. It continues to welcome new residents, both on a permanent and shorter term basis.

The dedicated care team takes the time to get to know the individual and works with them, and their loved ones, to create detailed care plans to ensure their care needs are continually met.

Anchor provides dementia care and provides on-going training to ensure the team members' approach is best for customers living with dementia. They work hard to get to know customers, build relationships and ensure all aspects of the service they provide are focused on individual and compassionate care.

Anchor is England’s largest provider of housing and care for those over 55 years of age and has 60 years of experience as a not-for-profit provider of services to older people.

My grandmother seems very happy here. Her room compared to other homes is fantastic and feels very homely. The activities and entertainment for residents is great and varied. Food is plentiful as well as snacks and drinks. A few issues with individual care were raised when she first came here but after
highlighting the issues to management they were resolved in a timely manner. Medical attention is great and when poorly she receives the right level of treatment.

First impressions visiting Madeleine House were how clean, vibrant and friendly the staff are, even down to the cook and cleaning staff. Everyone is very attentive and caring. Always kept informed of any issues and how my friend is in himself. A super team - five stars.

Finding a home for mom was one of the hardest things we have had to do as a family. You hear so much about residential care homes. I have to say Madeleine House was the first home we checked out and we had 6 homes to see, we never looked at the other 5 homes, the warm welcome, the happy residents, the
friendly staff told us a story. Thank God we chose Madeleine House.

Mom's only been there for a couple of weeks and already feels at home. Very friendly and helpful staff. Her room is just like a little flat with a lovely view of the park, it feels very homely. Lovely garden area to walk around or just sit and relax in. Would recommend Madeleine House.

My mom continues to be happy and well living at Madeline House. I can honestly say that the care my mom receives is second to none. All the staff go that extra mile to make sure my mom feels happy, safe and well. The home are always organising activities for the residents including a day. Celebrating
the commonwealth games! Considering all the uncertainty over the last two years, Madeleine House have been a shining light for my mom and the other residents and I thank you for that!

My mother recently moved into Madeleine House. As she has lived independently all of her life, we were obviously concerned with the move, but we didn’t need to be, the staff here have welcomed my mother and made her feel at home. The overall standard of this care home is outstanding and the staff are
friendly and caring. I would recommend it to anybody who is looking for a care home for their loved one.

Mum moved in in August 2021. She has settled well which has been a huge relief. She has dementia but is more stable since moving in. Her room is always lovely and tidy and she is kept clean and cared for. She eats well and enjoys the food on offer. Residents have access to a lovely garden and Mum is
given the freedom to walk around as and when she wishes. The staff are lovely and caring towards her but always seem run off their feet. They are great at keeping me informed of any appointments, medication changes and concerns. It would be great if more activities could be arranged for the residents which may be possible if staffing numbers were higher?

We use a dependency tool to ensure that our staffing levels enable us to provide the appropriate levels of care for our residents. We have a daily, weekly and monthly activities programme, which has been created with the input of our residents. However, we respect residents' wishes if they don't wish to participate in activities.

My mother has been here for 18 months and has been very happy. Plenty of care, plenty of activities, good food and lovely gardens. Unfortunately, due to a fall some 3 months ago her health has been declining and she is now on palliative care. Nothing is too much trouble for such wonderful carers, they
treat her with respect and dignity at all time.

Mom moved to Madeleine House in February 2021 after a period ill health and she wouldn't settle in her own home. We chose Madeleine House from a recommendation and online reviews/information, unable to view due to pandemic.
After an initial period of being unsettled, Mom has found she loves it here,
she has a good routine which helps her mental health. Her personal care is excellent, with staff helping as needed and enabling Mom to retain as much independence as possible.
Her main complaints are the meals, but this appears more to do with her taste than standards, although she finds food dry sometimes.
As a family, we are more than happy with the care provided.
My only comment would be communication is not always the best and staff levels seem low.

Mum has been at Madeleine House for three years now. She has settled in well; the staff are all lovely and go out of their way to make Mum feel comfortable as though it was her own home. The manager has made a lot of changes, all for the better. There are many more activities, and it has been redecorated;
it is bright and cheerful. The food is very good, the choices are good, it always looks nice. The home is always lovely and clean and is a safe environment for staff, relatives and clients. I would highly recommend Madeleine House.

My mother-in-law became a resident during the Covid-19 period, which was a difficult time for all. During this time, the staff made her feel welcome and helped her settle. Staff have assisted in our visits during restrictions and kept us updated in her care. My mother-in-law seems happy and with the
lifting of Covid restrictions, looking forward to more activities being possible, which will help her with her dementia care.

I was unsure at first of how my mother-in-law would react to being in a care home. I can honestly say it is the best thing we did, she loves it there. Mom has been well looked after during the pandemic and her own series of infections.
The staff communicate frequently and with kindness so that we felt involved, even though we live in another part of the country.
