St Judes Residential Care Home is a family-owned and run home for the elderly in the heart of Eastern Green. They pride themselves on providing exemplary care and meeting the individual requirements of residents for over 35 years. Independence is carefully nurtured and encouraged through the team of highly skilled carers. Residents can make use of their recently renovated communal dining and living area (August 2021), patio and raised growing beds (July 2020) they also have state of the art air filtration in all communal areas to help reduce communicable diseases. I cannot praise St Jude's enough. The care they provided to my dad during his stay, both when he was quite well, and at the end of his life, was second to none. They go 'above and beyond' in all aspects and take care to include and support the family as and when needed. Such is their kindness, love
and support for their residents that I cannot find any fault nor any reason for criticism. Outstanding, truly.

I am very grateful for the high standard of professional care provided by friendly, caring staff to my mum over the past eight months, superbly led by the wonderful manager. It gives me peace of mind that they are expert in dealing with infection control and safety and respond quickly when medical situations
arise. St Jude's benefits from being family run and is homely, with staff knowing the residents and their needs. Pre-lockdown activities included sing-a-longs, keep fit, quizzes, art and entertainers. I have been delighted to receive photos and videos during the lockdown. Many residents' rooms are on the ground floor so have the advantage of easy access to the communal rooms.

My mum moved into St Jude's Residential Care Home nearly three years ago and she settled in quickly. St Jude's is a clean, happy and homely place to live and Mum's healthy, mobility and wellbeing have improved tenfold since she has been there. These improvements are due to the attention to detail of
the requirements of each individual by the management and carers. It is clear to see that they really do care about the residents which results in a lovely, happy and well cared for home. The staff treat the residents with dignity, respect and kindness and mum feels safe, happy and well cared for. I have always felt welcome when I visit and I will always be grateful for the help and advice the management and staff have given me. I highly recommend St Jude's. My family could not have wished for more. We can relax knowing that Mum is in good hands and receiving excellent care. A huge 'thank you' to all at St Jude's!

St Jude's was very welcoming, caring and considerate towards all the family, but especially Mum. They helped Mum with personal care and were always respectful. Mum became very settled in her 2 1/2 years there. We were always included in any decisions, and we became part of a large family. We were very
fortunate to be able to get Mum into a home of such high standards.

This is a fabulous home. I didn't want my mother to go into care but it was unavoidable. I prayed to be able to get Mum into St Jude's because I had heard such good reports. The home never smells, it is so clean. The staff is wonderful to my mother. Because she can be difficult at times they are lovely
to me also, always have time to chat. The food and rooms are excellent. If I had to go into care I want to be at St Jude's.

My husband was a resident for a year. In this time he was treated extremely well by all members of staff. Unfortunately, he had to move on due to more complex needs, which caused disappointment. I highly recommend the home as all staff is well trained and it has a family atmosphere.

We found St Jude's Care Home is an excellent place for elderly parents. They treat residents with dignity and care. The home is run very well and the staff sees to the resident's needs. The home is very clean, with excellent food. We would recommend St Jude's any time.

My mother was a resident at St Jude's from November 2017 to September 2019. My mother was very happy there, as we were as a family knowing Mum was cared for both professionally and importantly, thoughtful and caring. All the staff was great, with a happy and helpful attitude. Conditions/room were warm,
clean, almost home from home, with meals allowing for different tastes/choices, etc. We were very pleased knowing Mum was happy and looked after. No problems.

My mother was very happy at St Jude's and was very secure. We, as a family, were very happy with the way my mother was treated and looked after, also how we ourselves were treated and kept informed of issues relating to my mother and the home in general.
I cannot wait for Covid-19 to be over so that
we can visit the home and see the staff and residents who have all made us feel like we are part of the St Jude's family. I cannot praise St Jude's enough.

Mum moved into St Jude's in 2017 aged 97-years, three years later she passed away. During her stay at St Jude's, I was always made welcome in all aspects. The management team were very approachable and friendly, which resulted in all employees showing patients, kindness and caring to all. From management,
care workers, cleaners and hairdressers all met you with a welcome and a smile. St Jude's was bright and cheery with a relaxed atmosphere, care staff interacted well with residents, providing a variety of activities. Food was varied and appetising. My experience of St Jude's was extremely positive, and whilst Mum was there, I never worried about her. Although Mum didn't relish foregoing her independence, she was happy and content at St Jude's.

My mother has been a resident for over a year and is happy and settled at St. Judes. St. Judes is a friendly, family-run residential home and residents and visitors are treated with courtesy and respect. The home is clean and well maintained. The food menu is varied and residents can choose what they
wish to eat. The carers are friendly and cheerful and residents are helped to wash, bathe and dress if required. I would be happy to recommend this home to family and friends if they are looking for a residential home for themselves or for members of their family

Susie Barrows

Job Title: Manager

Joined: 2007

Susie has been working within the care industry for 31 years. Within this time she has accumulated invaluable experience in hands on care which informs her management style to this day. She has been a manager for over 18 years, spending the past 13 years at St Judes.


"I strongly believe in recognising individuality through person centred care. That residents retain their own voice and we respect their opinions, through this we foster their empowerment and encourage autonomy. It's not a case of treating residents how I would like to be treated, its a case of treating them how THEY would like to be treated."


Susie holds an Advanced Management in Care, Registered Manager Award and Level 4 Diploma in Care.


In addition to the above Susie has client specific training in Stroke, Parkinsons etc and mandatory training in Infection Control, Safe-guarding etc
